Because of the (lower) costs involved, I think HBCUs could be more competitive in basketball on a national level over football if there was a focus to do.

That might be true for that one game. However, you need at least 3-4 good starters and a deep bullpen to win the in the regionals and super regionals. I've always said that SWAC schools can hit with anyone in the country. It's the depth in the pitching department that hurts SWAC schools the most.

SU has quality pitching depth now, but our hitting or defense isnt what it use to be at this point of the season.
