Why would they scale back a Sucessful event to please a few lol.
The Battle of Bands and the Greek Show is attended by a bunch of high school kids that's going to spend very little money and most likely will not attend the game. In my opinion, watching two bands seated next to each other playing a bunch of songs is boring to me, which is basically the same thing at the game when they are seated across from each other. Since the game is supposedly the main attraction, the Bayou Classic Committee needs to surround the game with events that would give the people that are more interested in watching the game an incentive to participate in person instead of watching the game on T.V.
Is it really successful? The event only cost $15 for advanced ticket sale and $20 for day of the event ticket sale. You have to sale a lot of tickets to make any type of profit.

You tell me. Being very conservative $15*20,000=300,000. Why would anyone want to cancel a Sucessful event that attracts more than 95% of FCS games. Is it really successful? Some of these folks don't understand lol.And just think about how many SWAC school wish they could get that many in attendance for just 1 football game for their entire season? I still want to know how does scaling back one of the most successful events of the Bayou Classic improve the football game attendance?

If you had an old school event that pulled approximately 30-40,000 paying an average ticket price of $40.00 with most attending the game. That event would easily generate way over a million dollars.
But how does that improve the attendance numbers? You also take away a big fundraising event and recruiting event away from the bands for no reason at all.
None of these events would be taking place if it wasn't for the game, therefore the BC Committee needs to come up with ways to make the main attraction more attractive in person.
That still didn't answer my question.

the problem with that is...you have to pay the different artists......Now if you can find a cheap way....you could mix in Maze or somebody like that during some of the down time at the Battle of the bands and greek show...that might help..but battle of the bands is the pre game hype!
No way you get that many folks for a old school event. That's Essence type numbers and they have a entire lineup of folks. You can have the battle of the bands and have a old school event in the NO Arena. But it's going to be really, really risky. Remember in the past they tried to have boxing that Friday and it failed miserable. You never take the Battle of bands and Greek show away from the students. Remember this is a college event. If you had an old school event that pulled approximately 30-40,000 paying an average ticket price of $40.00 with most attending the game. That event would easily generate way over a million dollars.
Let me quote myself again, by surrounding the game with events for people more interested in the game, which would provide them an incentive to attend in person instead of watching it on T.V. Please read what I typed previously in BOLD.
Sure you do, but you need to come up with ways to pull in people that would be more interested in the game instead of the Battle of Bands and Greek Show.
Battle of the Bands and Greek Show tickets are $15.00 and $20.00.
Game tickets are:
•Plaza & Loge Sidelines $50
•Plaza & Loge End Zone $38
•500 Box $38
•Terrace $20
That's a big difference in price.
And your point is?
More people at the game means a lot more money in revenue than some Battle of the Bands and stomp show, therefore the BC Committee needs to find ways to get more azzes in the game.
essence is what Bayou Classic used to be for the black folks my age..that's the annual New Orleans trip...they would be better served by locking in someone like Maze on BC Weekend to get into that segment
As of now, the LDC is better served for the beginning of the year...
But I still don't see how you think the Old School event would bring more people to the game? What is stopping those people from just coming to the Old School show, then going home, or staying in their hotels? The Battle of the Bands and Greek Show( which is one event) don't affect the game at all.
Those events cater to a bunch of teenagers instead of the each school’s alumnus that would be more interested in the game. What if the game goes away, will there still be a Bayou Classic Battle of the Bands and Greek Show?
