Jim Tressel resigns as Ohio State HC

Pryor better get his azz out of Ohio quickly. Those folks are about to gut him like a fish.

He's leaving. I doubt after Tressel had to go.........that he would come back. Too much has happened now. I wish dude luck. He has this chip on his shoulder that he may need to let go. Never handled all this too well. Ego tripping somewhat. Still a good kid and I would love for my Steelers to pick him up and let him sit and learn awhile. Need a backup for Ben anyway. Cousin Charlie getting old. But he could at least mentor him.

Which is what I meant. Winning but not dominant. They were not a National Power before Spurrier and didn't have the same history as Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, USC, Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma and some others with decades of winning and being top 10 programs. Spurrier put them there in the 90s and Meyer returned them there in the late 2000s. So the Florida job may pay a lot of money and it's a good job to have no doubt with it's fan base, money and recruiting area. But it is still not the premier job in the SEC to have. Alabama still is. One could argue with all due respect to Michigan who is has a great history that the Ohio State job is the premier job in the Big 10 for football.

Who cares about what happened 40 and 50 years ago. Notre Dame, Tulane and Ole Miss were forces back then, how is that working out for them now? Alabama is the premier job if you are just looking at football, but overall Florida is a much better destination.

I hope you are talking about Batch mentoring him and not Roethlisberger.

Florida was dominant in the 90's and early 2000's. Ron Zook derailed that in his 2.5 years, and Meyer was able to pick the team back up. He wasn't able to dominate because Alabama, Auburn, and LSU were all at full strength during his tenure.

We ain't talking 40-50 years ago. LOL. We are talking that Florida aint consistently a Top 10 program over time.......period. Ole Miss wasn't great 40 years ago. LOL. Neither was Tulane.

Notre Dame has other issues. And how is Florida a better destination than Alabama? I will wait on this one. You are just Florida bias because you are a fan. Have you ever attended Florida to know how great it is? Have you been to Gainesville Florida? Do you really think Florida is better to work for than Alabama as a football coach? Now Juke.....you can't be serious.

Ohio State made Pryor what he is, now they're turning their backs on the dude....and this after taking them to the national title?! Ungrateful SOB's.

This not only spells doom for Ohio State in football, it spells doom for the Big Ten and MILLIONS of dollars because Ohio State WAS the Big Ten in football. No more national championships for the Big Ten for a few years.

Look how long it took Florida to get that good. Unlike an Ole Miss or Tulane who didn't have the resources Florida had. It was no reason for them to be mediocre and allow Miami and Florida State to dominate for that long. And both of those schools still have more success over the last 25 -30 years than Florida did. That's my point. Even LSU is a johnny come lately. They were not isht in the 70s or 80s when I was at SU. Them suckers were sad. Alabama has been the mainstay in the SEC even when down......they still have won in every decade to stay revelant. Florida is no where near their success and probably will never be. Zook's problem is he can't coach. He could recruit. But he can't win consistently.......see Illinois and how he is on the bubble every year there and he has more talent than Michigan State and Iowa but can't win. We will see how ole Muschamp does with Florida State and Jimbo Fisher on the rise.

Who's turning their backs on Pryor. LOL. He is doing what he wants too. Pryor was already a celebrity kid way before he got to Ohio State. Just like Lebron was coming out of HS with his Hummer in tow. LOL. Aint nothing going to take Ohio State down dude. Stop thinking it. This aint the first run in with the NCAA. They will be fine just like Alabama was. Just hire the right coach and you win. They may take a year or two lumps and that will be it. Meanwhile Michigan, Penn State, Iowa, and now Nebraska will be able to fill in if OSU has some down years. It will not be right away because the Bucks are loaded for a couple of years at least. So depending on what the NCAA does as penalities it will not affect them right away. Maybe by 2013 or 14 when they don't have the depth or so. But again, I seriously doubt it kills the program. They will not make the same mistake and hire a Mike Shula like Bama did. They will get their Saban type coach right off the jump.

BTW, when did Pryor take OSU to a national title?

Notice how Pryor's name is the only one called and being pounded. Ole Tressell is a "good guy" that made a mistake. They hate to see him go according to all the post and comments comming from there. Pryor need to go ahead and apply for the supplemental draft.

Tressell who had this same problem when he left Youngstown State, is now being looked at way back to the beginning of his 10 year run at Ohio State because rumors are this been going on from the jump.

Nebraska will win the Big 10 fairly easy this year IMO. Wisconsin will be the biggest test.

