Michael Jordan Laughs at Kobe Bryant

Y'all are painting the 1992 team in too rosy of a picture. Outside of MJ and Pippen, who were known as perimeter defenders. Remember, this in international ball, so the 3-point line is closer.

The 1992 Team had a far superior frontcourt to the 2012 team. But swingmen, guards, the teams are a lot closer than people may think

I dont even think the 2012 team beat the 96 team. 08 team is way better than the current 2012 team.....i would prob say diff if everyone that was suppose to be on the 2012 was actually healthy and on the roster

Kobe's mouth would get the 2012 team swept. If the 2012 would win one game in a best of 7 series it would be because the Dream Team felt sorry for them and planned to let them win a game to give them a little dignity. :emlaugh: I don't think they would feel sorry for them though and go ahead and sweep them. I'm with Scotty Pippen on the margin of victory (25....And really that is being nice).

Agreed.

I think the Dream Team would beat these guys by 30 every night.

The front court would absolutely be the difference. Let's not forget that in the medal round games with better big men on the US team, the best two big men on the court in the semifinals and finals were Luis Scola and Pau Gasol. The chances of 2012 team slowing down Malone, Ewing, Barkley, and Robinson in their primes would be next to nil.

Shows that you guys are talking on pure emotion. When you break down the rosters player by player, the margin of victory for the Dream Team wouldn't be that much.
Bird was ailing, Magic wasn't the Magic of old. The load would primarily fall on Pippen and Jordan. Kobe and Lebron could offset those two with little problem.

The other players are evenly matched, except for the center position which I'd give the edge to the Dream Team.

Who would slow down Anthony, Durant, Love and you can even throw in Chandler for his defensive strengths?

Chandler is a single body. I never said those guys wouldn't score, but the mismatch in the paint is far bigger than any other mismatch the 2012 team would have. You're going to sacrifice some of Anthony and James' scoring because they would expend so much energy having to guard big men with actual post games.

Just by looking at the ESPN Special I would pick the 96 team, 2008 team or this team over the original. You guys really need to look at how basketall has evolved. You still had Power forwards who couldn't handle the rock back in 92 or shoot three pointers. You have kids who play basketball year round now, with supplements, better workout plans, etc..Todays athletes are just better. That old team cannot keep up with 2008 or 2012 teams. Wade was on that team in 2008. Shoot we all saw both teams. This team along with the 2008 team basically does not need a point guard. Everyone can bring it up except Chandler. Deron williams and Jason kidd were both on the 2008 team as well. Now you have Westbrook,Williams and Paul at Guard.. Mullins and Stockton can't deal with all three.
The centers would have to come out and guard Kevin Love and Davis at the three point line. Easy lanes to the basket. It's like saying the teams from the 70's and 80's in football could even step on the field with these suped up kids now.. It's aint happening. Are you guys saying that Paul,Williams,Westbrook(okay),Kobe,Lebron, Anthony,Wade, and Co. are not smart enought play the Dream team... That's laughable....Stop being homers and look at the players pound for pound.

They could easily switch to a zone and that would solve that problem, but they wouldn't have to because they have Chandler.
If they made the Dream Team a jumpshooting team, they'd have a good chance of beating them.
Who would stop Lebron, Kobe, Anthony, Paul, Durant, Love (three point shooting and he's 6'11) just like Durant.
The Dream Team would have serious matchup problems too.

Excellent points. Durant 6'9, Love 6'11, Anthony 6'10, Lebron 6'9 are all forwards and they could easily take their man off the dribble or shoot the three. Malone and Barkley couldn't do that with consistency.

Nobody stops LeBron on that team. Nobody. Besides, who stays in front of Westbrook, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose (if he were playing) or Chris Paul?

Additonally, the teams that the Dream Team played against in the Olympics both feared and revered them. The 2K12 wouldn't have such sentiments.

Bruh stop hurting them with real knowledge. I have had this debate with 2 different sets of cats and do you know some dumbass had the nerve to say Larry Bird could check Kevin Durant.......................BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Lebron would DEE-stroy Magic at point guard

A young Kobe one on one against Jordan Kobe's defense is way better now. Even though Jordan got the best of him, Kobe at 19 was still a problem.

Nobody on that team could consistently guard Lebron the whole game. Pippen would need help and that would leave a deadly 3pt shooter in Durant open. Look at that game last night, 4 of the 5 starters could run the point. David Robinson would be a jumping fool if Westbrook drove inside, feeding it to a wide open Chandler. You guys are just partial to the older players and thats fine and dandy, I respect that. Look at it from both sides of the fence here, no way 92 beats 2012 by 25, thats insane...

Ya'll see what Kevin Durant did last night screwing around with that FIBA three-point line. That's like a FT for him.

Magic Johnson is an inch taller than LeBron, but LeBron is stronger, faster, can handle the rock just as well and outweighs him by 50 or 60 pounds.

However, JROCK said if the Dream Team "decided to," LeBron couldn't score. Aside from Jordan, LeBron would be the most gifted player on the floor in that game. Hell, in the scrimmage games nobody could guard Jordan.

That's true, but they also didn't need to. They could simply catch the ball on the block and have their way.

Uh you do realize that MJ was already in his mid 30s then. We are talking 1992 MJ vs 2012 Kobe if that was possible. LOL. Hell Kobe is getting schooled now against the young players. Jordan was 29 in his prime.

Jordan still was a great player in his mid 30s as well. Jordan got schooled a few times at that point against younger talent. Thats just basketball period, it happens. Jordan in 92 was a force, no argument here. I wasnt posting that video to prove a point though...

Durant? Durant? GTHOOH!!! :emlaugh: That little malnutrition kid is not worthy of carrying at least 11 of the dream teamers bags to the dressing room. If Durant dreamed of excelling against the dream team he better wake his little hungry behind up, repent and formally apologize. After the Dream team finish roughing his little disabled behind up, they wouldn't need to take his lunch money, he would just give it to them. :emlaugh:

Anthony? Love? Would have not even come close to making the Dream Team's roster. :emlaugh:

Lebron James? He would have got the same treatment from Pippen in Jordan that Tony Kukoc got. :emlaugh: The devil is a liar!!! :emlaugh:

So you are going to compare Kukoc, who at the time of the '92 Olympic never played against elite NBA competition to LeBron James, who is not only better than him, but is a three-time league MVP? See, this is what I'm taking about when I say folks be exaggerating.

There is no exaggeration. You just don't understand that these players are not on the same level. It is like Jackson State playing a tight game against Grambling and think they are on LSU level. Yes, James would get the same treatment as Tony Kukoc got. And you know James isn't really that tough mentally. He would start biting his nails on national television before falling completely apart. Before you know it he would look just like he did against Dallas last year (M.I.A.). It wouldn't surprise me if he went to the bench for a rest and got in the fetal position. :emlaugh:
