THE FLATS --- Seven home games, including dates with both ACC newcomers, and two nationally-televised Thursday night games highlight the 2013 Georgia Tech football schedule, released Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

In what will be Georgia Tech¡s 100th season playing home games at Grant Field, the Yellow Jackets will host Pittsburgh and Syracuse, the two newest members of the ACC. Georgia Tech;s other two home ACC games come against Coastal Division rivals North Carolina and Virginia Tech. The Jackets will close the regular season against in-state rival Georgia in the 108th meeting between the two schools.

The Yellow Jackets' five road games include a return trip to Clemson and games at BYU, Miami, Duke and Virginia. Tech will play at Clemson for the second straight year.

Two Tech games -- vs. Virginia Tech (Sept. 26) and at Clemson (Nov. 14) -- will be ESPN Thursday night affairs.

I only see three wins on that schedule (Elon, Duke and AAMU). Maybe 4 (NC or VA.) But I would not count on nc the new coach has a year under his belt.

I see Middle Tennessee State was not welcomed back on G. Techs 2013 schedule after what happened last year. :lol:

They actually scheduled two FCS programs this year. This looks like Alcorn State's schedule on a higher level.

We had a 3 year contract with them. They came to us in 2010, we went to them in 2011 and they came back to us in 2012. I'm sure we would have welcomed them back since we needed another 1-A team. Our AAMU game won't even count toward bowl eligibility. We will need to win 7 games to go bowling.

Notice, I said "possible" wins in my 2nd post. I didn't feel comfortable with listing Syracuse but they might slide by them also. They will be nowhere close to being bowl eligible though.
 
Georgia State is headed to the Sun Belt. In a couple of years Tech will have the 2nd best collegiate football program in Atlanta. Ga State will be on that Middle TN level. :lol: :emlaugh:

Why? This is a sports topic.

Tech will be strong this year. We return 15 starters from last year's team and the MTSU and Miami losses are 2 DCs ago. Al Groh is gone and we got the DC from Penn State (a Tech grad) who did well last year.

These games are automatic wins:
Aug. 31 ELON

Sept. 21 NORTH CAROLINA

Oct. 26 at Virginia
Nov. 2 PITTSBURGH
Nov. 23 ALABAMA A&M

We should also win at least 2-3 of these. UGA and BYU are really the only teams right now that I can't say we will beat becasue I have not seen how our new defense is going to look yet and i am not sure if BYU will be as strong this year as they were last year. We typically beat Clemson's azz and Miami and VaTech got lucky last year.

Pittsburgh and NC were transitioning last year. I wouldn't count on both of those wins. Perhaps a split.

I see only about 3-4 wins as well. maybe 5 if they can steal one from a Pitt or team like that but as someone said Pitt and NC were with first year coaches. They'll be better than they were last year.

LOL when is the last time Tech won 3-4 games? Tech is like JSU. We win 7 games automatically. It's the other 5 that make or break our season. We have had some upsets every year like losing to UVA, Kansas and MTSU but I don't see anything like that this year. Pitt and Syracuse gonna get their azzez beat in the ACC. I'm way more worried about Louisville than either of them.
 
Tech Should learn to Schedule more like Georgia.

What are you talkin about? Their schedule ain't that great. We only added AAMU once adding Notre Dame made the conference go from a 9 game conference schedule to an 8 game schedule. We will be fine going forward.

GT kind of waited until the last minute to get that 7th win. lol
 
Well at least they have Georgia and VT at home this year to help their attendance woes. Georgia, VT, Clemson and Miami are the only games people actually show up to see.

The non conference formula is what is good. 2 BCS (GT&Clem), 1 FBS(N.Tex), 1FCS(App. St). It is a disgrace for a team in a BCS conference to schedule two FCS teams. The folks in Georgia's athletic department just don't do things sloppy like GT did this year. I think GT should be sanctioned in some form or fashion for this lazy schedule.

Don't matter, we got it. :lol: But that was the reason for the change on the defense. With a defense, we woudl have won at least 2 more regular season games. I hate that we lost our interim DC to FSU. He was a good coach.

Yes, those are the main four along with Florida State but that goes for any program. Our fans are also going to be excited to have North Carolina, Pitt and Syracuse on the Flats this year as well.

JRock, hush. :lol: The late change had many ACC schools scrambling for a 12th game. We are good going forward.

And just so you know, we don't have attendance woes. What is that? We sell tickets and we have a good home attendance average. I have never gone to a Tech game wishing there were more people there. It does help when you play a "sexy" opponent or an opponent that travels well but we we have enough of our own fans to get up to 80-90% capacity at EVERY game.

We realize that we are not UGA and we thank God for it. We are a global university...literally.
 
TP, we're talking about football. Surely you have to know that in football UGA is much better known and respected. BTW check out that September schedule. You would be hard press to find a more competitive September schedule in the entire country compared to UGA. I really can't point at anything that would compel me to keep an eye on GT's schedule.
