Oh well, Saints I guess your run was good while it lasted

Just because the Saints did it doesn't mean that everyone else is doing it. They have some teams with the mindset of playing CLEAN football and not making stupid cheap shots and late hits out of bounds.

:lmao: I bet you still believe in Santa

Vikings fans are still pissed off about the non calls in that game. Livid is the word. Now if this investigation finds any truth to it. Then they will go hang themselves.

I am one of those vikings fans that pissed off about it. To make matters worst, the ref aint call any of those cheap shots. it was at least 4 roughing the passer that didnt get called, including 2 on INT.

It just is always so amazing that the team that loses in a game like that only sees what's done to them but not what they do.

Actually there were two unnecessary roughness infractions called against the Saints in the NFC title game. In fact, the league fined Bobby McCray $20,000 for two incidents involving unnecessary roughness during the game.

Williams to meet with NFL

NFL investigators will meet Monday with the former New Orleans Saints assistant coach who admitted to and apologized for his role in a "pay for performance" program that the NFL says rewarded players with thousand-dollar payoffs for knocking targeted opponents out of games.

The meeting with Gregg Williams will be in the New York area, according to two people familiar with the NFL's investigation of the bounties. They spoke on condition of anonymity Sunday because details of the continuing investigation are not being disclosed.

The Saints maintained a bounty pool of up to $50,000 the last three seasons, the NFL said. Payoffs were made for inflicting game-ending injuries on targeted players, including quarterbacks Brett Favre and Kurt Warner. ''Knockouts'' were worth $1,500 and ''cart-offs'' $1,000, with payments doubled or tripled for the playoffs.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Sunday in an email to The Associated Press that the investigation was far from over and that the league will continue ''addressing the issues raised as part of our responsibility to protect player safety and the integrity of the game.''

That likely means the investigation will zero in on teams that employed Williams in the past.

Before joining the Saints, Williams was the defensive coordinator in Tennessee, Washington and Jacksonville, and the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. In January, he was hired by new St. Louis Rams coach, Jeff Fisher, to lead the defense.

Severe, sweeping penalties under consideration in Saints bounty case

The NFL is considering severe, sweeping disciplinary measures in the New Orleans Saints’ bounty case that could include lengthy suspensions of Coach Sean Payton, General Manager Mickey Loomis, former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and player leaders of the scheme, a person familiar with the deliberations said Sunday.

The person, speaking on the condition of anonymity because NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has not made final decisions on penalties, said some of the sanctions could be “unprecedented.” Payton and Loomis face discipline for failing to halt the practice of paying players for big hits on opponents. The bounty system was administered by Williams and involved 22 to 27 players, according to an NFL investigation revealed Friday.

The suspensions under consideration are a half-season or longer in some cases, the person said. Several other people in the sport said they expect Williams, now the defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams, to be punished severely.

The person familiar with penalty deliberations in the Saints case referred pointedly to the full season suspensions that former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle imposed in 1963 on Green Bay Packers running back Paul Hornung and Detroit Lions defensive tackle Alex Karras for gambling. It was not clear which of the people involved in the Saints case might face a suspension that long.
The league announced Friday that the discipline in the Saints case could include fines, suspensions or the forfeiture of draft choices. According to the NFL’s investigation, the Saints’ bounty system was primarily player-funded and paid for hits that forced opponents off the field or knocked them out of a game, along with fumble recoveries and interceptions. Such payments violate league rules, according to the NFL.
The league’s investigation cited Loomis and Payton for failing to take action to halt the bounty program. It found that the program was “administered” by Williams.

NFL: Saints defense had 'bounty' fund

Between 22 and 27 defensive players on the New Orleans Saints, as well as at least one assistant coach, maintained a "bounty" program funded primarily by players in violation of NFL rules during the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons, the NFL announced Friday.

The investigation by the league's security department determined that an improper "pay for performance" program included "bounty" payments to players for inflicting injuries on opposing players that would result in them being removed from a game.

The findings, corroborated by multiple independent sources, have been presented to commissioner Roger Goodell, who will determine the appropriate discipline.

Discipline for the Saints could include fines, suspensions and forfeiture of draft choices.

I don't want to hear no lies from nobody.
BUT didn't the year that the SAINTs won the Superbowl, everybody was saying they were taking cheap, late hits of opposing teams players. Especially the opposing QB. Didn't people say that? :lecture:

Yep. That explains why they took Brett Farve's knee out during that NFC Championship game now.

That explains why they took out a lot of players that year. And all them SAINT's fans would argue you down if you said those were late, cheap hits.

LOL. Yep. I remember the arguments on here. Also my co-workers in Minnesota were saying the same stuff even before the game and then after the NFC title game. Them mofos were livid. Mostly at the refs. Those guys are the real culprits in that particular game. Had that been Tom Brady getting hit like that, they would have ejected mofos. LOL.
