SWAC Directors of Athletics (ADs) & Senior Women Administrators (SWAs) did not

Re: SWAC Directors of Athletics (ADs) & Senior Women Administrators (SWAs) did not ..

Most people know the SCG is post season, i don't know why they are trying to act brand new.

That's is not true usa, that issue has been debated on this board several times and the fact that Disney wanted us to participate in a bowl game and the SWAC office (so it has been said) was talking about dispensing of the SCG the FOLLOWING year, only ask for even more clarification on the issue.

Re: SWAC Directors of Athletics (ADs) & Senior Women Administrators (SWAs) did not ..

Well me personally i have always viewed the SCG as post season especially since the SWAC doesn't participate in the play-offs.

I don't need to be. The only reason why the NCAA says it's post season is because the SEC and other conferences have championship games and it's only fair to put the SCG in the mix but keep in mind those other conference with championship games also participate in the play-offs but many you actually can't read between the lines. If all teams aren't playing and you're playing after 11 games, it's post season point blank due to our conference not participating in the play-offs. Jafus put the info out but some don't want to fess up to it. I personally don't need the NCAA to tell me something that i have always felt and known. So check on.

Bluedog,
I'm still trying to get confirmation that the SCG is considered a post season game. Because if it isn't then what's the point?
TexasTerror,
It is not a postseason contest per the current NCAA rules. I believe now that this 'loophole' is clearly out in the open now as it relates to the SCG and other conference championship games (most notably at the FBS level). The NCAA typically fills these quickly and I presume that next legislative cycle, the organization's membership will move swiftly to cover it.

Perhaps Jafus can enlighten us as whether the SWAC received information from the NCAA to support my presumption...
That is incorrect. By NCAA guidelines it is considered a season-ending postseason tournament. While, the SWAC Championship Game (SCG) is not a NCAA-sponsored postseason game or tournament, the SCG is not a regular season game. By definition, the game is a conference-sponsored postseason tournament.

NOTE: Below

NCAA DIVISION 1 MANUAL 2010-2011
17.9.5.2 Annual Exemptions. [FBS/FCS]

(d) Championship Subdivision Conference Tournament.
[FCS] A conference-sponsored, season-ending postseason tournament (one between teams that are not identified until the end of the preceding regular season), not to exceed one contest for any member institution. This provision does not preclude an institution from participating in a conference-sponsored season-ending postseason tournament and additional postseason football opportunities (e.g., NCAA Championship, Heritage Bowl) during the same season; (Adopted: 1/16/93 effective 8/1/93, Revised: 1/13/98 effective 8/1/98, 2/16/00, 12/15/06)

So if the SCG doesn't preclude: To make impossible, as by action taken in advance; prevent.

2. To exclude or prevent (someone) from a given condition or activity

a school from participating in the NCAA tournament, it sounds to me that their only concern are those that they sponsor.

Meaning their post season ban is directed at the NCAA tournament and any bowl games

It doesn’t cover things like conference championship games, but Thursday’s SWAC vote took that extra step. Most fans and administrators seemed to expect it.

Two days later, however, Mitchell said he’s still upset.

He gives two reasons.

First, the SWAC championship is an extension of the regular season, and as Mitchell sees it, why should his players get banned from a regular-season game?

“They shouldn’t keep us out. They shouldn’t keep Jackson State out,” he said. “If either of these two schools make it to that game, our fans will support it. ...

Again if this is the case why vote to keep your cash cows out of contention for your biggest payday?

Re: SWAC Directors of Athletics (ADs) & Senior Women Administrators (SWAs) did not ..

You would need to ask the SWAC presidents/chancellors that question above what they sent out in the media release.

So it's not a "post season" game and there was no need for the SWAC to ban any school from participating in the SCG.

Thanks for clearing that up...

Did you not read that it is a conference-sponsored postseason event?

Did you not read that it is a conference-sponsored postseason event?

I did...and I also read where it was not included in the ban so there was no need for the SWAC Presidents to vote on it...

You don't really mean that do you???????

Man yall take life way to serious man. No one really wants to see another HBCU fail. Jokes man, just jokes. Just like JSU picks on every school, I return the favor.

Re: SWAC Directors of Athletics (ADs) & Senior Women Administrators (SWAs) did not ..

First of all, SU ain't winning but 3 games. Second of all JSU is going to have a losing season also. So in other words it is useless to keep bragging on what if these two schools make it to the SCG. It is not happening.
