Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

I still say UAPB and AAMU should have kept our game going in the STL classic. We could grown into a rivalry.

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

One problem. Where will the fans come from :) .

I see you never been to a State Fair Classic, Port City Clasic etc. Don't be so gullible thinking that GSU has no fans. Now i can't speak for Alcorn:)

SO when has the Port City classic ever have 50,000 plus fans. SU and JSU isnt a classic. Just a regular game.

Hell we had 25,000 in Indepedence Stadium and that was just Grambling fans, Tech was the one that only brought about 10,000 fans. Notice you didn't ask that question about the State Fair Classic. 50,000 plus hasn't been done at the SU vs JSU game in a while so stop reminiscing. If Grambling fans are up for a game we can bring a good number of fans.

Hell we had 25,000 to 30,000 in Indepedence Statdium, Tech was the one that didn't bring many fans. Notice you didn't ask that question about the State Fair Classic.

Both are classics. SU vs JSU is just another game lol. Who couldnt attract fans in a large city like Dallas.

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

Exactly.....and half the folks going to the State Fair classic are just locals from Dallas who have nothing else better to do but walk around, not pay attention to the game and run from gunfire. JSU/SU always has 50k in memorial and always would fill up Mumford..........don't believe the lying figures "the man" always gives in the newspaper the next day. We don't need a "classic" title to have great atmostphere and a big crowd.

the question or statement was about Gram and Alcorn...not the State Fair Classic.....and with regarts to the thread topic....FALSE!

UAPB and Texas Southern played and Dallas two years in a row and they couldn't attract much so that answers your question about who couldn't attract fans in large Dallas. Notice that game isn't in Dallas anymore.

Hell Grambling had more fans in ULM's stadium in 2007. That's why they want us to come there in 2011 and 2013. You are truly speculating. Certain aspects fire up Grambling's fans and Grambling has always been apart of Classics due to the rural area it's in, Coach Rob implemented the take the show on the road and it makes us money. Hell JSU and SU think of each other 24/7 and actually hate each other so of course that game will have 40,000. Used to have more but i'm not going to go there.

If there is one thing that will fuel a rivalry, it is a strong subplot. Spears vs. Doug.

USA Today...you still are not hitting on the topic....so I will put my two cents in on it.....I do think that that game between Gram and the Corn will grow more now, but only because Alcorn with Spears will become more relevent. Spears will have them right, with more talent and a more exciting offense, Gram on the other hand is going to be Gram no matter what, yall just have a consistent program....never down that far for that long and always near the top.....so the games themselves will be much more intense, now weather that will translate into more fans coming to them only time will tell.

That is what I was about to say...I do see where you are trying to go with this....there are a few good subplots and storylines there....

Former Gram coach kicked out and now gets a chance at payback every year and is using his school to do it....

Former assistant against his boss....

etc....

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

Alcorn is not on our level...none of yall are!

Not saying Doug will be the next coach but if he does i'm sure that will spark Gramblinites up but one thing for sure he isn't the only person qualified to lead Grambling and i will stop at that. Alcorn fans will get up for Grambling just because Spears is GSU's former coach.

I'm not worried about Alcorn... the last Grambling coach they beat now coaches them. (See why I'm not worried) LOL!

I hope all this happens....Would love to see more intense games in our conference...for one thing to "drive up business for our businesses".....we need this to happen....we need more attendance at all of our games...support is a lovely thang, especially when WE are supporting OUR own...keeping and bring OUR money to OUR schools....man that is just beautiful....

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

Hell i'm not worried about anyone in the SWAC. We own everyone, i'm just killing time at work. Some can brag on attendance but many can't brag about wins, especially lately.:)

LOL....all I can do on that statement at the present time.....

At least you didn't dispute that statement. Many can be arrogant for attendance but Grambling has the right to be arrogant for winning and attracting good coaches.

:lmao::lmao:

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

If the game was in Grambling, I might agree becasue Alcorn does have fans who will hit tha road IF the team is doing good. But since the game is in Lorman, the visitor side will be empty. Alcorn can't fill a 22K seat stadium on their own like JSU can.