It's crazy man. Dwight Folk acting like tressell is some angel and Pryor is selfish and wasn't thinking about the team. Folks don't realize that they have been conditioned to automatically think negative about the athletes and believe the victim is the coach and in the case of the NFL owners.

Actually Ray Issac who played for Youngstown State and was in question while Tressel was there said it was never like folks thought and the media don't want to hear it. LOL. Tressel is still taking a pounding. Pryor is not a happy go lucky kid that smiles all the time like Cam Newton. He is kind of sully/Barry Bonds like. Folks just don't like his attitude. I think he is a good kid that has made some questionable decision. Very Smart academically. Just has a chip on his shoulder.

You shole is right Juke. Folks never warmed up to Pryor because he has that swagger/sully attitude. They loved Troy because Troy was laidback (well until he went off on Singletary) LOL. Pryor is a good kid. Just don't be grinning and skinning for folks. Aint his personality. Kind of got that Kobe personality. Don't care if you like him or not attitude. His Grandmother said he would be fine if folks left him alone. Sometimes you can have too much fame to fast. That's why I hate how they do these kids from HS. He took flack because he waited to make his decision after signing day. Folks thought it was ploy......when in reality it was the family being torn about him going to Penn State(his Daddy wanted him to play there) and going out of state. Dude's father has a handicap and the kid had a lot of pressure from everyone on where he should go. But he got villiafied for it from the jump causing the masses to criticize the kid every time he made a mistake on the field. Even the OSU fans starting buying into it. It's shame if you ask me how the media builds these kids up just hoping to tear them down.

Nebraska will win the Big 10 fairly easy this year IMO. Wisconsin will be the biggest test.

Talk about being a "Johnny on the spot" team.
You telling the truth about Nebraska being able to win the BIG 10 "easy" this year. The thing about Wisconsin though, comming from the Big 12, Nebraska is used to playing those "big hog" type teams that Wisconson will bring.

The only way the NCAA will even open its eyes to the possibility of paying players is if a major scandel happens widespread to the current NCAA Media Darlings:

The SEC and the University of Texas.

That's a lie. Hell they could not even run through the sorry azz Big 12 with UT having one the worse seasons in years. If you all think Nebraska is about to come into the Big 10 and run the show you got another thing coming.

I wouldn't give them the title that easy. Ohio State is still loaded. So unless they are ineligible for the title. They will be in the mix. Penn State is loaded. Michigan State returns all their players. That Qb at Nebraska will have to be able to throw the ball better than he did last year to win. Just running aint going to cut it.

LOL. Styles folks think Nebraska is just going to come in and run rough shod. Penn State joined the Big 10 with a better team and couldn't dominate. LOL. Nebraska gone get hit in the mouth just like Penn State did. They will win the Big 10 sometimes. But shole aint going to be an easy time of it. They have holes too.

I say "easy" because the strongest Big 10 team, OHIO STATE, has been rendered toothless for 2011. That only leaves Wisconsin, Iowa, and Penn State as Nebraskas serious competition. Michigan ain't nowhere near ready and the rest of the Big 10 besides the 3 teams I named don't stand a chance of beating Nebraska.

jstate83,
Nebraska couldn't even run through the sorry azz Big 12, what makes you think they are about to run through the Big 10. The Big 10 is heads and shoulders about the sorry azz old Big 12. You cats are killing me.

How are they rendered toothless for 2011. You do realize they are seriously loaded. The heir apparent to Pryor got on campus in January and looked great in the Spring game. Folks already think this kid is a better passer. The Rbs behind Boom Herron were better than him in my opinion anyway. Tressel just loved Boom for some reason.

The biggest spot I am the most worried about is Posey being out. We will have new WRs. They are talented. Tressel did not leave the cupboard bare and there is an influx of Florida recruits getting ready to hit the field. Herbstreit just warned Big 10 folks the other day not to take OSU lightly because the remaining players returning will have a real chip on their shoulders.

Also remember everybody returns just in time for Nebraska. Nice and healthy. Wisconsin lost their OL so they will take a step back and they lost their QB. Nebraska can't pass the ball consistently. The Big 10 schools are used to the run pounding. So it aint going to be easy. Plus their will be rumor upon rumor all season on whether Bo Pellini will bolt for his alma mater (Ohio State) if they call. I can see this not going Nebraska's way. That highly touted QB and Pellini already be bumping heads. So like I said, it will not be easy getting by any of the top Big 10 teams.

Michigan will be better than they were under Rich Rod........watch what I tell ya.

I know. That Penn State team was loaded with NFL first round talent and didn't come in running shat.

What are the head to head records over the past decade?
