Domed Stadium for JSU

I hope this does work out for JSU. Ive talked to alot of people and they say this is gonna happen. When it does it is going to bring a lot of money into JSU and it will be great for the little league teams cause they will be able to play their games despite the weather and it will also build JSU recruiting even bigger than it is. The only thing I see that will cause a problem is that the players will have to get use to playing on turf will all the other swac schools are playing on grass.

 COOL!!!

Ok help me out...the State of Mississippi allows JSU to "use" their current stadium correct? Are there any fees attached to this? I could not listen to the video.

Again, very progressive move on JSU's part. I truly hope they can get this done. A dome stadium in the SWAC? This is great! I'd like to see the SCG hosted there.

JSU owns Memorial. The reasoning behind it we all know is to avoid forking over the money for a new stadium but it's their stadium.

I hope they get it as well. Would be a good look for the SWAC and FCS football (as well as us so that we can get our long overdue upgrades/renovations owed to us)

LOL!!!!!! @ that heffa in the video talmbout we need other things more like parking :crazy::crazy:

New 50,000 seat DOMED stadium..........................new parking lot? Yeah tough choice.

No.
JSU do do not own Memorial. Memorial is owned by the state. The state and the Department of Finance just turned the operating over to JSU to run as our own. JSU do not have ownership title to memorial. The department of Finance still controls Veterans Memorial budget. They just didn't want to be in the business of operating a football stadium when the state abolished the Stadium Commission back in 2008.

They need that BAAAAAAAAAAD. All the construction that has taken place on campus has wiped out the majority of parking on campus.

If you ever been on JSU's campus during the day, you will see why. There are no places to park except on the street. Most of the on campus parking is reserved for faculty. There is very little student parking on campus. JPD have a field day over there writing tickets and towing cars 5 days a week.

yea, if this goes through, Jackson might be putting in their proposal to house the SWAC headquarters and Football Championship. Might even pitch in for the basketball tournament if the Mississippi Coliseum plans to be improved and baseball tournament in Ridgeland.

Do students help pay for operation of JSU? Their money...They deserve a say. Some of you only come to a campus on a Football Gameday. Try living on a campus in 2013.

Oh...and good news for JSU .

Sometimes you have to let others have in order for you to have it all in the end.

 Man folks love to say there are more pressing issues on campus...Well that can be said for every University in America...Parking is an issue and I am sure the leaders at JSU have though about this. Jus because there isn't a big press conference for this doesnt mean that it hasnt been thought about.

.but if u were to do a poll at JSU with the facts I am sure that you will have alot more people vote for a stadium there are too many endless possibilities to gain revenue now one question I wanna know is where is the money gonna come from...?

dude please, if you have the opportunity for a 50,000 seat domed stadium and folks say naw....we want parking, that tells me all I need to know about your long-range thinking skills. How many other damn times do you think the state of Mississippi will be willing/open to helping any HBCU get a domed stadium (something neither State, Ole Miss, or USM has)? Of course you take into consideration what students say, but 18-22 year olds don't always see the big picture.

When this stadium is built, what is going to happen to memorial stadium? I mean JSU has put a lot of money into renovating it like adding the jumbo screen, and etc.

18-22 year olds help pay the bills and in 2013, 18-22 year olds are the reason night games are becoming obselete in the SWAC except on Thursday Night ESPNU .

Now when it comes to putting 18-22 year olds on a Committee to select a new Head Football Coach when they can't even tell you that left of the Center is ODD PLAYS and Right of the Center is EVEN PLAYS......I AGREE WITH YOU 100%!!!!

Well, I hope the proposal doesn't take as long as Birmingham has taken to materialize. If the school is having parking issues, they should consider building parking decks and a way to finance them. Both projects should be able to be addressed.

You probably won't like this response but from my experience....a winning Ole Miss Football Era is usually bad for all 3 SWAC Schools when it comes to money from the state...:smh::smh::smh:.

I personally think that the parking issue has been addressed a long ago and with this project coming forth its hard to believe that fixing the parking issue at the school was not addressed as well. What many fail to realized though many students commute to jsu. They have an apartment with friends, live at home, or ride together and park at the AAC and leave. The only one's that really live on campus are majority out of state students.

some of the improvement of Memorials should be able to transferable to the new stadium; jumbotron, LED screen, etc. the area of Memorial will be transformed to support hospital expansion. that's currently in a holding pattern until JSU moves out of Memorial.
