Prairie View's entire precussion section suspended for two weeks for hazing effective September 13, 2012.

Wow....we can't continue to act like this hazing doesn't happen at every school...we just don't hear about it as much, but this is a problem. a Real problem.
 
What on the hell is it going to take to get it across these kids mind?

If you knew what the allegded hazing is you would laugh and told that person to handle their bizness........

The president should be brought up on charges of hazing for what he did to the trumpet section for taking a picture standing next to a football teams bus.

I heard about that last night when I got to Houston. While it was a little out there, it was a harmless prank between rival bands and I don't think people were upset about it. Plus it was the football bus lol I think your new band director and Dr. Wright wanted to send a message of discipline though. Are the videos of the apology really on YouTube?

Dr Wright is running all of that. Dr Zachery had to follow orders from the chain of command. And if you read the Texas code on hazing, Dr Wright committed a crime for how he made them apologize. He also told them to do it or get kicked out of school, not out the band but school

Yep, it is on youtube. There are also pictures of it all over the place.

TGirl what would have made it funny would be a picture of the band bus with TSU members and a caption saying, next time read the sign on the bus, cold blooded the joke was really on us LOL
 



The problem is they have on PV band uniforms pretending to piss on a bus. That is called ignorance. The problem is the black community is so ignorant in 2012 and trashy no one sees a problem with it. If you have on your company gear and do something ignorant your company will fire you or has grounds to fire you. The same can be said with this picture. The problem is black folks accept ignorance in our community. That is why we have all the highest rates for everything in the AA community. I am beginning to see why Micheal Jackson tried to bleach his skin.........

I agree with you that the picture is wrong since they have on official school uniforms. However...you are going waaayyy overboard trying to make a "Black Community" statement based on this prank. :lol: It was a funny prank, but just went bad b/c they had on PV stuff. Lesson learned...I think all the punishment choices were too harsh.

An apology was warranted...but not one made public on youtube and definitely not a daymn suspension. Even though the suspension is weak since the football travels these two weeks anyway and the band wasn't going anyway. :emlaugh:

Ninja, I ain't that dumb. :lol:

It just looks like a good old college prank to me though. I am normally one of the sticklers for discipline on the board but I don't think this is as bad as people are making it out to be.

Fiyah, I think Wright's reaction over this has more to do with the folks at College Station than anything else.
