LSU, Alabama, USC 1-2-3 in Coaches poll

JaguarNation99

That's Dr. JN99 to you...
LSU picked up 18 first-place votes in the first USA Today coaches' poll -- two fewer than Alabama -- but the Tigers edged the Crimson Tide for the top spot in the preseason rankings.

LSU picked up 1,403 points in voting of the nation's coaches, edging defending national champion Alabama with 1,399.

USC also had more first-place votes than the Tigers -- 19 -- but is third in the initial poll with 1,388 points. Balloting was finished before the Trojans signed Silas Redd, the transfer from Penn State.

Over-rated underacheivers every year.
And it's too early for all that Roll Tide business.

Georgia is going to be dangerous this year. They have just about the entire defense returning and the offense led by Aaron Murray. It will be either Georgia or SC coming out of the SEC East for the championship game. Some of those guys at GA actually decided not to turn pro to come back and according to them vie for the conference championship (their words not mines).

Thats the thing.

Georgia should be dangerous every year. Every year they come out and fall flat on their face against a team they should beat. I'm picking Vanderbult to be that team this year in their 4th game. Georgia escaped 33-28 last year. They will not beat FLORIDA this year and I doubt they will beat South Carolina either. Thats 3 losses I'm predicting for Georgia.

I agree that they are under achievers. I'm no Georgia fan but I don't know though, this 2012 team is really loaded. I think the prognosticators got it about right. They also have a soft schedule. If SC get past them, SC still have a tougher road because they have an appointment with LSU.

GA has the most favorable SEC schedule. They do not play AL, LSU or ARK during the regular season.

They didn't play AL, LSU or ARK last year either. But look what happened when they finally did play one of the big boys . . . they got stomped.

And the SEC East is WEAK.

Its been weak since Saban left Tebow in tears, and sent Urban Meyer to the ER. Tennessee ain't hittin' on nuthin', and Spurrier's gotten about all he's gonna get out of S. Carolina. So, winning the SEC East ain't really a big deal. All its gonna get you is a date for a butt whippin' courtesy of The Crimson Tide . . . .

That's stating the obvious. Why else do you surmise LSU and Bama is ranked ahead of them? :emlaugh: The question is are they the 6th best team in the country. I believe that they are a top 10 team in 2012.

Based on what? Their weak schedule? LMAO!!!

Since when does having a weak schedule make you a good team?

Why don't you do some research and make the determination on your own? I have given you my perspective. If you think that their schedule has something to do with the caliber of their team, I'm not sure your logic is the best. I do think that folks that vote in the Coaches poll easily have a better perspective and more expertise than you though.

I said that having a weak schedule doesn't mean you're a good team. Remember, these teams haven't played a game.

This is a pre-season poll.

You should not rank teams high in the pre-season just because they have a weak schedule, and an easier road to a possible conference championship game, where they'll undoubetly be crushed.

Again, these boys are loaded. Georgia loss three players on defense but gained 1 that was hurt last season so they actually have a net loss of 2 players on defense. Half of their offense has also returned. Georgia will be a formidable foe and capable of beating anyone on any given Saturday. The schedule is soft but has little to do with the talent returning. Did you take a poll of all of the coaches that voted in the "pre-season" poll to determine if their vote has something to do with GA's schedule? How many of them voted this way because of the aforementioned and name them. Is any team in America besides USC in 2012 capable of not getting "crushed" by the SEC West Champion?

Hey JROCK, don't be surprised if Georgia loses their first game of the season . . . . to Missouri. I'm not predicting a Georgia loss, but I sho' ain't predicting a Georgia victory either.

They're not as good as you think, and this game could go either way.

If Georgia is going to get caught, it would be early on. They have a couple of guys that have suspensions to serve in the opener. This team can very easily go 10-1 or repeat last year's regular season record of 9-2 (not counting championship or bowl games). They were 3 points away last regular season of going 10-1

Yeah, but they were about five touchdowns away from winning the SEC Championship Game.

Again, that is stating the obvious. Who do you know in the country last year that could not get beat by 5 touchdowns by LSU or Bama?

This is an excellent point. As it has been said, look at the players they have this year.

It would be funny if Steve Spurrier of all people and South Carolina beat them.
