There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Classic

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

As many times as TN State has raped JSU's ass, I'm amazed they still keep you on the schedule for the Southern Heritage Classic. But then again, JSU needs TN State more than TN State needs JSU correct?

Another lie. JSU outdraws Tenn. State more times than not and we usually are in the top five in total FCS attendance, so why do we need Tenn. State? Besides, the overall head to head record for both schools isn't that great, certainly not nearly as great as JSU's head to head domination of Alcorn.

I hate to be "that guy" but unless FAMU was in that game no one would go see it.

In what game? I think that is what Braveheart is saying. Alcorn vs FAMU. Not Alcorn vs somebody else.

Now if you are saying that FAMU has to be one of the schools in the Atlanta Classic to make it a success. I don't buy that. There are some other combinations that would work.

I agree. I've been to many "classics" in Atl that drew big crowds and didn't include FAMU

Hell Bama/JSU in 91 i think was a big game in Fulton County Stadium....Southern JSU Bama St (mayb even A&M and Grambling) would do well in an ATL Classic it has happen before...

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

Maybe Alcorn can start back playing howard again in St.Louis

Yup, I remember that. Labor Day Wknd. Nightcap of a doubleheader. First game was AUC schools, I believe Clark/MoB.
Jsu was the defending SWAC Champions (although ASU was the best team that year too. We whooped Jsu 42-28 to give them their only swac loss. Southern had cheated us and called back 2 TDs and "won" 7-6. TxSou had beat us on a last second FG 24-23. )

Good weather, wknd, crowd and game. ASU won 28-27 and finished the year undefeated.
:tup::tup:

but I digress.....
:D

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

How many points y'all win by in the Great Return of The Soul Bowl?

Alcorn Football program is right on track with all your threads.
Let that marinate on that bird brain.

As if y'all dominated the game.. Not! Alcorn killed themselves! 3-6 at the half...speak on this and not on that.... And what good is being contender and always loose..ijs

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

Don't get mad at me. Lol
I'm only trying to help out the less fortunate.
You're the one complaining about not having a OOC HBCU rival

Win a SWAC championship first, become relevant and an eastern conference contender on the regular, get you some fans and then maybe someone will take you serious enough and want to schedule a game with you on a yearly basis.

And how dare you bring up Tenn State beating us when you have
JSU
The Bamas
And Valley kicking y'all ass!
Now simmer on down. You're the bottom feeder right now so deal with it.

Again, try scheduling that classic with Paul Quinn.
Y'all both share the same award, Both wear purple & gold colors. Almost identical fanbases
I think that's right up y'all alley.

Ok.. The same ones y'all barely beat....

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

Alcorn until you actually become relevant, you really can't argue football with JSU or the Bama's.

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

Well Paul Quinn won the HBCU OTY Award the year before y'all did.
So maybe y'all can team together & start the HBCU of The year Classic.
And yall can play each other every year in Shreveport.

If I'm not mistaking, Bama St./JSU played in the ATL two years in a row in 90/91. Then, JSU refused to play over there again until organizers of the game paid them on time. Both games were well attended. I hope I'm not mistaking the Bama St./GSU game for one of those years, but that game was well attended as well.

From what I'm hearing, Braves you won't be in this years game based on rumors of other teams that I'm hearing.

HS,
We played Gram in Atl one year. That was part of a doubleheader too. LOL

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

There isn't one combination vs Alcorn in Atlanta that's going to draw as well as FAMU does here, period. I've seen plenty of games and classics here and don't recall a single one that came even close to drawing the numbers that FAMU has put up since they started the Atlanta Classic. I mean let's be real, the game has been in the top 4 classics attendance wise until they started playing SU. So no, Alcorn vs no one in the SWAC is going to draw as well as FAMU. Post the attendances of these "big classics."

You get no argument there on Alcorn vs somebody else. We didn't say that. We said there are other HBCU combinations without FAMU involved that can generate a crowd in that game.

FAMU is not the only school someone has to play to get a big crowd. If SU and JSU decided to move their game to the ATL against each other. I think that would be a draw. If Bama State played JSU in Atlanta, I think that would do well. Jackson State vs Tn State if they ever moved it from Memphis would do good in the ATL. Bama State vs Tn State would probably do well. Not sure if BCU would do okay there.

Right now even FAMU can't pack that Ga Dome anymore without help. That game was already getting stale somewhat is the reason why they wanted to change the opponent for FAMU. Now unfortunately SU was in year two of Stump and folks just have gotten so damn complacent within the Jag Nation about traveling that they did not come to Atlanta with 90s or early 2000s type crowd. But neither did the FAMU folks either. Last year we knew it would be a drop off without the 100 vs the Jukebox battle. These Classics have taken the fans for granted across the board. Even these Bowl games ain't selling out at the FBS level like talking about. It is going to be hard to get the numbers back up to the hey day of these Classics.

Folks don't mind being in these cities to party. But the game is secondary. Poor Circle City Classic has even dropped off to nothing.

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

For the most part, college football attendance across the nation was down. That may have something to do the the economy also. I just believe folks entertainment dollars are down or obsolete in some instances.

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

I think AAMU and TU or AAMU vs SC St should be in the Atl. Those games would get at least 40K.

I agree with it all...These Classics have all gone down hill the Atlanta Classic is a shadow of its former self TSU has some of the most horrible bandwagon fans around they only go to the games for the party and fashion part of it..I think that without the 100 marching the Atl Classic may go with it...I remember in 2003 when we played FAMU in Indy that thing was PACKED but I dont ever see that happening anytime soon....I think HBCUs should reset the trend and putting things back in our HOME stadiums again because the classics just aren't cutting it the entertainment aspect of it sucks..

As for this topic Alcorn until u can have a winning season there is no reason to talk football..U guys always seem to be begging for respect when u have done nothing to earn that!

That's right. It was-and at that time they called it "The Bronze Classic" and I think the 100 Black Men of Atlanta also supported that game. I did attend that game and the JSU game.

Re: There is NO Excuse For Alcorn To Not Participate in the 2013 Atlanta Football Cla

JSU talking about Alcorn being relevant in Football? JSU of Today= The Buffalo Bills of the 1990s.

See BH knows about JSU's history of saltiness toward Alcorn. See TSPNers, let me tell you guys a Secret: JSU hates Alcorn because they STILL haven't gotten over the fact that Alcorn has been a better Brand for exposing the US NATION to the POSITIVE of SWAC Football in Mississippi.

Notice how everytime since then they have played us they always want to seem to pad the stats when up by 2 or more touchdowns?

Alcorn brought the exposure to the SWAC in Mississippi that JSU wishes it could. JSU doesn't even own the highest attended game in the Vet. McNair was......well, McNair (JSU Folks are STILL SALTY about that 1994 game when McNair basically showcased for Pro Scouts. Notice how JSU Folks always want to score 50 on Alcorn? It is because of that 1994 game. A lot of JSU folks did not want the game in the Vet because they were afraid their school was just the "whipping boy" for a future NFL Player...in front of the white folks ).

See TSPNers, no matter how many Championships or how many times they beat Alcorn, Alcorn will always be more Nationally known for exposing they POSITIVES OF SWAC FOOTBALL IN MISSISSIPPI. We exposed the Mississippi White Folks to the Best SWAC Football Can Offer in Mississippi, not JSU.

Now non-JSU TSPNers, watch how they try to blow me off as crazy. But they know the truth.
