Alcorn declares independence from Capital City Classic

Alcorn State, Miss. (July 3, 2012) – Alcorn President M. Christopher Brown II and interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dwayne White held a call-in with university stakeholders informing them of the decision to exercise Alcorn’s home game status for this year’s football contest. The regularly scheduled SWAC game between Alcorn State University and Jackson State University will be held November 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium on the Lorman campus

I was going to say that. A few years ago, either Collins or Jones was begging to end the CCC no one would listen. The white man said end it and it is done. Lol


I am happy though, I hope the classic dies and that there is never another promoter hired.

That was a totally different administration that was there when Jones and Collins were head coaches. It's not just "the white man" said end it.

Memorial Stadium = 40+K in attendance. (no sponsor, and no middle man to pay)

Spinks Stadium = 25K

All is right in the world!

Attendance won't be as high but hopefully it'll put some fire into the rivalry.
And I'm glad they decided to do it on the year Alcorn is considered home so we wouldn't have wait 2yrs to see the outcome.

Traffic is going to be CRAZY! Especially with that 2 lane bottleneck leading up to the campus.

Back to the times of accidents on the Trace, dodging coons and deer on the back roads, and parking nightmares. On the flip side, this puts more money in our pocket and even Alcorn's with no middle man to come between the funds.

That stretch is 4 lanes now but it will still be packed...
