Alcorn 2012 Football Schedule

Wishful thinking but Alcorn gon get their butts handed to them. *Shrugs* They just wasting the small funds they do have to go to VA.

Typical hatred but that is expected...you don't know what funds we have.....Let this had been you're schedule it would be the best one in the SWAC let you tell it....

I think our schedule at AAMU is nice also. We get 500K from AU and play TU for the annual state match up. Win for us that can't be beat. Especially if the TU game is moved to Bham. We need to stop telling a lie, we that pay check we getting.

MH, if it makes you feel any better, I thought you all did well in playing E. Michigan. I know in the case for ASU you are automatically locked in with Tuskegee. With that said, if you have to ask what makes this a great schedue....well???
make me feel any better?

What does Bama State's schedule have to do with this? NOTHING

1. The schedule is not isolanists
2. The games are winnable IF Alcorn comes out to play and the coaches make good decisions
3. Respectable FCS Squad that a wina against them will Alcorn a chance to make some noise outside the SWAC
4. No Concordia, NAIA schools, or club teams that we should not be playing anyway
5. A Sunbelt school that the Alcorn team two years ago could have at least hung with (although Arky State had a good season last year) - the SWAC has been more competetive with the lower FBS divisions than other (PV - New Mexico 2009? and the spread for Southern's game with them this year in the early preason picks has been a toss up in most polls)

#4 says it all. And the ones who are knocking this schedule are probably from schools who are scheduled to play against Concordia, a NAIA, D2 or club team.

Again...good schedule Alcorn!

According to this and considering you're from Gram and Lynchburg is on your schedule, you wanna knock the hell outta Alcorn's schedule, don't you?. :scared:

sheesh!

My comments/questions have NOTHING to do with Bama State's schedule.

What you upset for mane? I have no need to hate on Alcorn for this schedule. I am commending them for it. Shit, I wish we had one like it. You are the one who asked "what's so great about this schedule" and people simply responded to YOUR question. Don't get pissed because you don't like the responses. Like I said before, anyone who asked or has a problem with this schedule, likely is from a school who has D2, NAIA or club team already on the schedule. It is what it is.

James Madison huh.
Guess Alcorn has figured out how to schedule a top FCS team. AND I KNOW. It is on their turf.

Good job Injuns.

Didn't JR tell folks on this board you can schedule FCS powers if you want to. You don't have to wait until for the playoff system to do that. This is good scheduling. As a matter of fact, this is what helps you get better before attempting the take our arses to the FCS playoffs. Even if the SWAC mandated the playoffs for every school, YOU STILL NEED TO PLAY THESE TEAMS in the regular season. Only way you will learn how to beat them. Can't just show up for the playoffs and think you gone win if all you have played were HBCUs or even some weak FCS local squads.

I hope SU schedules one of these type teams as well. And we can quit thinking these schools owe us to come to our stadiums first. Sometimes you have to say fugg it and go play them mofos on their turf. Hell if you beat them at their place. You would really get the FCS world a talking about the SWAC again. Just my 2 cents worth. Good schedule Alcorn and they did this with all kinds of turmoil going on.

Said it too but I still want that end of season playoff game against them.
Kick me for saying it but I loved when JSU would play these teams in a one and done game.

SWAC mentality.
Translation: They should have scheduled a weak HBCU like Concordia just for a easy win to pad their schedule.

This is the exact mentality I was talking about on the other thread about our fans downing games against FCS teams like this.

Me either. I didn't knock Alcorn. I didn't necessarily say it was a bad schedule. I simply ask why some folks consider it a great schedule. TSUGirl answered why she thought it was great. My response was I understand her answers. Just because I have some thoughts that may differ or raise some questions don't mean I'm mad. What sense would it make for me to be mad at Alcorn's schdeule? :retard:

sheesh SOGGY, just like you posted yesterday how it was beneath you to post to "guttersnipes", you damn well know my MO is to ask the questions to get the answers. :D

Don't get pissed because you don't like the responses.
SOGGY, I think your vendetta against Doug is getting the best of you man. :scared:

No you haven't, you have ALWAYS said those schools won't play us.. Don't know where you got that from but you consistently say it.

