Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Dude there is not much difference between Valley and Jackson State. :emlaugh: Valley would be no more or less embarrassing than Jackson State. Wake the hell up. These schools not only don't care about Jackson State but don't see much of a difference between Jackson State and Valley. I know this is a tough pill but drink some water and swallow it. :emlaugh:

These cats actually think... eh forget about it. We'll see how they well represent the SWAC when they head to Oktibbeha County and have to deal with those cowbells.

Let them sashay themselves over there thinking they are the elite HBCU from the 90's and gonna end up with a running clock game

They are gonna get dragged just like everybody else would.

This is the bottomline. JSU is 3-4 times bigger than Alcorn and Valley. We have 3-4 times the alumni base. We have the top marching band in the state and we have a fan base 3-4 times larger than Alcorn or Valley. The general community would want to see JSU before they see Alcorn or Valley.

Now, I wouldn't pay two red cent to see JSU play MS State but many others would.

At the end of the day everyone else looks at Jsu as just another small HBCU. Hell around the country a lot of people may know of Alcorn and Valley more because of Steve McNair and Jerry Rice because they are the most recent NFL stars from HBCU(s) in the state of Mississippi.

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Could Mississippi State fans tell the difference?

It's all the same to them.

These JSU folks are trying way too hard. As usual.

umm, yeah they could

umm, yeah they could

No, they couldn't.

To them it's just black folks dancing. And playing "music" badly but loud for some strange reason.

The only way they could tell the difference is if the bands played back-to-back. Even then, I don't know if JSU would be considered "better". Just more of ... whatever it is they call themselves doing.

Trust me, I don't like JSU as much as anyone else, but their band is way better than Valley.

Trust me, we will get drug just like the next guy but their is more interest amongst their fan base for a JSU/MSU game. Not saying is a lot of interest but more. Particularly among black fans.

That's like saying the pancakes at IHOP are much better than the pancakes at Denny's.

Unfortunately, most people don't consider pancakes to be gourmet food. I know some of you LOVE pancakes. I know pancakes are what IHOP is known for. Sure, you can get that blueberry and strawberry crap to put on your pancakes at IHOP. But, at the end of the day, it's just pancakes and not very impressive.

To people who don't think pancakes are SOOOOOO great, there's not a whole lot of difference between the pancakes at IHOP and the pancakes at Denny's.

I'm sorry, there's not.

Now I want some IHOP :( (but I get what you are saying)

or let me use this analogy. That's like trying to convince people who are used to driving Mercedes that your Special Edition Altima with the 3.5L engine (JSU) is better than a regular Altima (MVSU). In their eyes, all they see are Nissans and laugh at you once you leave

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Just yesterday, Ole Miss' new AD (Bjork from Western Ky) announced that he is very interested in playing The in-state HBCU's. Well they won't play Valley because... well because they're valley. So that leaves JSU and Alcorn.
He said it would be nice to keep the money in-state and etc.... Pretty much the same thing MS State said.
If scheduled, that barrier wouldn't be broken until about 2015 or 2016. Something like that because you know other conferences lock their schedules in years in advance.

Ole Miss still hasn't expressed any interest in playing USM though. Their last matchup was in 1984.
They scared to play them. I'd actually like to see that matchup.

JSU vs Ole Miss? I doubt that would be as big as the JSU vs MSU game.
But them again That game set an attendance record in that starkvegas stadium and enhanced their gameday environment. Those clear folk are still talking about that game and the band. Looks like ole miss is trying to reap some of those benefits. They're fans won't be so happy about it though because MS State Did It First lol stuff like that matters to them.

No it's not, unlike our football teams, our band programs are not inferior to these schools. You think those folks at UL-Lafayette laughed at us, no, they pretty much disowned their own band and had them on the internet whining and trying to make excuses for their not being able to measure up to our band.

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Ole Miss doesn't want to play USM because USM will beat that ass. Pure and simple.

