Alcorn 2012 Football Schedule


if it's a home and home I like it alot. you may not win either but it's time to stop hiding in the closet like some midget in a rkelly video and see what we've really got. I want to see georgia southern come play in the new hornet stadium. if that means bama state has got to go there first so be it, but when those boys come to monkey town it's time to hit'em between the eyes.
 
What makes this schedule good is that, they are games that People want to see. No one wants to see VUL and Concordia, lets be real. We want to See State and TCU because some where in our Mind, its a monster telling us we can beat TCU and State..

What is the issue with going to a PWC first? JSU went to NWState first a few years back? Don't you all sign contracts? If they don't return the game, they owe you a check.

It's a decent schedule but if I were an AD, I would look at scheduling like this.... I can't help my conference slate but I would want my OOC slate to be games that I have a 50/50 chance of winning. Alcorn has a 100% chance of losing both games. I would ask myself, where I want this team to be in 5 years. If my team went 2-9 last year, my goal would be to have some winning seasons but I would not have scheduled pushovers to get those winning seasons. I would have tried to see if I could schedule maybe a home-home with Howard and maybe home game this year with Albany State and a home game in 2013 with Fort Valley State. IF we get 6 and 7+ win seasons, I would then up the game. I would try to schedule Southeastern LA and NCA&T with Home-Homes. I we are below 0.500 after 4 years (if we not above 0.500 by now, it's time for new coach). If am above 0.500. I don't know where I would go but depending on if the fan base has picked up, I will probably go for an additional home game (vs Morehouse/Delta State) and then pick a school my fans can travel to.. like Samford. Now, if I had 4 OOC games to work with, I could add more variety but the bottomline... Arkansas State and James Madison are not what Alcorn should be focusing on right now. They need winning seasons. Not more losses. If I thought Alcorn could get 7 or 8 conference wins, I would agree that James Madison and Arkansas make sense but in their present state, they need to schedule with the 50/50 mentality.
 
AU game is a good game for money reasons. No way around it. Our athletic department needs the money and i am glad we are getting it.

This message board is bigger than alcorn. i have given my opinion on numerous of different threads that didnt have anything to do with alcorn. I gave my opinion on alcorn now because the THIS THREAD is about alcorn. I am sure you have gave YOUR OPINION in a JSU thread before. Just wanted to add that I learned over the weekend during the SWAC tournament that Alcorn's football game against James Madison is a one year deal. It is not a home and home arrangement. The payout amount could not be confirmed, but is believe to be in the area of $200K - $250K.

I disagree. Both wanted needed an 11th game. I don't think James Madison would have had a problem playing Alcorn in Lorman, but it could be that JMU simply had the cash to play the game in Harrisburg.
 
I for one, like the challenge and schedule the AD put together..
I know it seems foggy now, But I feel we will be ok once everything settles down and we get back to football.
We had a very young team last season that showed potential..I think once we get our Idenification and sew up a few positions we will be on our way
