Isiah Thomas the forgotten Susperstar

So basically, the average players from the 80s could not play at all in the 2012 NBA???? I don't know..... Folks like Greg Anthony & Derek Harper are probaly better than the Kyle Lowry and DJ Augustin types in the NBA now.....

Those average guards, of course not.

Harper would survive in 2012 Kendrick. Neither would Anthony nor Hornacheck. Maybe I went to far with the SWAC comment but them cats just wouldn't cut it and Mchale wouldn't either. Now, I believe Malone, Kemp, Oakley and crew would shine.

Dude....Kevin McHale had MAD post skills. What are you talking about? Greg Anthony and Jeff Hornaceck could play. Come on man. You know I hate them pre 1980s players...but you are going too far. Please tell me you are joking. Even Steve Kerr was a shooting specialist. He could play today. Hell if LeBron had him standing on the perimeter he wouldnt be such a punk.

Give it up Pop. I think you went to college around 2003-2006. That makes you less than 30. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Its the same thing I tell YOUNGSTERS who try to argue with me that Jordan was the greatest. You never REALLY saw Jordan play. You are only repeating what you have been told. I cant believe that basketball crap you are spewing right now. I feel like Im being punked. Im looking for Aston Kutcher to come tap me on the shoulder.

Come on man

Yes. It's quite disturbing right now. lol

Half of the Dream Team would foul out if they played against the 08 of 2012 team, sorry yall. Just because they are old doesnt mean they are better. True they paved the way, some of them could flat out ball and with that respect is given but I remember the Craig Ehlos and Bill Wenningtons of the yesteryears. I would school Steve Kerr and dunk on guys like Kevin Mchale. I would posterize guys like Dan Majerle and Kurt Rambis, what do you think Carmello or Lebron would do to those guys if they played back then? It would be unfair, the only reason why you guys favor the older players is because you grew up watching them and are bias. I grew up watching them too, but im not bias and can give credit where its due. Barkley would foul out every time he went up against Tim Duncan or KG. Dwight Howard would crush guys like Olden Polynice and Brad Daughtery...

No they wouldn't. Dwight Howard would get schooled every night. Stop it Frat. A young Moses Malone would have killed Howard and any Center that is playing right now. Stop thinking because those guys wore shorter pants that they were slow and prodding. These cats aint the first fast guys in the league. Do you really think these PGs are any faster than Zeke in his prime? Or Tim Hardaway? Do you really think any of these guys could guard Dominique, Worthy, Pippen, Bird, Magic at 6'9 in their prime? These aint the first or best athletes ever to play basketball. Like I have said a thousand times. The only difference is these tall guys shooting 3 pointers. But again Larry Bird was 6'9 doing the same isht and was a better passer than the majority of these tall SF.

Damn Hell must have frozen over again, because I actually agree with this.

Hornaceck couldn't play man. I actually stopped watching Basketball after Stern suspended all those players after the Detroit fight. I felt it was the point when the NBA went soft. I watched Anthony, Hornaceck, the Price Brothers, etc growing up... I was not a Jordan fan either. He got too many touch foul calls for my liking.

However, man I was watching some Mark Price highlights on youtube, dude wouldn't cut it today. Greg Anthony was only good because of that era.

Worthy does not deserve to be mentioned with the rest of those guys.

Somebody mentioned Tim Hardaway. Hardaway would eat alot of these current PG's alive.

No sir, this cat would not be a starter in 2012.

Pops, what are smoking? Mchale was one of the elite post players of his generation. Jeff Hornacek might not have been the most athletic guard around, but the guy was a solid offensive player for the Suns and Jazz.

Greg Anthony and Derek Harper were solid on-ball defenders. As far as them not being able to crack a SWAC starting lineup, you do realize Greg Anthony was the starting PG on those great UNLV teams in the early 90s, right?

LOL. Kendrick for the first time we agree. These new school cats act like basketball players just started jumping out the gym and being able to shoot and run fast. I guess David Thompson would suck in the NBA with that vertical of his. I am sure George Gervin at 27 years old would not be able to score against these so called great players. Surely Dennis Johnson at 26 years old would get housed by these guards. He must have been slow during his days with Seattle. Surely Shawn Kemp aint better than the same type of player Blake Griffin is? Surely Blake is the first time we have seen a player like that.

Kemp would kill Blake Griffin. Blake Griffin is soft as tissue. People like him and those soft azz euros like Gasol have ruined the PF position.

I can't believe these dudes said McHale was garbage. I HATED that dude because he was so good. Derek Harper's wide nostril arse too.

Are you kidding me? You don't think a YOUNG Mark Price not his brother Brent in that pic when he was washed up, could not start for the Bobcats? The Jazz? You don't think the Lakers would not rather have an in their prime Mark Price over Sessions? Get real. I keep telling you young cats you have no idea. This aint football were players got bigger and faster at positions. THe opposite has happened in the NBA. You can't even find too many 7 footers who can walk and chew gum now. There no Pat Ewings in the league. No Olajuwon's, No David Robinson's, No Kareem's, Hell no Robert Parrish's. LOL. The only position that has evolved is the Power Forward spot. A bunch of tall lanky shooters versus the muscle bound Karl Malone type PFs.

This lil Ethopian right here, wouldn't be an all-star.

I beg to differ. The Alien had WORK. He could get a bucket or a foul against ANY PG PLAYING NOW. Now, he wasn't the best defender in the world, but neither are any of the PGs right now....

Why not? Go look at the all star team this past couple of years and see who made it. LOL. Sam Cassell had skills. He could shoot, post up, rebound, pass when he wanted too. LOL. He wasn't a scrub. Dude got 2 rings as a vital part of those Rockets team. Plus he had HEART. He wasn't scared to take the big shot in crunch time.

You do know he JUST retired like 3 years ago huh? You don't remember his old, slow arse schooling the Lakers in a game in the 2008 Finals?

Sam Cassell STILL goes to the Fonde rec center in Houston during the summer and KILLS younger cats.

JR,
I agree with you about Centers and PF's. I believe the big men of the NBA today are just soft. People argued me up and down last year when I said Dirk was soft. Dirk would not have survived the 90's.

However, after you got past the superstars at the guard position in those days, you had a lot of filler players who really weren't that great.