But, once again, you JSU folks are trying to take responsibility for something you had absolutely nothing to do with. That "attendance record" you all claim to have set had nothing to do with JSU. MSU games had been over capacity the previous year. They added temporary seating in the end zone that year which expanded capacity. That "attendance record" would have been set regardless of who they were playing the first game of the year. You see how long that "attendance record" lasted. Until the next school came to town. MSU has been sold out for every game for a while and they have a waiting list for tickets. That's why they are expanding the endzone and will move those temporary bleachers to the other endzone until they expand again. JSU didn't have shit to do with that.

And if you think those folks spend their time talking about the JSU game, you're really fooling yourself. Delusional beyond belief.

Y'all are funny though. It's really amusing how you fool yourselves into thinking you're more important than you are. Do they teach that at JSU? Grandiosity, Delusion and Hubris 101?

Pancakes. Altima.

We're not talking about ULL, ULM or schools on that level. We're talking about Mississippi State. They're a big boy school. In their eyes, we are all on the same level. Hell they have to play ULM or ULL as well to come to Starkville for skull druggings as well so they can't brag too much...

As it has been pointed out before, some of these low level FBS schools like ULM or FAU are FCS schools in FBS clothing. Some of their facilities are no better than Southern or Jackson State. Heck some of them would kill to play in front of crowds like those at SHC, MCC, CCC or BC.

Dude, why are you so concerned about JSU? It's like you're going out of your way to try and prove something that's already a proven fact in football, which is Valley ain't on JSU's level.
They're at times competitive like they were last year, but when you lose to that same team 16 straight times and your overall record against that school is like 5-40, what does that say?
That clearly says that you ain't on their level.

The day Valley beats JSU in football, they gone shut Itta Bena down for the rest of the weekend.:lol:

What does it say to a school that would beat both of you 16 straight times? Not much.

Y'all need to get over yourselves. Really.

What school is that? If you're talking about an FBS school with 30 more scholarships, that's not too surprising.

Ain't this some schizzit!! Somebody from Southern telling somebody else to get over themselves?! Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Well, that's different.

The point is y'all need to stop trying to put down Valley. Especially in OOC games like this. Y'all are going to end up in the same situation Valley would have ended up in. An asswhipping and a check. And, hopefully, nobody gets hurt.

The situation is the same. So, stop trying so hard to put down Valley. It makes y'all look foolish.

That's a lie. MSU wasn't selling out Scott Field prior to 2009. When that game with JSU happened, it was the 3rd largest attended game in the history of that stadium. The only games that drew higher in 2009 were their games with #1 Florida, #2 Alabama, and Ole Piss. The JSU game even outdrew their game with #7 LSU that year. And for comparison's sake, when they played Alcorn...the JSU game outdrew that one, too.

Whether or not we all get our asses handed to us at the end of the day, the fact remains that some schools are more attractive to them. Whether it's the band or whatever. And these good white folks here in the 'Sip love themselves some Sonic Boom. And none of that is a knock on Valley or Alcorn.

The sad part is that they don't realize it or just don't care. I look over them trying to down us every chance. If that delusional mindset gets them thru life then more power to them.

But when you think that UM and MSU see a difference in JSU when compared to Valley or Alcorn, then that's really sad. They actually think some of us didn't/haven't lived in Mississippi more than 4-5 years :(

He really is...he's too busy trying to "rationalize" his arguments to refute JSU folks. Hell, I work with these MSU grads (about 30 in my department) on a daily basis.

And don't get me wrong, it's definitely not something to be too proud of.

:|

Y'all are so slow.

Do you really think that because they talk to you about the JSU - MSU game or about the Sonic Boom that they really care about either? Do you think they would really tell you how they feel about either? Do you think they really bring either up when they are talking sports among themselves?

They only talk about that with you because that's what you have in common with them. Not because they care about your school.

Go to any MSU message board and do a search on JSU or the Sonic Boom. See how often they bring it up or talk about either. The answer is between hardly ever and never.

These people are not in love with your school and band. They are just being nice to you and creating conversation. Nothing more.

And they definitely don't think JSU is very much different from Valley. Believe that. :
