Doug Williams Reach Agreement

I see your point. But we did beat 2 out of the 3 Sip schools. Still doesnt matter. 6 wins in 2 seasons. Not good.

Well at lease he now has more wins then he did at his last school.. If my memory is correct he was what 4-84.. After three years he will have 11 wins. I'll give Stump 5 wins this season..

Dont know what his record was at Morgan State. IMO, he'll win more than 5 or 6 games this year.

Most get incentives for winning Classic games. Someone should go find a couple of other coaches contract incentives and see how it's mapped out. Hell in Saban's contract he gets an incentive for beating Miles.:emlaugh:

Sports have transformed lets face it. Nothing like it was in the past. Nothing but politics and business.

Not that tough on the bluff. Yall are speaking past tense, hell Stump is still there. Even Alcorn, kicked their own alum to the damn curve when he didn't produce. At least they had some balls lol.

I think Spears got canned for more than just going 2-8 in his inagural season.

No different than Stump in his 1st season. 2-9. We can assume all we want to why he got canned but the forefront are the wins and loses.:read:

Everyone in the know, saw what Stump inherited. When you take over and 30 plus players were inelgible, what kind of record was he suppose to have.

Exactly.

If we had fired him after year 1, folks would be clowning us for having to pay Pete for one more year and then pay Stump for 2 more years and then hire another coach as well. Not to mention dealing with other stuff going on with the Athletic Dept. Stump as an administrator has done well. He has put in good work promoting the program and making inroads with the community while helping the APR issue. Gotta to give him his due on that.

However we all know he has to win enough to get the powers that be and the behind the scenes political SU folks to want to give him an extension. If he does not, we got a new Chancellor, New AD and Mason wasn't there when he got hired nor were most of these board members. That is a recipe for a new coach for 2013 if he doesn't produce this season.

Bottom line is the program has to produce wins. Stump knows it and so does everyone associated with SU. Nothing new. As for Doug. I am glad he got all that mess behind him. Hopefully that means good things for Gram. I am sure some in N La and across the US will not be happy about him staying. But I wish GSU well.

See what you get when you hire a Southernite to represent you. RWE Jones might not be the only Southernite with a street named after him. LaDOTD might have to build another exit off of I-20 for Cleo Fields Drive to Grambling campus.

Yep. Folks really think Pete left Stump loaded. Totally not the case. Now we were able to win 6 games just on the kids that were there knowing the system. Sheer smoke and mirrors. Not mention he walked in with B Lee and J Stew on their way out the door. Even Pete was going to struggle to win 6 in 2010. Hell we did the last couple of his years.

Now granted, Stump has to share in some blame in losing some of the close games we have had over the last 2 years. His biggest mistake to date was the prediction of going undefeated. He pulled a Lebron James in the not 1 not 2 not 3 not 4 not 5 not 6 not 7 statement. LOL. When you are not a popular hire and make comments like he did in 2010. I think he learned from that though. I wish Stump well. I like all he has done except the wins obviously. But I am not down on him like some Jags are. Just realize it is a business and SU must win to appease our demanding fan base so this is definitely a make or break season for him.

I believe every coach should receive an initial 5 year contract. New coaches just can't come in a strip scholarships anymore so you are kinda forced to work with what you have....I think during the 1st 3 years you allow the coach to do what he does. The 4th year before the season starts you state your problems and provide him a list of things you feel are necessary to be in a positive light for the 5th year. Remind him of these at the beginning of the 5th....if not...then he/she is gone...
