Metro Atlanta population hit 5.45 million in 2012

Now you know those type of T.V. shows are the best thing that have ever happen to Black folks since BET. Twerking their azzes and acting crazy on T.V. are getting Black folks paid. How else do you think Black folks are going to empower themselves? I'm sure Jrock would agree with me on that. :emlaugh:

It has always worked. We recognize it and still watch it.

Also, Black folks weaken their political power on a national level when they lump themselves into large urban metropolitan areas. Large urban areas in this country like Atlanta might control like one or two congressional districts in the U.S. House. If 5 million Black folks could move from large urban areas and spread out into smaller closely contested gerrymandered congressional districts, Blacks folks in this country would have the potentials to influence way more congressional races. Basically for every 1 or 2 congressional districts Black folks would give up in areas like Atlanta, they probably could gain 10 more somewhere else. So politically speaking, large urban areas like Atlanta are a bad thing for Black folks. And by the way, to correct your historical perspective of the Civil War, General Sherman's "Total War Concept" was to destroy and kick White folks out of their homes, so he could put an end to a silly war that started over White folks in the South wanting to keep Black folks in slavery. Also, a good criminal defense attorney never present their real argument first. A good criminal defense attorney always lure their opposition into presenting their argument first so they can kill them with their strongest fact, but I'm sure you have a rebuttal to my argument and why you think Blacks folks should lump themselves in Metro areas like Atlanta.

If jSU could get at least 200,000 Black Mississippians that have moved to the Atlanta Metropolitan area back to Mississippi, Mississippi would have an unprecedented change in demographics and jSU would have a much stronger chance in getting their domed stadium.

I can't believe you took the time to write this. IMHO, that is some of the craziest stuff I read in a long time. I will agree to disagree with you and move on. Let me know when you appoint a Population Czar to empower AA political muscle across the country. :emlaugh:

If you would have read what I wrote CAREFULLY and thoroughly comprehended it, you would have noticed that nothing I typed was a demand, it was only pointing out the obvious fact why the voting majority in this country couldn't wrestle control of Congress from the Republicans. And if the Republicans are allowed to change the electoral process by allowing congressional districts to determine this country's future President, the urban majority would be weakening even more. Population Czars would demand that AA shift their population to other regions of the country for political reasons, which is not what I stated. But I guess when one point out an obvious situation that has the potentials to destroy someone else's happy little world, they are labeled as a dictator/Population Czar. I'm definitely not trying to destroy your happy little GAY world in Atlanta. :emlaugh:

I read that little hypothetical tirade real well. It reminded me of some of those right wing ideas but this time on the left side. And I notice when ever you speak of Atlanta you are on gay a lot. That also reminds me of those right wing perverts that denounce homosexuality. The minute they get a chance they are laying with someone of the same sex. I'm just saying..... :emlaugh:

Now I'm a homophobic right wing pervert. So I guess when a lesbian woman like Rachel Maddow or a gay man like Anderson Cooper points out the exact same thing on their show, they become a right wing homophobic pervert too. But like I said before, no one is trying to destroy your happy little GAY world in Atlanta. :emlaugh:

Let me make sure you understand something. JROCK doesn't live in a gay world. No one's sexually repressed hoarded dark fantasies could be lived out through me. :emlaugh: I don't have anything against anyone's sexual preferences though. I respect anyone's right to choose as long as no one is trying to force their views on me.

I'm with you homie, but the obvious observation is that urban metro areas does weaken the Black vote nationally.

Again, I will agree to disagree. You would not have a Congressional Black Caucus to speak of if that was the case. Spreading out black people (in a fantasy world) would not solve the problem of gerrymandering. See Louisiana and Cleo Fields former district.

Okay, but maybe this would make more sense to you. Instead of Blacks migrating to large metro areas like Atlanta in vast numbers and migrated more to those smaller gerrymandered congressional district, maybe they could flip the majority in their favor. Some of those districts are like 1% to 5% of changing from red to blue.

If we were smart, we would start moving to rural areas and buying farmland. Taxes are lower and you can rent out the land to nearby farmers.

That has nothing to do with it. You of all people should know after the weird looking districts lawmakers drew to negate Cleo Fields seat. All they would do is draw another favorable right wing district. You're trying to sell a bad product. :emlaugh:

We are too afraid of building and maintaining an infrastructure ourselves. We rather move to large metro areas where the infrastructure is already built, but deteriorating.

