Well at least he has been a athletlic director for the past 5 years but at a school without a football program.:retard: Maybe the development and community relations experience will be used to secure funds for the football/athletic facilities. Should be interesting.

From looking at the resumes of all the applicants, I just feel that he best represents what we are trying to do in the State of Texas. If we move up the food chain in our own state, dominating the SWAC would be a residual effect.

After a nationwide search that netted six candidates, President George C. Wright will announce PVAMU's new athletic director on Tuesday afternoon.
Wright will welcome the new athletic director during a press conference scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tue., June 17 in the Julius W. Becton, Jr. Auditorium in the A. I. Thomas Administration Building on Prairie View A&M University's main campus. The newly selected administrator will also share the new vision for PVAMU athletics.
In the past two weeks, six finalists were chosen and each hosted a forum where they shared plans for PVAMU athletics. The finalists include:
Dr. Tamica Smith-Jones: current director of athletics at Clark Atlanta University
Troy Mathieu: executive director of athletics at Grand Prairie Independent School District
Henry Frazier, III: head football coach at North Carolina Central; former PVAMU head football coach
Shelley Davis-Hill: senior associate athletic director/senior woman administrator at Howard University
Derrick Ramsey: current director of athletics at Coppin State University
Ashley Robinson: director of athletics at Mississippi Valley State University; previous PVAMU assistant vice president of athletic compliance & academic advising

Hell no he's not the best choice but if recent years are an indication; it hasn't taken much effort on PV's part to have the top athletic department in the SWAC. What this hire was about for me was a chance to find someone (with experience and contacts) to make PV one of the best as far as FCS schools are a concerned. I'm not sure staying on auto-pilot gets us there.
