49ers Cornerback Chris Culliver Is Not Cool With Gay People

Yesterday, Chris Culliver sat down for a radio interview with shock jock Artie Lange. The conversation did turn toward gays in the NFL. Here's how Culliver responded when Lange asked him if any players on the 49ers were gay:

I don't do the gay guys man. I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do. Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can't be…in the locker room man. Nah.

How progressive! The interview came to a hurried conclusion at that point, with Culliver saying something about gay players needing to wait ten years after retirement to come out. You can listen to an audio clip of the exchange below, courtesy of Yahoo Sports:

"The Gay Mafia" is about to attack him. Dude my get cut after the season. Ummmm he is in San Franscisco....:lmao:

the whole setup is made to give some dummy the platform to say something stupid so the media will have something to talk about for the boring 2 weeks leading up to the game.

I wish the Super Bowl would go back to the days where the players said very little prior to the game.

Well the NFL needs to stop allowing to much media access to the players the week of. Have one big media day and that's it.

Back in the day, the press would conduct interviews with certain players in their hotel rooms. Now, there are 5,000 credentials given out for the Super Bowl. But you know the NFL is not going to reduce access to the press. Goodell wants to promote the product as much as he can. It's up to the players to be sensible. But, these guys are coached by the PR people on how to handle the week before heading to the site.

You can coach all you like but that doesn't mean they will listen. We know one guy that might not be in the NFL next year.

Tim Hardaway send help. He could have said that in a better way than that.

How stupid can one get? The amount of money he could've made might be reduced substantially by that ignorant comment.:smh:

Reduced? Yea, but I don't think by much. But for him to make that kind of comment....as a 49er player???? Not smart.

First of all he is second string. So them under cover gay folks will get him traded to the Buffalo Bills.:emlaugh:

I also believe that he will not be treated negatively by his teammates, coaches, organization or the NFL as a whole. Meaning, he will not be 'Black Listed' for his comments. He simply expressed what 98.2 percent of the people in the league feel anyway.

It's ignorant to assume that you have a culture of 'acceptance' when it comes to homosexuality and sports. There is a direct opposite. A culture of 'non-accpetance' and a certain level of homophobia as well.

And by the way.....

If I were playing, I would feel EXACTLY as he does. We don't have unisex locker rooms for a reason. So if that reason is valid enough to build seperate restrooms, locker rooms, dressing rooms etc, then why should one pretend to be comfortable with someone of the opposite 'sexual orientation' seeing them in their most intimate way?
Not homophobia, just simple logic.

How do you know for sure. Do you have any documentation backing this up. I'm pretty sure it's high, but to claim an exact number is ludicrous at best.

This statement is puzzling at best, considering there are more than likely gay guys on the 49ers roster now. I know there are homosexuals on every team. When former players have come out following their careers, they've said they never approached any of their teammates in such a manner. Those players have said they wouldn't want to do or say anything that would make them standout among their teammates because they understand the culture.

One of the biggest misconceptions I was told is the notion that homosexuals will just push up on anyone or be attracted to anyone.

Besides, women are allowed in the locker room while dudes are walking around in their underwear or even nude, and there his never been an issue. One of my female colleagues covers Oklahoma State football and basketball. She was once asked about going into the locker room as a female reporter. She said it really wasn't a big deal. She was there to do her job and leave.

I think a lot of folks have the wrong impression in regards to this.

I don't know a number dude.. It was meant for effect. You know.. Being 'fasesious' (I can't even spell the word ) but that's what that's called :lmao:
