Paterno ‘Manipulative, Disrespectful, Uncivil And Abusive’

CNN has new e-mails obtained from former FBI Director Louis Freeh’s investigation at Penn State and once again, they could be damaging for Joe Paterno.

The e-mails were sent in 2005 by Dr. Vicky Triponey, then vice president of student affairs in charge of disciplining students, to athletic director Tim Curley and president Graham Spanier after a meeting she had with Paterno in which he tells her that he wants to be the sole disciplinarian of his players.

In an e-mail to Curley, she writes:

Coach Paterno would rather we NOT inform the public when a football player is found responsible for committing a serious violation of the law and/or our student code — despite any moral or legal obligation to do so … I must insist that the efforts to put pressure on (Student Affairs) and try to influence our decisions…simply MUST STOP.

Then, in an e-mail to Spanier, she writes:

I am very troubled by the manipulative, disrespectful, uncivil and abusive behavior of our football coach.
She calls Paterno’s behavior “atrociousâ€￾ and adds:

Please stop showing this stuff. The sell outs gonna get mad. They wanna praise big school sports. No way they are delusional.

Kendrick,
Joe-pa's iron fist over Penn State is well documente

Understood.

But folks acted like there was no way Grandpa Simpson had any knowledge or control over the happenings with the football program. He was a saint in the eyes of his gullible followers.

That's why it was dumb to excuse Joe for "fulfilling his legal requirement" when McCreepy told him Sandusky boinked a boy in the shower.

Niave it is to beleive that JoePa simply made a report to his superiors and went to sleep. Come on man. Now, I did not want to believe that he orchestrated the cover-up. It seemed more feasible that he simply just went with it. But as more evidence is exposed, it is apparent that it is what we thought it was. JoePa gave the dude a pass and orchestrated the cover-up by directing his 'inferiors' (He was PennSt. Not the president) not to report it to child protective services. If the evidence continues to mount, can you characterize JoePa as anything but a MONSTER ??

Should his bronze statue be removed from the front of the stadium? Should his likeness be painted over on the mural? If he's a monster then . . .

I got back into town but heard a report on TV on Monday. I expect the report not to be nice to Paterno.

Its hard for a dead man to defend himself. Its 3 sides to every story. We will never know the truth on did he cover up for him or not.

Wasn't he investigated and it was determined he did nothing illegal?! I'm sure the investigators saw these e-mails so they mean nothing b/c even if he was alive he still wouldn't be charged. Maybe his character has changed in the eyes of some of you on TSPN but I'm sure he wouldn't give a fugg and neither would/does Penn State b/c none of y'all/us would have been apart of that huge ass donation amount that's posted in the other thread. :popcorn:

From what i have read, he told his higher authorities. He biggest downfall was he had to much trust in the administrators to where he believe they would take care of the issue.

Man please...his biggest downfall was he wanted to win. :lol: Paterno didn't give a daymn about any of that, he did the bare minimum required by the law and that's all. Which all of this came out when he was alive.

These e-mails will only be used to help the victims in a civil suit against the Paterno's and that won't be an easy victory b/c his family is pissed.

That is what I was predisposed to believe as well. Old Joe wanted to turn this over and let someone else handle a very difficult issue for him to confront. That's understandable. That's human nature, especially for a 70+ year old man at the time. . BUT. .. According to those emails. . . That aint what happened. The way those emails read, ("after talking it over with Joe, I am uncomfartable with what we agreed on to inform outside authorities") Joe clearly directed or requested at least of HIS SUPERIOR that child welfare not be notified. . . . Shame Shame Shame to be that selfish, that cruel in regards to a child . .. A Monster turning another Monster loose on his watch. . .. Shame Shame Shame. .

Why assume that Jo was the one who suggested not goingt the authorities? The email doesn't say that.

True. The email doesn't say "Joe said don't go to the authorities". What the emails do say is that the adminstrators had an 'AGREEMENT' to confront Sandusky, report him to the Second Mile, and report the abuse to the authorities. The emails then go further to say that "after discussing it with Joe, I am not comfortable going to anyone else other than Sandusky"

Now, as I can admit, there has been no email leaked spelling out "Joe said don't tell authoritites", but how else do you interpret the above. What was the nautre of the conversation when he 'talked it over with Joe' then 'decided that they shouldn't go to authorities'?

Your thoughts??

Our most saddening and sobering finding is the total disregard for the safety and welfare of Sandusky's child victims by the most senior leaders at Penn State," said Louis Freeh, the former director of the FBI who was hired by university trustees to look into what has become one of sports' biggest scandals. "The most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized."
Freeh called the officials' disregard for child victims "callous and shocking."

"In order to avoid the consequences of bad publicity, the most powerful leaders at the university -- Spanier, Schultz, Paterno and Curley -- repeatedly concealed critical facts relating to Sandusky's child abuse," the report said.

Paterno "was an integral part of this active decision to conceal," Freeh said at a news conference.
:smh::smh:

The sad part is top prospects are still lining up to play at PSU. Silver and gold, silver and gold..........

"Before May 1998, several staff members and football coaches regularly observed Sandusky showering with young boys in the Lasch Building (now the East Area Locker Building or "Old Lasch"). None of the individuals interviewed notified their superiors of this behavior."

:smh::smh:

All those idiots who rallied outside of Grandpa Simpson's house after that coward got fired are looking real stupid right now.
