JSU official: Tyrann Mathieu interested in JSU

JSUDMJ2004

JSU enuff said!
I just spoke with Jackson State’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement, David Hoard, who said former LSU Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu is indeed interested in transferring to JSU, to the point that the former LSU star is rumored to want to take an unofficial visit to the JSU campus.

“We have heard through third parties that (Mathieu) is interested in an unofficial visit to Jackson State,†Hoard said. “We’re looking forward to that visit.â€

Hoard said a visit had not yet been scheduled. He also said Mathieu was reportedly slated to take an unofficial visit to JSU today at 2 p.m., but that he was rumored to still be at McNeese State.

“We’re waiting to hear from him,†Hoard said.

Hoard said no one from JSU has personally reached out to Mathieu, but was instead receiving this information from “third parties.â€

Hoard said the university is still looking into the factors that led to Mathieu’s dismissal from LSU earlier this week and the possible NCAA ramifications of those factors before deciding which — if any — steps to take next.

Stay tuned.

Hoard should've kept this info to himself. First of all he's not the coach or AD, he's the chief fundraiser. Second, All this talk about 3rd parties and such, I won't assume a kid is interested until I know that he's made contact with the coach. Mathieu may indeed be interested but this story is a bit sketchy.

Hoard should let Comegy do the talking. Comegy knows how to give a no-answer answer.

Ummmm, I think i know the answer to this but I was just wondering does JSU conduct drug test?

I can agree with this.

Hoard responding to the question seems a bit odd. Who pointed our beat writer in his direction?

We do have a good beat writer tho. He seems to really enjoy his job.

Um, it was reported yesterday and the day before that he was interested in coming to JSU. Not new news.

I can definitely agree with this..This one time I am pulling for JSU and PVAMU.

That dude gonna be right at McNeese. Stevie Wonder can see that. I guarantee he probably has his stuff on campus now there, and will say something 2morrow or Tues. A couple of days ago dude said he's staying in Louisiana on his personal facebook page on Friday because he wants to be close to his two little daughters, that should tell you something plus he hasn't contacted PV nor JSU.

I agree. But Institutional Advancement does fall under PR/University Communications/Sports Information (at least it did when I worked in JSU's PR office). But SI should've still been on top of this and not allowed Hoard to speak to this.

Man, nobody knows where Tyrann Mathieu is going except...Tryrann Mathieu.

I've read everything from he's interested in attending McNeese State, JSU, PV and even Bethune-Cookman. For all we know dude could have had conversations with several other schools, too. Throwing out all these names could be a ploy to gain leverage for whatever benefits he could gain by attending a certain school.

That may all be true, but until he enrolls he's fair game.

Also, assuming his daughters live in or around New Orleans, Jackson is little bit closer than Lake Charles. From BR its about what and what. I doubt the distance would work against us.

yeah usatoday. Try again.

I won't say school names. But I KNOW the JSU haters (soooo, that will be 'bout 90% of ya'll) just hoping that chile goes to McNeese. :emlaugh:

I honestly don't have a problem with him going to JSU (or McNeese either). Of the two, if I had a preference, I'd want to see him go to JSU. He'd have more impact on our offense at McNeese than he would at JSU. (snicker)

Seriously, it would be fun seeing if he can catch Roberts on an angle or not. I know lots of guys from GSU would relish the chance to go against a player of his reputation. Now if he decides to go to Grambling, I don't have a problem...he will work himself into the lineup, IF he's up to the task.

GSU or SU would be good choices for him as he would get plenty of coverage in the Bayou Classic.

Fair game for teams but its evident dude already has his mind made up to stay in Louisiana. He has contacted McNeese but not JSU or PV, get the picture? LSU handed him on a silver platter, he can't enroll anywhere until 2morrow that's the hold up with an official announcement. BTW you got that right about distance, a little bit closer and i mean a little.

MB you know how LSU does it, they block those players from going to GSU and SU lol

Man please....If he's good enough to be a star and Heisman finalist for the SEC Champs, I'm pretty sure he would start right away at Grambling or any other FCS school. Yall would have his name on the starting board before he even puts on a uniform. Come on now...

Dude, you're just guessing. It won't be evident until HE makes it official.

Well if that's true then we'll find out soon enough. Until then we'll speculate like we do all the time on here. JSU and PV were mentioned by ESPN for a reason. Just because he can't enroll until tomorrow doesn't mean he has to wait until then to announce his intentions. He has nothing to gain by having the media speculate about where he's going. If its McNeese just say it is - this isn't National Signing Day. My guess is he's leaning strongly towards McNeese but either he or more likely someone in his circle wants him to look at an HBCU before making the final move.

He probably has family connections to JSU. Les may be pushing McNeese but he does not have to be like Perriloux. He might make up his own mind. He has blue blood running thru this veins!

.

You better up your game on offense anyway to beat JSU this year but you already know that. I'm not convinced you can get past AAMU yet.
