MEAC vs. SWAC

Hell............ I wish we had the resources to leave this god-awful conference too. You ain't hurting nobody saying that.

As for SU, ya'll may as well be Naia because you ain't never been, never tried, and was always too scared to go. SU like bowling so much, MOVE UP AND PROVE how big of a draw you would be in a FBS bowl game. That is IF you can win 7 measley games. Win 7 and ya'll can take your 500,000 fans to the New Orleans Bowl against Tulane on December 21st.

Stop it Frat. SU aint never been scared to go. You need to quit that one right now. The Great Eddie Robinson himself who helped create the BC didn't want to forgo the BC timeline for the playoffs. Simple as that. SU was not even a contender for the playoffs until Pete came. And you can't say Pete was scared because he came from a school that played in playoff competition. It was purely MONEY driven. Nothing more and nothing less. SU and Gram were making so much damn money from the BC in the 90s it was crazy. But to sit here and say SU didn't contribute to anything because we were scared is not right bruh. Marino Casem was our AD in the mid to late 80s all the way through the 90s. Do you really think the Godfather was sced to play in the playoffs? Seriously? The BC is the reason why the SWAC office got greedy and started the SCG. They saw dollar signs.

Now if you want to say today's coaches are scared so be it. But you can't accuse SU of that. And with GSU having the most legendary coach in the SWAC still on the sidelines during the 80s and him being the most influential man in our conference and he said no to the playoffs, what did you think was going to happen? SU say nah Coach Rob we want to change the date. And the time that Gram went was the one year we moved the Classic back a week because of a Superdome conflict I believe. I think that was my Jr year. I know you and my fellow SU posters get into it. But don't make it personal towards the school. Because most definitely SU was WAYYYYYYYYYYY more arrogant then than now. So no way were we scared. Hell we had great schedules back then. We played schools like Del State when they had John Taylor. We played Nicholls every year and we played FAMU and TN State yearly. We didn't run from competition. That's all this 2000s and such scheduling when yours and my president agreed to the SCG and the all the different conference mandates and such. Hell I am sure some FCS schools were glad not to have to see SU and Pete in the early to mid ninety's and I do know Pete at that time wished he could take SU to playoffs. That was the old Pete. LOL.

Explain to me how can SU be chicken in the 80s when our teams were not even good enough to win the SWAC? Seriously. We would have needed to start winning the conference first you think? I guess big bad SU was going to tell our BC partner we aint playing the BC on Thanksgiving. I am sure that would have work. And if JSU was in the BC back then, your arses wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs either. Your former AD Reed wouldn't have moved that game either. Yall need to thank SU for beating Gram a few of those times to even make yall SWAC Champs in the early 80s. Yall owe two of your titles to SU for beating Gram who would have won the SWAC outright had they not stumbled in the BC.

Barny Fife: I think Jsu post season and MEAC/SWAC challenge record is criminal and I intend to get to the bottom of it Andy!!!

SU Basketball win in the NCAAs over G. Tech came the same day as JSU and Lindsey Hunter gunned down UCONN in the NIT.

Side note to that year is this is when SWAC leaders showed just how stupid things were going to get and how stubborn they could be. JSU and SU were both good that year. If they had not been so stubborn and moved the SWAC tourney up one freaking day, the SWAC would have had 2 teams in the NCAA's that year. Instead, they played the finals on a SUNDAY at 6pm when the NCAA selections were going on and the NCAA only held one slot. That was the year Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars were making a big deal out of Lindsey Hunters scoring and they wanted to see what he could do against the big boys.

As for Track, remember JSU had the NCAA 100 meter champion a few years ago. Baseball, can't tell ya without a google.
SU has won way more than 1 NCAA championship in track. It was a time when SU's track team owned world records.

Like I said.
If the SWAC had any sense back then and came together as a CONFERENCE with the same goal CONFERENCE wide, no telling how far ahead of the game we would be. As for proof of this "grass is greener, and YT this and YT that" mentality of the SWAC, you don't have to look and read no further than your fellow SU alum JROCK posts in this thread for that footshuffling, conference killing mentality that infest the SWAC.

But who cares anymore. I just post here just to be posting. The SWAC is trapped in the past and will stay in the past. I told ya'll when this 9 game mandate came back that OOC games are meaningless to me. The only games that matter are the lucky SWAC 7. WE AIN'T PLAYING FOR SHAT nationally so why should some OOC game or a game that ain't in our LUCKY 7 mean anything to me. :noidea:

Hell..........I want the Alcorn game moved back to Thanksgiving day. Whats the point of playing it early. Everybody else is out for self so JSU should have the same mentality. Again...........The SWAC ain't playing for shat.

And BTW:
How do we owe a team in the 1980's that we constantly beat the snot and pooh-pooh out of yearly. As for GRAM, from 1980-1990 JSU was 6-5 against them. Going by what you say, GRAM need us to beat YA'LL for a TIE in the 1980's.