MH and SOG,

I can see this as a good schedule and as a bad schedule. I like the teams on the schedule (a non-BCS 1-A from the Sunbelt: arguably the equivalent of a good 1-AA team) and a top 1-AA program. However, this may not be a good schedule for Alcorn. Alcorn has a long way to go. I think they have had losing seaons dating back to 2007. They are not carrying the banner of the SWAC. This schedule would be good for teams like JSU and Grambling who have shown some consistency over time. This is why I would love a 7 game format. Living on the EAST coast, I can see how important it is to get our schools some face time. JSU vs James Madison would be great. We have alumni chapters in Philly (4 hrs away), DC-Maryland (2 hrs away) and in Richmond VA (2 hrs away).

This is not a good schedule for Alcorn because I think they need a "win-friendly" schedule. They need a winning season. I don't think they should schedule Texas College or Concordia but I think they should have looked at schools like Miles, Fort Valley, Delaware State, Morgan State, Delta State, Valdosta, Winston Salem, NC Central and Albany State. Looking at the last two years, these schools would be a good challenge to Alcorn.

AlaState, UAPB and PV have shown that scheduling some of the worst 1-A teams in the nation can be good. I don't think Arkansas State is bad by any means.

The REAL question here is: Is this game a home-home. We have seen in modern times where we accept payouts from 1-AA teams. Is James Madision coming to Alcorn next year?

TSUGirl,
I understand what you're saying. But....
Our bball schedules aren't either. And we all see how that works out. Alcorn (coming off a 2 win season) scheduling road games at Arkansas State (an FBS school, coming off 10 win season) and James Madison (made it to 2nd round of FCS playoffs) is damn near the equivalent of a non-conference SWAC bball schedule. At least, we getting paid to absorb those bball beatdowns. Is that the case here? I hope so.

:D

I'm not knocking Alcorn. I'm just questioning why the addition of road games at James Madison and Ark State would qualify as a great schedule. (esp. not knowing any number$)

If These schools esp James Madison aint paying alcorn to come there. They gon lose the game and they will lost financial wise. Airfare isnt cheap. i assume Alcorn will only take 25 players. 11 on defense, 11 on offense and 3 subs. Expensive trip for a struggling Athletic department.

Dude, you know my MOFO. You ain't no guttersnipe...we wouldn't be having this conversation if that were the case.

SOGGY, I think your vendetta against Doug is getting the best of you man. :scared:

Naw, I think you and others simply want it to. Vendetta are personal, and my issues with Doug are far from it. But again, that is another subject.

Good job Injuns!

Hmmm.........with the exception of last year, there has not been much of a difference in jackson state and Alcorn the last 7 years according to the results of the head up matches. I think it is pure jealousy for anyone to say that Alcorn shouldn't have this schedule.

I know the guttersnipe comment wasnt for me.

My post about your vendetta was made in jest. Hell, I just read through the thread and saw where it went. I was thinking to myself, in the old days I would've RAN with that one-- SOGGY vs DOUGIE

TP, I understand the point, but to that I say this...while it is true Alcorn has a ways to go with football, I say you have to start somewhere. Look at what schools like UTSA and USA came out of the box scheduling a mix of BCS, FBS and FCS program. They will likely take their share of knocks along the way, but they have got to stat somewhere. In this case, Alcorn has got to start somewhere. It is an FCS program playing a non conference schedule made up of an FCS program and a FBS mid-major.

SOGGY,
I know the guttersnipe comment wasnt for me.

I was not aware of that. Who has accepted a payout from another 1-AA/FCS team?

JSU is 5-2 vs Alcorn in the last 7 years.

JSU is 6-1 vs SU in the last 7 years.

There is not much difference in Alcorn and SU from where I stand but JSU is leaps and bounds ahead of you both!

MH,

You wouldn't be shady at the fact we schedule your alma mater for Homecoming, would you? :D

Don't feel bad...Your Cousins in Huntsville have played us on Homecoming as well.

We love playing Hornets and Bulldogs on Homecoming.
