The APR is not about just grades, a player get one point for being academically eligible and one point for staying in school. So on a team of 85 and every player being academically eligible and all stay in school, that 170 point. If 9 of the 85 players get no points, i.e., they are academically ineligible and quits school; you would get an APR of 894. T

Tutoring and grades aren't the issue. Graduation is the issue. We have to do a better job with retention. Of course, we all have our academic casualites who come up short in the fall and are ineligible, but the problem (with JSU, at least, can't speak for SU) is that we have had guys come in, play one year of ball, and are out before Spring Break. Then we had guys who just had their scholarships pulled by Comegy and faded into obscurity. Those are the players that are hurting us. The guys that manage to remain on the team are graduating.

We should all know that AD's votes are motivated on different things than school Pres/Chancelors.....They vote for the interest of their department/athletic program whereas Pres/Chancelors votes are more inline of the thought process of CEO's which are bottonline thinking. There are many instances where the two were/are not consistant. Which renders votes from coaches and AD's moot to a certain degree. Perfect example would be the SEC vote on limiting football signings to 25 from 28...every Ad and coach within the conference voted against the proposal however the Presidents voted for the measure....

I think the presidents are more likely to vote in favor of their respective AD's. Expect another 8-2 vote.

The 8-2 vote was an official vote by the ADs, but is not the vote that matters that will make the ban official. I'll admit that the thread title is misleading. But there is no reason to believe that the presidents will vote against their ADs on this particular case. Except for Alcorn's president who will not vote at all against (as he put it) "our younger peer JSU".

On a team of 85 players, 76 can have a 3.0 or higher GPA for a term and 9 zero for 2 players (i.e., 9 player not in school the next term and academically ineligible) and your APR would be 894.

Thats what happened with SU basketball. Spivery would run half the team off every year.

I think it's more of a "straddle the fence" move by Brown. His heart of hearts is saying, "Hell NO!" but he wants to maintain a cordial relationship with JSU........after all, we're still in close proximity. Politicians do this all the time when a controversial vote arises.

Even if the President's votes go the same way, ALL SU or JSU has to do is beat everyone else's ass and it won't matter who the wins the SCG, point blank.
