Rumors

Frat, you know I know what the deal is. I am just wondering if the Prez and AD understand the JSU dynamic if they have to go hire a coach. Don't get me wrong, I doubt it would be Asberry anyway. I aint buying into that rumor. But it did get me to thinking what your Prez and AD would do if they do get rid of Comegy or he left.

BTW, don't mention Shannon or you will have GR in here cursing mofos out. He don't want any parts of that cat back at JSU. He would rather you guys hire Mark Orlando than Shannon.

Don't know why.
None of these Jack legged coaches we have hired or want is any better than Shannon and that is the truth. :lecture:

I'll bet nobody on this board can name a coach out of the 10 that is currently coaching in the SWAC that is head and shoulders better than Shannon. There ain't one people can name and back it up with PROOF.

JR, this would be the biggest blessing in disguise for our Athletic Department.

At this point. I would agree with you on that. No way can things be cool right now between him and his bosses with him trying to get that FAMU job. That is not a step up job. No offense to FAMU. But if you can't win consistently at JSU then what does he think he can do at FAMU? They need no more controversy around their school with all that has happened over there. Comegy is the last person they need and he is crazy to want to leave JSU for another HBCU. That is a lateral move at best.

Easy....Doug is better. Proof....Compare the two resume'(s)

Ahh............ Proof.
And I'm talking everything. Dougs has only coached in the SWAC at Grambling. I wonder what Doug would have been like as a OC at a small budget FBS school like Shannon was at Marshall. Do you think DOUGS offense would have come in and dominated the MAC when Marshall was a member. Would Dougs offenses be able to compete in CON-USA where Marshall is now? :noidea:

Frat. GR is going to see this and lose his mind. LOL.

In my opinion John Shannon had some great offenses. But he never beat great defenses. One of the reasons he ain't still coaching at the FBS level. Just my opinion. GR had to point that out to me after a few times of me and him going back and forth when Shannon was there at JSU. So I started looking closely at that. He was right. As for Shannon being better than every SWAC coach. I will again say, that ain't saying much either. LOL. But remember Shannon did not get one FCS offer as head coach either after being dumped at the coordinator level. Can't say his color held him back either. So folks don't think much of him to be only coaching at the HS level in MS now. Just saying.

JR, seriously, jsu is not the program they used to be. Winning consistently at jsu is totally contingent upon the work put in by recruiting and developing. FAMU has much more fertile recruiting grounds than jsu. After Mississippi big 3 mine the magnolia for football talent, jsu is left with crumbs compared to what they once got. I say all of this to say that FAMU is a job with better opportunity and chances to get better athletes than in Jackson. FAMU IMHO, is a better job.

Shannon was putting op 30, 40, 50 or more points a game.
Wasn't his fault.

Our problem back when Shannon was OC was our defenses either couold not stop another offense or would always give up big plays to fugg the game up. Look at NCa@t winning one or two games a year but they would kick our azz because our defense could not stop nobody on a consistant basis.

I think GR was pissed that your offense could never put up them kind of points against SU during that time. Pete never allowed Shannon to get off like that on SU. All I know is he ain't in demand by nobody. So his cred must not be as good as we think. He made it all the way up to OC at Marshall I believe after being at Toledo. You would have thought he would have gotten a shot somewhere like the rest of them MAC assistants like Brian Kelly who is ND's coach and the rest who have made it to Head jobs. Something don't register.

Shannon was a HC on the FBS level? When? I thought he was only over the offense?

No. He was never a Head Coach. That's my point. Even after being an OC at the FBS level. He didn't make it to a Head Job at that level or at at FCS job like his fellow MAC assistants did.

He left college and came home to the coast.
Got Biloxi Highschool raising hell after being sorry as hell for decades.

It's not like his work was not in the top percentage of coaches holding the same position / title while coaching college. He just never got on a well funded football staff/program.
John Shannon coaching history.......Sucess.........Rank

C'mon on Frat. Shannon ain't a Ms native. That dude is from MAC territory. He is from Kentucky somewhere originally. Dude may just like the weather in Biloxi or his wife is from down there.

Something is wrong with this picture.

94-2000 he is JSU OC.
2001-02 he is Troy's OC as they move up to FBS after sitting out a year as a coach
2002-03 something must have happened at Troy because he only lasted a year as the OC
03-08 he goes to Toledo as WR coach and then moves up to OC later
08-10 he is at Marshall as OC until current Texas A&M DC Synder resigned as Head Coach of Marshall.

So you mean he rises all the way up to OC several times at FBS level schools and can't find a FCS head job or a lower tier FBS head job or coordinator position? If he gave up on college coaching to deal with HS kids in Biloxi. He must be done with college ball or folks just were not enamored with him to give him a job somewhere.

I thought he was from the coast. That what they always refer as his home around here since his JSU days.

So let me get this right:

Comegy wants to leave the SWAC because SU coach will be in Jackson eating all the Stamps burgers?

:lmao:
