I thought Obama said

Re: I thought Obama said ...

That's not no reach... It's obvious you are a follower when it comes to politics and you just accept anything someone with a D infront of their name say...
You are no better than those that do it when it comes to the republicans.

No it's not i just don't agree with your thinking.

Re: I thought Obama said ...

You coming off very "slow/retarded" when you keep bring up Bush, when I am talking about this present administration man.

So according to YOU.. since everything BUSH did that you were against is just fine if Obama do it?

I know some of you disagree with my beliefs.. But if yall support this BULLSHYT that GSU4life is spitting.. DAMN!

But you haven't proven that raising taxes will hurt the economy.

Re: I thought Obama said ...

It's not supporting it.. it's explaining what will happen "if"... Did you even read the article?

I read with comprehension, did you?

It says if we go over the debt limit we basically have big issues. Regardless of what is done, the commitments made by Congress will have to be paid. No debt ceiling increase, we go over the limit.

If we raise the debt ceiling, we don't go over the limit.

Re: I thought Obama said ...

damn SU and GSU 4life... not good..

GSU... I asked you, because based off most of your post, I doubt you even do.

I mean I am sure you didn't say..."Wow, I keep to keep a lil more of my money...nahh wtf is Bush thinking..I don't want more of my money..I hate hiiimmm"...lol

So what were the BUSH tax cuts you didn't agree with. There is "google" you may find the answer there...then you can come back on here and pretend you knew what they were and how much you disliked them...

You missed the part that list what CAN be done besides TAX hikes... like cutting programs... Taxes don't HAVE to be raised... But this administration CLEARLY wants to do that. Stop half reading

man that extra $100 or so I got to keep each month isn't a deal breaker for me. I would rather have SS and other programs than those funky $$$. I'm in favor of the current health care bill. should have been single payer but hey it is what it is. I don't need google, know this when clinton was in office and taxes were high, we lived a whole lot better.

go back and look at what Regan did after he got in office, he lowered taxes the economy started to tank. Came back the next year and raised taxes.

Re: I thought Obama said ...

SUTrp96. Suppose you were president. What would you do? Current revenues only fund 60% of federal disbursements and the other 40% is borrowed. I gather that you are opposed to any and all tax increases. So, are you proposing that we cut federal spending by 40% to balance the budget or do you have another proposal. Educate us my brother!

This economy is not hurting for everyone. Don't fool yourself and believe that. The number of Millionaires and Billionaires has increase dramatically during this recession. Those are the folks who need their taxes raised. Along with closing the many tax lop holes and tax subsidies for farmers and multi-billion dollar oil companies. That trickle-down economics crap doesn’t work.

I don't believe he's looking at the big picture! He's only looking at a small glimpse of that economy as a whole. Even Reagan increased taxes to stabilize the economy because he eventually saw the "light"! What the former Republicans did during their time in office---especially Bush and his cronies--was sit a dinner table and order 2 servings of expensive wars, tax cuts (spending) for the rich, TARP, and a stimulus, and then he left the table without paying for it! :shame:

And now Obama sits at the table and looks at the bill and says "what the fauck?" :shame: Instead of walking away he pays the tab and now he's forced to figure out ways to resolve the big mess without hurting the class that supports the economy the most in the first place..."the middle class!"

Say what you will, but taxes will have to go up for some of the wealthy in order to balance this thing out!

Re: I thought Obama said ...

During George W. Bush administration, when the budget surplus turned to deficit and debt piled up, Republican leaders in Congress voted to raise the debt ceiling 5 times, increasing the limit nearly $4 trillion.

Yep.

I didn't see it as Obama raising taxes. I see it as him making the rich pay what they owe.

What I thought was happening was that Obama wants to get rid of the loopholes that these big companies find and exploit when it comes to them not having to pay taxes. He is trying to get rid of these tax breaks and subsidies that the big businesses and upper class seem to benefit from receiving, while the other classes have to carry their load and everybody else's.

Republicans don't want that...obviously.

And by trying to take away the tax breaks from the big companies and MAKING them pay what they actually owe, the Republicans (who have taken it upon themselves to serve the wealthy and the big businesses) see it as Obama trying to raise taxes.

Truth be told, the only folks really raising hell about this are the rich and wealthy, whom are ironically the cheapest of the bunch.

What I see is the right wing using this debt ceiling to push their right wing agenda. They are holding the economy hostage right now because they can't have their way...just like some little kids playing chicken. And when the deadline to raise the ceiling comes and goes and the country defaults on paying its bills, the Republicans WILL blame Obama solely for the the collapse that is sure to follow. Now I can't wait til the next election. The republicans now have me sold. I can support a group that is willing to go this far to push their selfish agenda like this. Thank the lawd Obama isn't backing down to their ransom demands. We'll be really screwed if he does.

~Off my soapbox~

Re: I thought Obama said ...

If anybody with a right wing mindset were in office now, they would let the chips fall as they may. They'll continue to let big business get the tax breaks so only they can thrive initially...and then hopefully that success the big business and upper class receives will trickle down for the rest of us "not so fortunates" to scrap over.

Just let it be...things will fix themselves, just like they always have.

"I'd rather have SS".. are you saying by taking in your extra $100 or so your SS was cut?

But what was done in the past doesn't matter. This new guy needs to do it without raising the debt ceiling. SMH

It's way too much federal spending waste (imo). (Military)We say we in certain countries for our interest or what ever else reason.. The main interest we always hear about is Oil.. well if we start saying the hell with these environmental NUTS in our country we wouldn't NEED or be as dependant on other countries for their commodities. I have family in the military that will tell you money is spent on a lot of unnecessary stuff.."millions" of dollar or even more.. Just because the money is there..

So I say look at the military see what is "needed" and cut the rest of it.

I feel the same about a lot of these social programs that I see doing hardly anything for the condition of our neighborhoods that these social programs are supposed to be targeting. I say take a close look at what good these programs are doing or not and cut a bunch of em' because.

Heck, this administration is suing the State of Louisiana because of all the money they spend on the poor here through social programs and there complaint is not enough of those who collect these services aren't registered to vote. We already know who the target "voters" they are complaining about no voting...smh

That in it self tell me BIG government regardless of who is in power "DEMS or REPUBS" have made poor people DEPENDANT and lazy! They can get up and register to get food stamps and what ever else.. But too lazy to get up a register for the party (democrats) that is making it all possible for them...smdh

But if they were taught a different attitude, they then wouldn't be as many people in this state depending on the government for assistance with able bodies.

It's not like the government isn't taking in a shyt load of tax payers money already.. They are spending too much of it and spending it unwisely...(imo)
