Alcorn 2012 Football Schedule

^^^^yes it is very competitive!

Alcorn is playing a school I'd love to see on our schedule......Arkansas State University (Jonesboro). They have a damn good team.

Didn't JR tell folks on this board you can schedule FCS powers if you want to. You don't have to wait until for the playoff system to do that. This is good scheduling. As a matter of fact, this is what helps you get better before attempting the take our arses to the FCS playoffs. Even if the SWAC mandated the playoffs for every school, YOU STILL NEED TO PLAY THESE TEAMS in the regular season. Only way you will learn how to beat them. Can't just show up for the playoffs and think you gone win if all you have played were HBCUs or even some weak FCS local squads.

I hope SU schedules one of these type teams as well. And we can quit thinking these schools owe us to come to our stadiums first. Sometimes you have to say fugg it and go play them mofos on their turf. Hell if you beat them at their place. You would really get the FCS world a talking about the SWAC again. Just my 2 cents worth. Good schedule Alcorn and they did this with all kinds of turmoil going on.

Yall just like Alcorn's Coach! Yall don't really care about Alcorn giving their fans competitive opponents to improve their product.

Good schedule! Just think if Alcorn beats James Madison at their place and we beat Sam Houston next year since they are coming to our place.....great to see us scheduling good FCS programs...hope we come ready to play, but that's how you schedule ADs! (or Alcorn's interim AD)

The schedule has been out for a minute....They gave out posters and wallet cards this past weekend in Vicksburg during the alumni convention...To say with all the bs, we still managed a great schedule..

Maybe we can play Georgia Southern.

Good that they did all of this without a AD & football coach.

Exactly, but if you let JROCK tell it...no matter what the circumstances are it is still the AD's call. Even if one doesn't exist.

Man, I shole wish my school was playing a non HBCU, FCS opponent this season. :shame:

BH is Happy.

Now, lets not wait until next year to fill out the schedule. Call FAMU, Howard, etc. AD and schedule another FCS opponent so we can already be set for 2013/2014.

Also, it is time for Grambling to come back to Jack Spinks.

But to end...BH is Happy.:)

Perhaps SOG needs to lobby for AD Lefleur it is my understanding that he is available. The last 3 years he scheduled the great Southern University Football Jags non conference games as follows:

2009 University of Louisiana @ Lafayette
2009 Tennessee State University
2009 Central State (don't laugh you all are 0-6 against them)
2010 Delaware State
2010 Arkansas Monticello
2011 Florida A&M
2011 Tennessee State University

BTW, the great Collie J. Nicholson would have been ashamed of your Doug bashing thread. :smh:  :emlaugh:

On Deck:

2012 New Mexico State
2012 Florida A&M

Stay focused...this is about "Da Corn" Way to go Braves!

Who says the scheduling happened in the midst of their mess?
I'm sure those games were planned way before the mess began.
Unlike the Swac, other conferences schedule ahead.
That game could have been planned along the same time Alcorn planned a game with Sippi State, USM etc...
you just don't wait until the last minute & end up with a full schedule & those opponents.

Say it ain't so! :emlaugh:

Wishful thinking but Alcorn gon get their butts handed to them. *Shrugs* They just wasting the small funds they do have to go to VA.

For the folks jumping up and down, what exactly makes this such a great schedule????

1. The schedule is not isolanists
2. The games are winnable IF Alcorn comes out to play and the coaches make good decisions
3. Respectable FCS Squad that a wina against them will Alcorn a chance to make some noise outside the SWAC
4. No Concordia, NAIA schools, or club teams that we should not be playing anyway
5. A Sunbelt school that the Alcorn team two years ago could have at least hung with (although Arky State had a good season last year) - the SWAC has been more competetive with the lower FBS divisions than other (PV - New Mexico 2009? and the spread for Southern's game with them this year in the early preason picks has been a toss up in most polls)

we actually had 12 games on the schedule for this year but they dropped it. it was texas college, to be played for homecoming.

TSUGirl,
I understand what you're saying. But....
1. The schedule is not isolanists
Our bball schedules aren't either. And we all see how that works out. Alcorn (coming off a 2 win season) scheduling road games at Arkansas State (an FBS school, coming off 10 win season) and James Madison (made it to 2nd round of FCS playoffs) is damn near the equivalent of a non-conference SWAC bball schedule. At least, we getting paid to absorb those bball beatdowns. Is that the case here? I hope so.

The games are winnable
:D

I'm not knocking Alcorn. I'm just questioning why the addition of road games at James Madison and Ark State would qualify as a great schedule. (esp. not knowing any number$)

MH, if it makes you feel any better, I thought you all did well in playing E. Michigan. I know in the case for ASU you are automatically locked in with Tuskegee. With that said, if you have to ask what makes this a great schedue....well???
