The same way you read articles to form your opinions, do some research on public policy and politics. Better yet the next time your state legislature is in session go down and sit through some of the committee meetings. At any rate, speaking for myself I never implied that President Obama is/was anything else other than what he was voted in based on his agenda. You need to keep in mind that while he is the President, Congress is charged with the duties of enacting the laws of the land. While the President has the right to develop the federal budget based on his policies, he still needs to get it approved by Congress who also want certain things in the budget that they promised to the people who voted them in. Dude it's a game of give and take, and while it seems that the repubs are winning they are giving up stuff too. I bet that if the House of Representatives was controlled by the Dems, none of this crap that's going on now would be happening.

But didn't the Dems have control in Washington near the end of the second Bush term and through 2010? If that is accurate, why couldn't all this strife been avoided then?

The thing about it is that I have researched history, trends and talked to those in politics and those who have studied and analyzed politics for decades. I've gone to meetings and the like over the years as well.

And I completely understand that this is a game being played on everybody in the country. I'm just tired of it from both sides really. I'm tired of a small group of people having so much control over all of our lives, and screwing us over. Yet, we continue to have faith in a system that really only benefits those at the very top, with the connections or are able to exploit the loopholes with no resistance.

I'm very skeptical of government right now.

He broke a promise, that's what killed him. Reagan raised taxes, clinton raised taxes in his 1st term and got re-elected. If Bush 1 doesn't make that statement then he would have been ok with public.

A lot of what is going on could have been resolved BEFORE the midterm elections. This is political theater meant to look like gridlock and usher in the first wave of American austerity. This committee they formed are going to increase taxes on the middle class (not the super wealthy like they should), cut social secuirty benefits (means testing at too low an income threshold and increasing the age to receive benefits) and further allow for the offshoring of profits. The true things which need to be done such as tariffs on the dumping of goods from countries that produce goods with serf and indentured servants will NOT occur. That is what will truly help middle class Americans. A country which produces NOTHING but flips paper for profit (Wall Street) is going to have the super rich at the top and a growing underclass. At the same time, civil liberties will be further eroded.

Also, schools which receive gov't money should limit the number/percentage of foreign students in critical needs fields. We have the best university system in the world and need to retain the knowledge and research in THIS country. If FL, the state started putting caps on the % of out of state students, as those slots were paid for by the taxpayers of the state of FL and they wanted that benefit for the children of those taxpayers. I see this issue no differently.

When I constantly encounter people who believe a man is above question or reproach, that is indeed the treatment given to a deity. But hey, we are used to it, as a large number of Black folks treat their pastor as their Christ, who is to be unquestioned. EVERY policitican is a self indulgent liar given to special interests. That is how they get the people to elect them using money from special interests and then serve the needs of the special interests while talking to the people.

Um...Ya'll are saying the same thing. And while Reagan raised the effective tax rate of most people, he did so by closing loopholes, while leaving the stated tax rates the same. True tax reform will focus on assets and passive income. The super rich who control most of the wealth and resources of the country largely go untaxed through their shelters and foundations which are not philanthropic in nature, but serve to shield their income. They are getting fat while the upper middle, middle and working classes fight over the scraps, blame each other and try to determine whose meager salary and benefit should be cut next. Heck, the bankers made outsized profits on the last 3 market bubbles and the average American taxpayers shielded them from losses on the way down. This is not capitalism, this is corporatism, where the top corporate interests supercede those of the individual. You have a higher concentration of wealth than anytime in our nations history, yet when was the last time you heard about real anti-trust issues? They have used us up and are ready for a mafia style bust out.

I assume you are not addressing me, as that is not the argument I made. I think both sides are really two sides of the same coin. I voted for him but will not again so. He burned me so he does not have my support. I am thinking third party candidate. Not sure who yet. I would rather lose voting for a green party candidate than a rep or dem stooge.

I never called Bill all of that. In fact, that was my first presidential election. I have learned and grown a lot since then and have come to realize in hindsight how garbage he was. Between the repeal of Glass Steagel, NAFTA, GATT and China relations, he killed off the working and middle classes of this country.

It's sad you have to constantly encounter people who believe man is above question or reproach, and that you think Black folks treat their pastors as if they were Christ. But no man is above God, especially politicians and even President Obama. It's beyond evident that the President is questioned, challenged, even publicly ridiculed and tried to be humiliated. So obviously there is an even bigger number who does not view him as a deity because he ain't one. When I am in daily devotion and prayer throughout the day, I address my prayers to the Lord God Jehovah and ask in Jesus' name. And I still say that President Obama is the only one bringing ideas to the table.....they may not be the best ideas,and there were a few I didn't like, but who outside him is offering any suggestion that will help the average, hardworking class American? Speaking for myself, I never suggested he is our messiah. To me he is the President of the United States of America and all I expect him to do is what is outlined in the U.S Constitution for any person who holds the office based on hi/hers policy agenda. I don't know why people are sitting around thinking he could turn around an economy that's been screwed up for so long in such a short time. There is no "easy" button President Obama can press to solve America's economic problems. Plus he has to deal with a bunch media whores in House of Representatives who want him to look bad given that we are going into an election year. You can expect these tactics to intensify as they continue fighting the policies he wants to implement to better our economy.

Obama can create all the progams he wants to deal with those messes-however if people are willing to change it means nothing.

Programs to deal with all that is out there, our sorry race won't get off its behind to use them.

I voted for him as well. If you have to boil down the convo to such a level of oversimplification, you are entirely missing MY point. And one of the reason I voted for him was his campaign promise to assist us to live in peace by withdrawing US troops. That has not been done, but it seems as if you have a problem with him, it is racial self hatred, not his policies. That may be an oversimplification as well.

I never said EVERYONE who supports Obama views him as a messiah. I said there are SOME out there who believe he can do no wrong and are tremendously loyal even though he hasn't delivered on many promises or issues and won't constructively criticize him or rebuff those who do criticize him. That's what I mean.
