HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
Mike Davis, who led Indiana to the Final Four in 2002 and was named Conference USA Coach of the Year at UAB after the 2010-2011 season, has agreed to become the interim coach at Texas Southern.

The TSU job opened last month when Tony Harvey resigned for personal reasons.

"It's a great opportunity for me to get back into coaching," Davis said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "I've researched Texas Southern's program.

"I thing Harvey left some real good players there. They had a good program and it's one of the better jobs in the (SWAC) conference, and I'm excited to get back working and teaching."

Davis is a recruiting beast! Watch the talent that will come to Texas SO.... Davis has major connects all over the country. UAB was DUMB to fire him a season after making the big dance. UAB easily had the best basketball program in the state with half the funding of Bama and Auburn.

Jackson St might try and steal him from us but we'll easily outbid them.

Easily!:smug:

Hey this is a BBall thread. You know how some folk like to thread jack, please don't give them an excuse.

Back to the TSU INTERIM BBall Coach!

Can you elaborate please, I don't know much more than his name and bio. Help me with what you base this on. Thanks!

UAB had the best program in the state before he got there. Mike Anderson had gone to the tournament three straight years, Davis only managed to go once in six years.

I wonder why was he hired as an interm?

For strategic purposes. In essence, we are renting him. This way if he gets the team hot and wins SWAC and a larger program comes after him, he can walk away without contractual obligations.

That's what I figured. Also if The NCAA comes down with the hammer he can leave also.
