Summer Camp at JSU: QB battle

The NFL is cutting back on "harder" practices, while cats like Comegy is grinding college kids into the ground.

Do u know what u talking about? Comegy is just talking his practice will be the same like they always are....Thanks for speaking without knowing what u talking about...:smh:

So if he's such a great recruiter, why are you guys such infrequent participants in the SCG? Where have your team finished in the East the past 4 seasons? If the talent is being recruited, can we attribute the lack of SCG participation on coaching?

We lead the series on every SWAC School except GSU so our talent shows. Also, we have gone 3 times and that is with taking 3 years off and we never had to backdoor our way in.

It's coaching MB, bottom line. The SWAC for the most part is a victim of it. But Comegy and staff have been some of the worst at it. Stupid stuff like throwing on the worst run defense last year. Things like that. Comedy reminds me of Dale Brown at LSU, helluva recruiter and has all the talent and pieces to win SCGs, etc, but can't coach their way out of a paper bag. He's lucky he had Casey for two years and a good defense to carry his a$$.

I could sworn that Comegy always has a good defense and the he won many games in his career without Casey.

Look at Comegy's (JSU) career in-conference coaching numbers - Please post if you are impressed!

Some of those Gram teams were just better (Yeah, I said it). The last two and 2006 were definitely games we should have won.

I respect your post, but the "should have could have" talk could go both ways. I felt Grambling "should have and could have" done much more on offense than they did. Now, in 2006, what game did you go to? Beacuse the game that I went to showcased Jackson State getting dragged all over the field in route to a 36-7 loss. There was no way Jackson could have and should have won that game.

I played in that 2006 azzwhipping lol. Man, Gram was not playing good that year at all man. We came in over cocky, some dummies wanted to stomp on the G and we got our azzez whipped.

I agree that the Should of, would of, could of talk is utter bull. I was just giving my opinion. I offer no excuses. Gram has been whipping our azz for a while now.

2006 was coaching. He means talent wise. We had the talent in 2006 over GSU by a longshot but in 2006, Comegy tried to run a D2 defense. When we were 5-1, fans kept telling him that D2 defense won't work. In 2007, we lost to GSU on coaching too. We changed our defense to prepare for GSUs offense? Why? GSUs offense was sorry. But those were growning pains for a staff new to D1 ball.

Poor play calling down the stretch against Grambling the past two years for sure!

Every coach on EVERY level makes a bad call but maybe that was a bad call in hindsight. I don't exactly call last year bad coaching. Our player made a mistake and GSU capitalized on it. But hey, it was also up to the Darkside to stop GSUs offense from making a 20 yard drive.

TP I can understand your point about losing to coaching. For instance those games lost last year was because of Doug's coaching and wanted to run an offense that the team was not equipped to succeed with. Yet, I look at it like this...and I emphasize I....when Grambling's Football Team loses all Grambling supporters lose.

Yet to consistently state someone's team is sorry when the said team is basically demolishing other schools with the exception of Southern warrants the comments to be part of Anderson Cooper's RIDICUlist....

In the SWAC?

Comegy went 5-4 in 2006, 7-2 in 2007, 6-1 in 2008, 3-4 in 2009, 6-3 in 2010, and 7-2 in 2011. Am I supposed to hide my head in shame over that? Only GSU has done any better. Most others are WAY worse.

Regardless of the games outcome, that does not change how horrible GSUs offense was. If GSU think they can beat JSU with that same pitiful offense they had last year...

So if GSU's offense was horrible....JSU's defense was just plain non-existent. Since JSU's offense failed to produce points to win...GSU's defense was on point that day. Is this a proper theory since Grambling won?

I think I was at the '06 game and I assure you, Gram could've scored at will if they wanted. Jstate couldn't write "td" w/ pen and paper if you gave it to the players. I'd never seen Gram so aggressive on O or D. It was then I knew that Gram showed potential to play down to an opposer's level :read:. Strictly based upon how I saw Gram play vs PV and then JS.

Frat, you good people...BUT, yall came in overrated that year. I say that because as I recall, yall ended up winning "maybe" one more game the rest of the way.

2006 the one 1 game the rest of the way and yes that 2006 JSU team was good but not as good the 07 team....Defense was shaky that year...we had an overrated secondary....that unit gave up waaayy too many big plays in 2006....
