Man, what does Comegy have going against him? APR won't get him fired becasue that is constantly rising. This is what matters.

Win the SWAC: Get contract extension.
Go to the playoffs: possible contact extension
Don't get to Bham: FIRED
Get to Bham and lose: not sure he but I would assume FIRED.

You so nor I can say if this is Comegy's last year. That is his destiny to decide.

Dude please go talk to JSU alums close to the situation. Don't have to front on TSPN. Aint no secret that President ain't his biggest fan from the Norfolk State stuff. Your street committee has some folks who aint really with Comegy anymore. You know that. That APR will get him fired. Actually yall don't have to fire him. His contract is up. He will not get a renewal. This is bigger than wins and losses down there. Don't be naive. You know the culture in Jackson. It is a hard place.

How many years will Stump get to have a winning season?

His 3 years. He has to show vast improvement this year. He wins 5-6 games with some of them being significant wins and loses others by close margins. That will take some heat off of him to come back for his 3rd year. He wins 2-4 games and the heat will be on SU powers that be to cut their losses now. Especially with a new AD and Chancellor being onboard by then. Also don't let Heish with Orlando do well at PV and Dooley do well with UAPB while we struggle.....that will get some folks riled up. So no doubt he has to produce this year. But say if he can get wins at Tn State, FAMU, JSU, Gram and PV.....that would go a long way for him. I only threw PV in there because of the Heish factor. He has his work cut out for him.

Also, we talkin about this year when we come to BR and bust ya'll in the mouth. Though I must admit, I am not as down on Stump as some others are. I think he can win at SU. The main thing I liked about him was that (aside from that TxSorry azz whoopin), his kids fought to win games. He is also a good azz kisser to the Nation. Last year, I predicted SU would finish 8th in the SWAC overall...only ahead of Valley and Alcorn but he finished 9th..only ahead of Valley. But I think this year, he can have a middle of the pack squad that can run with the mediocre teams in the SWAC like AAMU, PV, UAPB, Valley, and Alabama State... But JSU, TxSo, Alcorn and Grambling gonna bust ya'll azz! I can see SU going 5-6 this year.

We shall see what Stump does. But he has slightly less pressure on him than Comegy does. That's for sure.

Norfolk State stuff? Meyers was not the President when that happened. :smh: That happened in 2003. Meyers didn't become President at NSU until 2005. I know JSU is a hard place to please but you have to also realize the Meyers only HBCU experiences come from NSU, Howard and A&T....all mediocore football programs. She ain't about to fire a coach after winning a championship. I'm not totally happy with Comegy myself but I won't support firing him if does not win the SWAC.

Street committee? When has a street committee ever decided anything in Jackson. The only people who will make a decision is those who are putting their money where their mouth is and one of our BIGGEST financial supporters brought Comegy to Jackson and I doubt that he will send him away.

A LOT is also going to rest on who our AD is. Our "street committee" has a replacement for Comegy in mind but any AD will make his own decision on coaches because he will have to face the fire for that decision.

He has MUCH less pressure than Comegy does. Comegy has to work with less bodies and pretty much HAS to win win the SWAC to keep his job. Stump might get an extention with a 6-5 record. But bruh.... Spears, Comegy and Dug gonna light his azz up.

Yeah, Southern University Football will look good...from the business side
As for the "Between the Gridiron Side"...................Stump Mitchell is still Head Coach.

BTW: I hope that defense of yours is improved because well....you'll see in Fall 2011....The Brave Attack Squandron...I can't wait...:D

I honestly think he needs to do well in Atlanta. There has been more mess talking already than I thought for this game and it appears alumni on both sides are pretty hype. I know FAMU is not the end all and be all of the SU season, but it appears the rivalry has not lost much luster if any. If he starts 0-3 or 0-4 he is in for a battle. Not sure if the AFC was the best thing for him. It may be best for the alumni, school and athletic department , but maybe not him. I just dont see an easy road to 5 or 6 wins next year. It could happen, but I just dont think it is highly probable.

And hell, while ya'll are riding Comegy, we didnt renew Joe Taylor and he has gone 9-3, 8-3 and 8-3 in his first three seasons, going 2-1 and 3-0 against TnSU and BCU respectively. Some of ya'll are tough on these coaches. LOL

Also, if Meyers wanted to fire Comegy for APR and and personal grudge, she could have pulled that trigger in January when the APR report was made public. Why hang on to a coach you don't want. Also, there is a RUMOR floating around that our APR numbers are wrong anyway and the compliance office has to recalculate it. IF that is true, they need to clean house in that office. The RUMOR is, they didn't know how to handle how to count the transfers and mucked the reports up. But that is just a RUMOR. However, I for one was in the Den asking if our APR is so bad, why do we so rarely have a kid ineligible. In Comegy's 5 years, very few our kids had to sit for academics and two we knew about from last year are back on the field as we speak.

Stump is gonna get drug in ATL. However, I do think that after he starts off 0-4, he can turn the season around with the weaker teams left on the schedule. He might even be able to pull wins out over AAMU or TNState but right now, I just don't see it. JSU and FAMU should be big losses tho.

Joe Taylor doesn't blow anyone out. They could not be in the game and the box score still wont look bad. He wants to run the ball and play defense. Actually, Taylor could be your next coach.

Just an outsider's Thought:

Jaguar Nation may not realize this, but Tennessee State will have something to prove due to SU taking their spot in the Atlanta Classic...Just a Thought.
This game by itself could turn out very ugly. Doesn't Tennessee State have the star RB returning this year or was he Senior last year? But, just a thought.

Ok. Remember where you president is from. Remember from whence Joe Taylor came. He runs a clean program, wins and graduates players. He is getting a high level BCF job if we fire him.

He can get whatever the hell he want, but he wont be getting that Jackson State job.

Are yall going to call Cole once FAMU and Taylor part ways?

Southern,

Did you change your HOMECOMING opponent yet? We weren't going to beat you too badly. :emlaugh:
