Why she doesn't "look" 11

This a spinoff of the thread about the 11-year-old Texas girl being gang raped by an estimated 28 guys last Thanksgiving.

It got me thinking. Over the last couple of years I've read a lot of stories about guys being charged with rape and afterward saying the girl looked legal.

Just during random banter on message boards and among friends and relatives, it has been acknowledged that a lot of young girls/teens or whatever are physically more mature than their actual ages.

As a result you have older guys hitting on them or in some cases actually engaging in sexual activity with those young girls.

I've read some studies that reveal young girls, especially African-American girls, are developing faster than ever before. That they are having their period faster than ever before, and during the teen years have the body of a 20-something.

Why? Some believe it has to do with diet or other environmental factors to explain why some girls seem to to be rapidly developing so young.

Are there other reasons or is this just natural evolution of development?
 
1. Food/Diet
2. Clothes..yes clothes
3. lack of exercise
4. fast lifestyle
5. starting to experiment early.
 



Let me say this...regardless of looks and how develop her body look! You can still tell she is an kid. Our race you can tell!

You can still look at these lil girls and tell they are babies. If you can't tell you are a pedophile.

And even if you can't tell, if you talk to them long enough, they'll say and/or do something to let you know how young they are.

The very thing you are talking about was on one of the talk shows. That study also revealed that black girls where in puberty 2-3 years earlier than other races.

Part of the issue is that there is no clear cut definition of what signals the start of puberty or a clear-cut way to measure it. Breast development is a somewhat related but ultimately separate issue, and even menarche, the first first menstrual cycle, occurs after puberty has already started, and there isn't much data suggesting that menarche is occurring earlier in relatively recent times. Without question it occurs earlier than it did, say even 100 years ago, but a lot of that is because we're healthier as a society.

That's understandable. The lack of clear definitions causing confusion. Being healthier as a society giving the appearance of earlier onset of puberty when it may not scientifically be the case. Makes sense.

Unfortunately, society still has to deal with girls who may look more mature than they are though.

That's interesting. I remember having a discussion with one of my relatives a few years back, and we were wondering why the heck so many girls seemed more developed than they did when were kids. Then I saw an article in the NY Times about a mom being concerned that her 8-year-old daughter was physically developing way too fast.
 
Yall do realize that for the greater part of history, 18-30 year old men have married and had babies by 12-14 year old women.

I don't think Pops is saying he wants adults having sex with teenagers. He is just pointing out how before laws were changed or enacted, youth-adult relationships were commonplace in our world.
