BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
After what many Southern University fans are calling an "embarrassing" showing on the football field last night, the future of head coach Stump Mitchell is on the line.

A meeting took place Friday morning between Southern officials and Mitchell.

According to sources, Jags officials are asking for Mitchell's resignation.

He is 6-18 overall and 0-2 this season.

He was more of the problem than the staff. The offense sucked and he was calling the plays. The defense only gave up 6 because of the turnover inside the 5.

Exactly. Special teams got us great field position every time.
 
I would allow him to stay and not renew his contract and since the offer is out there SU should began looking for a replacement NOW!
 
well...it was coming with those numbers, especially after that showing on national TV.

According to #Southern sports information director Chris Jones, Stump Mitchell is in his office and will lead the team's 1 p.m. film review.

He will not resign. I am sure he will be reassigned. He is going to get his money for this year one way or the other. I don't think we are asking to get out of the contract. Stump aint that stupid. LOL. His contract is already budgeted anyway and all we would do is promote one of the assistants as interim coach and begin our coaching search ahead of everyone else who will be changing coaches for next season. Hopefully that means right after the BC we will have a new coach in place ready to go.

He stated he would give money back to SU anyway for his piss poor results.

He would save himself time if he would just leave. I'm tired of seeing his clueless azz on the sideline. They say not coming to the games hurt the players. Stump is hurting his damn players as well. Pathetic
 
Where everybody fail to realize in my Nino Brown voice this shyt is bigger than Southern University If SU goes down the whole SWAC goes down and I have a list of names to prove it

Everbody know SU is a money game for the rest of the SWAC
 



so who is on the short list for replacements? i hope is not the same old coaches that been recycled time and time again through the hbcu football programs.

If the SWAC continues to recycle we will get the same results

This is an opportunity for su to make a much needed change and regain the support of alumi and other supporters. Drop the false bravado, the nation saw your dirty draws on live TV.

Who knows what the list will look like at this point. Mainly because a lot of coaches who may be interested can't talk to us until their season is over. So unless you got some guy who is out of work already on your list, you just got to sit back and do your homework on who you might want to reach out to when you are allowed too. Since we have a YOUNG and go getter AD who has no ties to HBCUs, I expect the coaching search to be different from the past unless our BOS interferes. If they let Dr. Broussard do his job as AD, I expect he would go after a young viable candidate.

How is it that? Are you saying that We, the 9 Swac schools, need that one SU game every other year to stay afloat?
Interesting... We depend on SU yet SU can't keep itself afloat with 4-5 home games EVERY YEAR... Resulting in them moving a home to JSU just to make a profit.

Don't nobody need y'all. Just worry about increasing your own home attendance before you worry about how you're effecting others because honestly, you need us!

This is SU's problem. Don't you put that evil on us Ricky Bobby.

There is nothing false about it. Last year when SU came to Houston to play TxSU, our alums do what they always do. SHOW UP. If that game was next week in Houston with Stump as coach......TxSU would not see those same folks in the stands meaning less money for your school. Let's not act like SU don't help your bottom line when they come to play you. Folks complained about it when we went to that 7 game schedule. Now I understand the Nation has not traveled hard like they did several years ago when SU was winning big. But we still bring a decent crowd to opposing stadiums. And if we are winning big, we will take over some of your stadiums. Let an undefeated SU roll to your town and see what happens. So us having a good coach who is winning is good for the SWAC. That is not a brag or boast. It is what has happened in the past so if the winning starts again, the crowds traveling will increase.
