2013 Key OOC games

Here is my list of key OOC games for Each school.

Grambling Vs Lamar Grambling La
This is a up start program that We should be able to handle at Home.. This Game in my eyes will let us know where our Program is headed.

Jackson State VS TN State

Kind of disappointed that Jackson State didnt pick up a 12th game against a program. Kinda sad this is the best OOC that Jackson state will Play. Tulane will run through Jackson State especially if it is held on Thursday. Jackson State will out Number Tulane in turn that game into a home game on Saturday. Thursday game, Not so much

Bama State Vs Jacksonville State

I think this game will determine what kind of Year that Crowell and Bama State will have

SU Vs Northwestern
Southland Matchup, Both teams are really rebuilding, so a win for SU will help them gain confidence for the remaining of the Season. The Houston Game want be a blow out but It is a typical un winnable game.

Alcorn Vs __________

Yea Alcorn just trying to get some wins by any means

Valley vs Delta State

This Game will tell if Valley is really improved, they will be able to close some doors with a win. The FAMU game will be all FAMU

UAPB Vs MCNeese
Hopefully PB can keep it close, a win would scare a lot of SWAC coaches.

TSU vs Sam Houston
TSU just need to redeem themselves from last year

PV vs Abilene Christian
PV needs to Welcome them to D1 with a loss at Home

A&M Vs South Carolina State

A good Matchup, the SWAC will be watching. Its for the Marbles

I don't know much about Houston but I know Northwestern don't return many. It's a winnable game but it goes back to the approach of how some of our coaches have in nonconference games. I don't want any injuries = loss.

Is that the excuse they give now? I think we tend to get outcoached...hate saying it, but I've seen it happen too many times. We have size advantage, but we don't seem to exploit our talent.

Now in this game... I really don't see that happening? SU's offense got better down the stretch because they became better organized in their play calling and schemes. If they have progressed, they will knock off Northwestern. However, the Demons hired a pretty good coach in Daye!

NAW, too me the game vs Lincoln dont Count. Last year in my eyes we were 0-10, VLU or whoever we played Dont count. South Panola vs Grambling would have been a closer and better game

PV vs Alibene Christian
JSU vs TNState
If they play like last year, I got Valley over both Delta State and FAMU. Great scheduling by the Valley AD!

Lamar is past the start up stage and are primed to be damn good this year... Grambling is gonna be in for one if they aint careful...

ACU reload(ed/s) every year when they were D-II and secure a lot of D-I FBS-type rejects/fall-throughs. They'll be tough and loaded as they enter D-I'dom for the first time. I don't anticipate a pushover game from them, it'll be a dogfight.

Also, I think the implications for PVAMU vs SFA (Southland in same proximity along w/ SHSU, Lamar, sTu, HBU, and even McNeese) are highly evident (recruiting pxoximity for current D-I FCSers). I put McNeese St in there because the location of it from my home area is ~90 miles and they recruit <b>hard</b> in my home area whereas PVAMU does not :emlaugh:. I'm guessing 5A/4A schools w/ majority whites is not attractive to specific SWAC schools. :emlaugh:

Lastly, the tilt of PVAMU vs TxSt (D-I FBS now)... Spoken words cannot even begin to describe this travesty lol. When TxSt was D-II in the 80s, they ran roughshod over then D-I I-AA PVAMU <b>unmercifully, at will</b>. My fam represent(s/ed) there w/ those people quite deeply in football (even today lol) and I am reminded by them and a few other grads of theirs how far their football program advanced (from D-II to D-I FCS to now D-I FBS in under 23 years :smh: ) while PVAMU's remained stagnant over the last 30+ years. Something quite a few blind PVers refuse to acknowledge due to their inability to use their brainpower. :smh:

These are the most important games of the season. These games show SWAC Teams How SWAC Teams SHOULD be.

I'm speaking in general MB. You hear it all the time. We should win this game though.

No disrespect to other SWAC schools but the SWAC vs Southland matchups are the main ones I'm interested in.

Fall 2012, Southland 2 SWAC 0 (both BlOWOUT losses)
Fall 2013, SU vs NwSt, Grambling vs Lamar, PVAMU vs SFA, sTu vs SHSU, and UAPB vs McNeese.

Also, MVSU vs FAMU and AlaSU vs JaxSt; and JSU vs TnSt (obviously for the FCS to FCS scenarios).

Realistically, how do you see the SWAC going fall 2013 vs the SLC? 0-5? 1-4? 2-3? ... sTu has had a reduction in schols and is still attempting to right the ship. I do not see them beating SHSU. PVAMU has a 1st yr DC (experienced but not as a DC) and is severely undersized (annually) across the front 4 (or 3) vs an up and comer in SFA that is drastically improved over the last 2 yrs. I do not see PVAMU beating SFA.

If the SWAC pretends itself to be competitive, it has to defeat sub-D-Is and other FCS squads. Fall 2013, I'm not sure if the conference from top to bottom can do that - perhaps the toppers can.

I added a little bit more to my personal analysis pvdt. I think PVAMU could realistically go 1-2 OOC this fall iff the weightroom was priority :read: AND attention to detail(s) was priority w/ the players/staff. I hope the new DC does well but I don't think he's working w/ much. A converted QB @ 6'4" 210 lbs to DE? :confused:

I don't know anything about Daye (I think that's his name @ NwSt) or what they return. When I typed that list, I was actually thinking 0-5 <b>but</b> I was leaning towards competitive games between SU and NwSt and interestingly enough, between Grambling and Lamar. The others? Blowout central. McNeese is loaded and overly well coached. :( :read:

I really had to think hard on S.U. Gram and UAPB. 1) I think S.U. is going to surprise a few people this year. I'm concerned about the defense though and looking for improvement running the ball. 2) Grambling is like an X factor. You never know what's brewing in those Piney Woods. After last year they might come out of all of that pollen bringing the pain. 3) I didn't go with UAPB because of my concerns about their defense being able to stop McNeese. I believe their offense can score but defense is my question against the Cowpokes...

Southern tends to play better in out of conference games than most of the conference schools. That's probably because we don't have an inferiority complex. Some of our schools are defeated before they hit the field. The MEAC/SWAC challenge for example is a disgrace. NWST had a similar season as S.U. last year. I gave a slight edge to S.U. because of the solid pass and catch combo returning coupled with a formidable sum of players returning and an above average recruiting class.
