I'm not exactly counting meac wins lol...the last time yall even made the playoffs was...when? My point was people are acting as if TnSU schedule has made them so much better than the rest and I used you as an example to debunk that theory basically. And it was actually not a diss by saying you haven't been good in a while, more like saying even when you arent good you still beat them.

I have been saying that forever on this board. Just playing them without a plan is not doing anything but making them laugh at our ineptness even more. You can't just show up in the playoffs with no experience in playing the tough FCS opponents. So if your conference is weak. Guess what? You gone get smashed more than likely because your schedule was garbage. Don't we see it at the FBS level? Isn't the SEC said to be so tough because their competition is so fierce in their conference that they are able to manhandle other conferences in bowl games? Same thing for FCS. Just on a smaller scale because none of the schools are loaded with FBS level talent. But you got to have a plan on how you going to compete at the highest level of FCS. I am not saying don't play them until you have a plan. But we need to have our ducks in a row with good coaching and good student athletes if we expect to win some of those games. If that means offering that white OL a schollie or a Samoan kid etc. Then you do it. We get whooped a lot in the trenches anyway. That is the root of our problems along with poor coaching which shows up when we play those teams. Maybe some of our coaches need to take a Saban like approach just on a FCS level. Organization is key. Often times we look lost and confused.
 
I think we over scheme and try to be too creative... just be fundamentally sound in technique, know your assignment, and upgrade your talent through physical and mental preparation. We may not get kids with stars behind their names, but neither are some of the folks we're losing too. I have seen a tendency to overcoach, especially offensively where coaches get caught up in their own hype and tend to not execute properly and it all falls to pieces. Not trying to make it sound simple, but making sure everyone knows their assignment, prepare them physically to be at top performance and stress Effort and Execution. You will win lots of ball games on our level without the so-called "D1" talent. In a lot of instances, those kids aren't any better athletically than ours...they just have more of them.
 
I've been harping on diversity on the playing field other than kickers, punters, and qbs. :smh: Quite a few get offended when I've suggested hiring/acquiring the best available, regardless of skin tone. What I recv is a shellacking of history's "but dey did dis to us back in da day... Blahhhhhhhhhh." Too many live in the past. I want 80+% of PV's current staff replaced.

FCS football would be almost none existent (to the general world) if it wasn't for the HBCU football experience. think about it

JSU has a white linebacker. First time I've seen a white guy in the SWAC in a defensive "back(er)" position. They're usually linemen, QB or kicker.

This is a good point as well.

Most people on this board somewhat follow FCS football (some outside of the SWAC and maybe MEAC) but I doubt most college football fans could even name the Division I-AA national champ from just last season (NDSU) and definitely not the previous season (EWU).

That's the Catch 22 for us. Yes our quality is not up to par but the SWAC (and some MEAC schools) is the only one ESPN is putting on TV outside of the playoffs. I'm sure ESPN wouldn't be still putting us on TV if the numbers weren't good enough.
 
My last comment {maybe}., playing a PWC does not make your team better. But, let's admit it, they are better coached and prepared than 95% of the HBCU's. This is not about the OVC or TSU, do beleve playing in the OVC has made us a better team, because we have had to learn how to play both kinds of ball and there is a difference between playing black football and white football although the game is the same.

My position has always been, HBCU often barg on how good their teams are, that only within their own conference. However, often when they play out of the HBCU conference they will loose. So I say, as others has, play the PWC's. I think, most do not want to play them, if for the fear of loosing.

It was only two or three years ago, most of you were cring about not having an opportunity to play schools such as; SFA, Sam Houston LA Tech and a few more. What happened, now some are sounding like they are afraid to play those schools.

Are you serious, that's a goodwill gesture. ESPN, is not the only channel that airs Football, I have watched, Cornell, Harvard, Yale, Pit, Cincy, Michigan, ECU, UTC, MTSU and other games on various channels.

Seem to me, that's why they broadcast a majority on the delayed broadcast...