Nah Frat. In the early 80s, GSU and Eddie still owned JSU. Yall didn't start beating them until kinfolk started running the rock for yall. SU beat Gram a couple of times to give JSU a piece of the title because Gram had beaten yall already. The loss to SU brought them into a tie with JSU. Otherwise they would have won outright or tied yall. Otis Washington got contract extensions based on those wins. My old man was like damn, how can SU beat Gram but we can't. LOL. In 81 for sure that happened. Gram went in the BC 4-0-1 in the conference. JSU had finished 5-1 with the loss being to Gram. Gram had tied somebody that year in the SWAC. But all they needed was to beat a 2-8 SU team in 81 to win the SWAC outright. They got beat 50-20 in the BC. Everyone in Jackson was happy because JSU won the conference with a 5-1 record vs a 4-1-1 record at Gram. Yall had my older kinfolk from Copiah County playing WR for JSU then.

Man, you and JSU be the example then. Show the rest of us backwards people the way. Drop Tennessee State and schedule up. It has already been disproven that FCS won't play SWAC schools in the regular season so go be the beacon for the SWAC. Maybe after we see the greatness of JSU, we will all follow.

OR

Bring this to someone who can actually do something about it!

My issue with this conversation has never been whether we should do it or not. If the playoffs make sense competitively, which they don't today, and financially, which they don't today, I'm right there with you. But if you're not going to take your argument to someone who can do something about it, all your doing is the same thing you're accusing the rest of us of doing .... talking a sh*tload of hot air!

What happen to "Makin' It Happen"?

WHY? :noidea:
We ain't playing for shat outside of the SWAC Championship. All we need is our lucky 7. We beat TSU .........GOOD. We lose to TSU...........No skin off our SCG backs. Why do we need to schedule up? The FCS playoffs ain't gonna give nobody in the SWAC a call in 2012. That ship has sailed.

People have talked until black faces have turned blue. The COMMISH has already said NO to the playoffs on TV. What more is there to say except NO MAS. Ya'll want to stay in the past, lets do it right. Lets go back to the party classic heydays. At least we know some good BBQ and a "Battle of the Bands" will be waiting each weekend.

Lies...........Jsu has not been good enough in the last 15 years to get an at large bid to the playoffs with the exception of the one year they won the SCG and even that year is questionable. :emlaugh:

Shiat Jsu can't even compete in the SWAC these days...... :emlaugh:

So instead of being apart of the solution to something YOU believe is a problem, .... wow. They don't raise them like they used to apparently.

But we manage to continue to put a foot in SU's azz year after year. :lmao:

SU has never had a long history of being good enough to go and never put themselves in position to go the FEW years they were. So SU don't even count in a game of FCS PLAYOFF NUT CHECKING.

And when P. View WAS GOOD ENOUGH to go a few years ago, what happened? I told people ON THIS BOARD before the decision even came out and writers was making P. Views case that FCS was not even going to consider P. View.

The defense rest...................

Dude.
JSU has been part of the solution since 1980 so what are you talking about. Hell......... JSU and Alcorn made the hard decision back then to take the lead in this and that move still stands today as a result of the playoffs being established.

That is when we moved our JSU/Alcorn game from Thanksgiving day to the Saturday BEFORE Thanksgiving. The day before the Playoff bids go out the 3rd Sunday of November. Now why should we continue to hold that banner high when the rest of the SWAC, Schools like yours never even tried to make yourself available for consideration. Why should we continue to carry that banner when more and more schools in this conference move games to Thanksgiving weekend. :noidea:

You on here talking about what JSU should do, how about telling us what SU should do for a change. What hard decisions and concessions have SU made in 23 years since the playoffs started to make SU available for playoff consideration?

I'll answer that............ NOT ONE. :smh:

If you're so big and bad take Jsu and leave........Jsu hasn't done anything because you don't have any juice and your leaders could give a damn what you think about the playoffs or the Bayou Classic. :emlaugh: If you haven't figured it out S.U. don't care about the playoffs and neither does Bama State and Grambling. So take your whining to your president so he can embarrass you and tell you get out of his face. :emlaugh:

Again.............. You ain't insulting nobody by saying leave this backwards azz conference.

The flip side to that is, since SU love bowling so much, MOVE UP AND PLAY TULANE IN THE NEW ORLEANS BOWL EVERY YEAR. Maybe you can play TROY in the MOBILE "WHO GAS" BOWL.

That is if you can be good enough to squeeze out 7 wins a year.

Same message for different poster awaits in post #124.

And again, it is for a school that has never even had the guts to even try. Rather play a D2 school as you "big game" then try your game against teams on your level. Sad part to this is, D2 SKEEGE been tearing a hole in your azzes in that "big game."