What infrastructure do you speak of? If you're referring to roads, government build them not people. You show me a poor state and I will show you a bad infrastructure.

It takes time to redraw districts and we should try to stay one step ahead of them by keeping them busy in redrawing districts. They just might draw their azzes right out of the country. One thing I noticed by the White gay community, they'll move wherever there's a large number of right wing nut jobs just to piss them off. The late Rev. Falwell had a gay couple that intentionally brought a house right across the street from his church in Lynchburg, VA. Not only they lived across the street from his church, they would attend his church services every Sunday. That sh@t was funny as hell to me. Maybe that's why the Rev. Falwell didn't live long afterwards.

There's a lot more to an infrastructure than roads. There's potable water systems, sewer collection and treatment systems, natural gas systems, electrical systems, phone systems, etc. Not all systems are government funded and maintained. Also, you do know that Atlanta has one of the country's most inadequate drainage system, since its drainage system was built during the time when sewer and drainage systems were combined. So the next time it rains in Atlanta, you might want to be careful when walking through a puddle of water.

Not saying there is an issue with The City of Atlanta drainage system but the city accounts for about 1/8th of Metro Atlanta's population so most of the drainage systems (if not all) in the area works well (thank you very much). All of those other items you talked about the same principle applies. You're doing some serious reaching. In regards to moving to their neighborhoods there is this thing call white flight. Ever heard of it? :emlaugh:

Sure I've heard of White Flight, which is why Black folks should keep them flying right of the country.

Not to sound cynical or a hater, but I somewhat agree with jsu33. Black people limited economic wealth and ownership of hardly no natural resources makes it almost impossible for us to maintain any type of positive growth and prosperity over a long period of time in this country at one location. And when an area does experience a high growth rate in the Black population, most of the time there would come a point in time that the majority of the individuals moving-in would have more of a negative impact instead of a positive impact, basically turning into a fad for those that have nothing to offer. Tulsa, OK (The Black Wall Street) was the closest place in this country that had the potentials to empower a large number of Black people over a long period of time and you know what happen to it. How many Fortune 500 companies in Atlanta, GA are more than 50% owned by Black people? The badly directed movie Putney Swope is a good example of what would probably happen when Black folks are put in-charge of a major corporation.

I'm surprised Spike Lee, Tyler Perry and others haven't done a movie about "Black Wall Street." Honestly, I don't think white America want it shown. It's a lot different than the Rosewood area in Florida other than they both were burned to the ground.

It probably would show how Black folks once had control of different commodities that was very profitable. One thing this country is good for is making sure Black people do not control any vital resources that are very valuable to others. People in this country has and will do everything in their power to make sure Black folks in this country do not gain any economic wealth from natural land resources. I'm sure everybody on this board could share some kind of story how now profitable land was once owned by Black people. Maybe Spike Lee would make a movie, but I don't think Tyler Perry would, because most of Tyler Perry's movies are just the emotional feel good type movies, whereas a movie about the Black Wall Street would definitely not fulfill the emotional spirit since Black folks came out on the short end of the stick.

I live here in Charlotte and there have been a lot of people from the Atlanta metro to migrate up I-85 in the last few years because of the economy. Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities and I hope our leaders are paying attention to Atlanta on what NOT to do in regards to rapid growth. Atlanta always gives me a "big country city" vibe.

I'm sure if Charlotte's leaders see a need to keep the unwanted crowd from Atlanta from migrating to Charlotte, they'll develop a "Smart Growth Plan", which is the exact same thing Seattle did when folks from Los Angeles started migrating to Seattle in the 90's. Folks in Seattle were getting so bold that they were making signs that read, "Come visit, spend your money, but go home afterwards". IMO, anything entitled Smart Growth is another way of saying how to control the rapid growth of the Black population. Funny thing, my little hometown started looking at a Smart Growth Plan after it realized that the Black population had risen to 55% to 60% Black, which was due to the decline in the White population. The irony to that is how can a place develop a plan entitled Smart Growth when its population is declining? Maybe they should have entitled it "Smart Decline Plan", which would have been more appropriated.
