Alcorn 2012 Football Schedule

JSU is 5-2 vs Alcorn in the last 7 years.

JSU is 6-1 vs SU in the last 7 years.

There is not much difference in Alcorn and SU from where I stand but JSU is leaps and bounds ahead of you both!

...goes to pull up Alcorn's point differential in beating Valley compared to JSU's.

Typical hatred but that is expected...you don't know what funds we have.....Let this had been you're schedule it would be the best one in the SWAC let you tell it....

Trust me bro, Yall funds arent good. It make sense Alcorn to schedule games that would bring in some income. Try to schedule play in a few classics. Yall will lose on the field and will financial wise if James Madison aint funding.

At least Jstate plays in 2 classic. Southern a money maker, and also Miss.State.

I think our schedule at AAMU is nice also. We get 500K from AU and play TU for the annual state match up. Win for us that can't be beat. Especially if the TU game is moved to Bham. We need to stop telling a lie, we that pay check we getting.

I agree that the TU game is a good one especially on Labor Day weekend. BUT aint' nothing good about being Auburn's trick for a day. A better game for you all would have been Troy, UNA, and Jacksonville.

SWAC mentality.
Translation: They should have scheduled a weak HBCU like Concordia just for a easy win to pad their schedule.

This is the exact mentality I was talking about on the other thread about our fans downing games against FCS teams like this.

I wouldnt say schedule concordia, but what about schedule FAMU, NC A&T, Morgan State, Tenn State,Howard, Hampton. Try to play in classic game to make some funds. SWAC schools playing these top FCS schools. We gon get beat to sleep. Waste of time and money if you not getting paid by the other school to make the trip.

There is nothing wrong with what Alcorn did. And as I and others have said for years, if you really want to try and compete with these schools, PLAY THEM IN THE REGULAR SEASON. My only "negative thought" is who were are scheduling in these cases. JMU is a powerhouse, but you can learn just as much and have a more winnable game against the bottom half of those conferences. I believe in building your way up to games like this one and I fear that a fragile Alcorn team going up there is going to get their issue and that has been their undoing for a number of years .... Start off hot and then get punched somewhere and they just fall off. I hope I'm wrong.

We gonna make $$$ this year. We play Valley for Homecoming so that's probably going to be about 40K fans. We drew 37K fans for homecoming last year vs UAPB. PV is an early season home game and should do well. The only home game I am concerned about is the AAMU. If it's too early or too cold, the turnout won't be good but since it's fan appreciation day, they will probably be selling $5 and $10 tickets. :D

Let's not kid ourselves, the Auburn game is there for one reason. And I won't act like I don't understand it. I do.

btw, I was told that troy doesn't like to pay. :scared:

as for Jacksonville, We played a few years ago (Barlow's first game as coach) . I think the ASU/Jacksonville series could have grown into a good one. Not sure where they are with their proposed move to FBS.

There just isn't enough wiggle room to include those teams when you only have 2 open dates to work with.

TP, I understand the point, but to that I say this...while it is true Alcorn has a ways to go with football, I say you have to start somewhere. .

Starting somewhere for them would have been bringing in Arkansas Montecello and Albany State to Lorman. Those are two good D2 teams. Alcorn won't beat James Madision or Arkansas State. They probably won't be Ark-Mont and Albany State either but at least they will be playing two challenging teams where the outcome could go either way. That is what football is all about.

It makes sense. Valley for Homecoming, Southern,Tenn State,Alcorn, and also Miss State. JSU going to make money.

I fully understand what the Auburn game is for but that AUTOMATICALLY disqualifies AAMU from having a good schedule just like playing MS State disqualifies JSU. A "good" schedule in my opinion is when you go up and down the schedule and see games that will be a challenge BUT you can win if you play hard and gameplan.

I am sure that Troy does not have the money to pay but money aside, they would provide a better contest than Auburn.

I agree with this. at least alcorn coaches will know where there strength and weakness in each position are at. Playing a top FCS school, you will think you have a wekaness at every position.Better insight

I am sure the AD for Alcorn can reach out to these teams in the future. Try to put alcorn in the Circle City classic, Atlanta Classic, that classic in Sheverport. I am sure Alcorn have alumni will attend those classic and support the team. btw Alcorn didnt maximize the stamp Steve McNair put on the school.

Dude again, you don't know what ASU has brah....again your worried about the wrong time.....Your depending on classics......Since yall had such a "GREAT" team would one would have thought would have scheduled stiffer competition instead of thethe likes of Stillman, Concordia, etc.....If your that great raise your stakes...don't lower them.....Other than MSU, what school have yall tried to compete with instead of playing it safe?? Alcorn showed a great game against MSU until the third...let's see what yall do since yall that good...

And wins against Comegy..speak the truth and not lies brah....

If These schools esp James Madison aint paying alcorn to come there. They gon lose the game and they will lost financial wise. Airfare isnt cheap. i assume Alcorn will only take 25 players. 11 on defense, 11 on offense and 3 subs. Expensive trip for a struggling Athletic department.

They got to be taking more than 25 players. LOL. If it is just a one and done. I am sure Alcorn is getting compensate.

Come on dude everybody knows Alcorn is broke. Thats not a secret. I bet the people up at James Madison is saying "Who is Alcorn? Why are we playing this 2nd tier school? Where is the comp?" The same thing us swac people say about stillman and etc.
Showed a great game. YAWNS!!!!!!!!! things a loser say. Same thing valley said last year. we ALMOST beat JSU. Yall gotta depend on some, because when the last time Alcorn had 10,000 at Jack Spinks. Yall attendance is low. Yall never went to bham, you not going no time soon. When the last time Alcorn won a swac title? McNair is not walking through those doors no time soon. Last time i check 9-2 is a great record to me. How many games yall won last season?
