Swac Basketball - 2/11/11-2/12/11


We needed this win. Those Mississippi boys helped us out tonight....Justin and Nicos. The bench scored 22 points tonight (according to Chatta). That was our saving grace and the forwards fouling out may have been a blessing in disguise...it made us go to a smaller lineup and put Galloway down low.

I have tremendous respect for JSU's strong tradition and great fan support, especially in football. That said, I like this budding rivalry that seems to get stronger-let's evaluate:

1) TSU men's basketball team broke JSU's 17-game SWAC win streak when we beat them here in Houston.
2) Tonight was the first home lost for JSU this season.
3) The big win in football last season in Houston was a disappointment for the JSU fans.

It was the lesser of two evils.. we were gonna be a game down to whoever won anyway... but at least with JS-Who, they have to come to Itta Bena... we needed yall to gain another loss in the loss column (I wonder who gave yall that one L lol)

Seriously, your guys shot lights out in the first half and it took THarvey too long to make adjustments....The hill was too large to climb in the second half. We closed the gap but expended too much energy doing so and could not sustain the momentum. Valley is a good shooting team when they are on and that night they were on....big time.

But now you got to come to the H&PE baby! Don't be skerd.

Per Ross Dellenger tweet: Wow. TSU's Travele Jones had 10 of his 22 points in the final 4 minutes and JSU missed 5 of its final 9 free throws.

That's why he was pre-season POY
 
Gotta give sTu its props for persevering and winning the game. As usual, I thought TA stayed with his bench much too long, but key players missed too many FTs down the stretch, while sTu hit theirs. These 2 squads apparently will play hotly contested games that won't get decided until the final minute.

Congrats sTu on the win. Y'all deserved it.
 
Difference was certainly 2nd half free throws. We shot 84% and JSU shot 50% from the free throw line in the 2nd half.

Overall, we shot 80% from the free throw line and JSU shot 64%.

Furthermore, JSU was cold from 3pt line and FG, especially in the 2nd half.
 
We not worreid about TSU!!!! lol... Please.... We coming to play now on out!!!! I'm kind of glad we got embarrassed by Alabama State it really made them think and work harder. We coming and coming strong to Texas after we finish handling a little home business Monday. Go Green!!!!
 
But nall JSU gives a coach a renewal for losing and he has not won shit and he is too dam OLD, I am boycotting all of these games
 
Nice win, Golden Lions, against Southern. :) I know that one-point loss back on January 15th hurt.
