Genesis 18:16-19:29.

Sodom and Gomorrah - Story Summary:

Three angels visited Abraham, God's hand-picked founder of his chosen nation, Israel. They came disguised as men, travelers along the road. Two of them went down to Sodom and Gomorrah, to observe firsthand the wickedness in those cities.
 



With so much evil going on in this world. You wonder when will GOD bring his wrath down on us.

Points of Interest from the Story of Sodom and Gomorrah:
• God was mercifully willing to spare the cities for the sake of a few righteous people, but none lived there. The Bible tells us all the inhabitants were depraved.

• One of the reasons God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah was because he did not want the Jews to be influenced by this evil. As the Creator of all things, God has the divine right to destroy evil as he sees fit. • Lot and his family were spared, but his future sons-in-laws were destroyed because they thought Lot was joking about God's wrath. Millions of people today think God and sin are things to joke about. God does exist, and he does punish unrepentant sinners.
 
But the world is actually better than it was in the past, you think we would have been destroyed in the early 20th century.
 
Did God destroy Pompeii (Italy) because it was a wicked? And why did Katrina come a shore in NOLA instead of Pensacola? Was one city more wicked than the other?

:emlaugh: I don't know if logic, reason, and basic understanding of how the earth works is allowed in this forum. I could be wrong.

This is true. I'm perplexed sometimes at how people are taken aback by incidents of violence these days. If one studies history, they will find it far violent decades and centuries ago than now.
 
Many will come in my name claiming many things. Be careful.......... I have yet to meet a thief who calls up and tell you this is the night he is coming.........

I will agree with you on this. Many people have met their demise falling for charismatic "leaders," who took them for everything they had.

JH, that's because those people focused more on the messenger and not the message. When a person truly knows & understands God's Word, they have (or know to ask God for) for the spirit of discernment. For people who are Christians and/or Believers, they know to use the most valuable resource that Jesus left us with, the Holy Spirit. Anyone person who truly wants to be saved and led to Jesus will be done so by God. He wants a relationship with us and won't lead a willing heart and spirit to a place where they can't feel or experience His presence. Nor will He lead them to a place where the messenger isn't obedient to Him.

The sooner EVERYONE realizes that pastors, preachers, ministers, etc are flesh and not above temptation and sin, the better. That's why Paul said we (Christians/Believers) are to pray for such people in authority to lead peaceable lives. Being called by God has never exempted any pastor from temptation or sin.

It is a case of people being mesmerized by a messenger who more often than not tells the masses what they want to hear. It's how politicians have gotten over on the public forever.
 
Parents are often tougher on their first born. They want everything to be perfect and at the same time they are experimenting with what they feel works best. They generally feel they have a better understanding with future children and give them more freedom than the first born.

How could this story even be remotely true. You mean to tell me that newborn babies, little boys and girls were ALL depraved, so ALL of them had to be killed off? LOL!!!

It's called tectonic plates and volcanoes. Has nothing to do with any god destroying a city. Katrina was an alleged man-made hurricane that supposedly missed New Orleans, but the canals were intentionally blown up thus flooding the entire city. Had nothing to do with any god. Katrina was a man-made catastrophe.

Why do you think persons behave in that manner?
One word "flesh". Our flesh is bad and will cause us to do things that we NEVER thought we'd do. God says goes right, flesh says go left. God says man with woman, flesh says man with man. That's how flesh operates - opposing God. That's why God says the one way to deal with flesh is to 'crucify it.'

If we let our guard down even for a moment, our flesh will have us doing things that will make you be like Even Christians!

imagine Him coming right in the middle of one of our so- called debates...lol....


on another note, one of my so-called scientific guru colleagues stated you can't get something from nothing, that
everything evolved from something. So we went all the way down to the smallest bits of an atom, and he said it also came from something.

So I told him if no matter what you name it had to come from something, and if you can't get something from nothing
then Something had to always exist, because it could never have been nothing, because you just said you can't get
something from nothing, he looked lost

So in parting I said therefore something had to always exist, and I asked him "wonder what that Something was and is"
