Joe Webb....

Despite playing for a losing team in a middling conference, Webb's accomplishment of being the first player in NCAA history to throw for 2,000 yards and run for 1,000 more in consecutive seasons is impressive.

Any one who saw him play at UAB knew he had the ability to play at the next level. The question was at which position. I think he found his position in the past game. He showed the potential of developing in to a good nfl qb.

If this is the case, why wasn't Webb lauded like tall, dark and Heisman at Auburn?

No he hasn't. If that was the case Josh Freeman wouldn't have been drafted in the first round by Tampa Bay. Aint nobody in the NFL paying any attention to TJack. Hell nobody had him as high as Chilly did on their draft board. The coaching in Black college football has made it bad across the board. It aint just Qbs not getting drafted. HBCUs have a hard time getting any player drafted these days. Can't blame TJack for that. If another McNair comes along in BCF then they will get drafted. If not.......then they won't. Just like it has always been for black college Qbs. You have to light it up and then measure out in the combines. TJack at least did the latter. Like I told you before. Sad arse Jamarcus Russell made it bad for all black Qbs. You can't be no bigger bust than being the overall number 1 pick. LOL.

BTW, if the Vikes are kicking themselves it was for wasting time with Brett Favre arse this year and giving Chilly an extension after last season. TJack played 2 games when they were already out the playoff race. Their failure falls squarely on Favre and Childress. Some on the defense like Jared Allen who did nothing until the end of the year.

JR you dont know what you are talking about. The NFL works in trends. Why do you think all of those NFL teams went after Michigan QBs after Tom Brady was so successful. They thought it was Michigan and not Tom. TJack has hurt black QBs and BCF qbs for a long time going forward. Its going to take a while to get over his debacle. NFL teams would rather go 8-8 with a white qb than 10-6 with a black one.

Come on GR. The NFL been drafting Michigan Qbs for awhile. Tom Brady didn't cause that. Jim Harbaugh, Elvis Grbac, Todd Collins, Brian Griese all got drafted before Brady even came out and even that bust(Drew Henson) that Dallas tried to get to come back from baseball was there with Brady for a year and started when Brady got hurt. Henne has been the only one in recent times to get drafted since Brady started winning Super Bowls. But he was highly touted the whole time he was at Michigan even more so than Brady when he played there. Henne was a 4 year starter. Brady couldn't even beat the sorry arse Qbs(Griese and Dreisbach) Michigan had when he was there until everybody left or got hurt. The NFL scouts and front office aint that dumb. They know who developed Brady. It was Weis and Bellichek. Hence you aint seen anybody but Henne get drafted high since Brady started tearing up the league. John Navarre was a 6'6 freak who never got a serious look as a 7th round draft pick in 03. So what trend are you talking about. If anything since Brady, Michigan Qbs can't even make a team except for Henne. And he is about to be dumped soon in Miami.

You think the NFL going to pass over Cam Newton after Quincy Carter, Jason Campbell and most recently JaMarcus Russell has not torn up the league from the SEC? Right now Josh Freeman is helping the cause for black Qbs and of course everyone is still enamored with any kid with Vick like talents. TJack aint hurt nobody but himself. SWAC Qbs don't get drafted anyway. TJack combine numbers and his play in the postseason bowl games helped his stock. The NFL still thinks HBCU football sucks. We shole see their trend of not drafting our players and signing them to Free Agent deals and if they work out. They got them on the cheap for a few years. Hatcher and Bernard are examples of guys should have been drafted. But Dallas and Cleveland got them on the cheap.

These are excellent points. They are a lot of quarterbacks from the big schools who failed miserably. They did a lot worse than Jackson, who helped his team to win the division a year before Farve got there.

Tom Brady started his junior and senior seasons at Michigan.

Which of the SWAC quarterbacks got drafted between Doug Williams and Steve McNair? I do not think that Willie Totten, Jerry Rice's quarterback in college, did.

Yep. You shole is right. Brady was decent at Michigan but he didn't win like Griese did with Woodson and the rest of that team. Some Michigan folks are shocked he turned out that good. So the Michigan faithful aint as enamored with Brady as they are with Griese. He got a damn sammich (lol yeah I said that) named after him in Ann Arbor. They are proud Brady won some Super Bowls. But Brady's legend is strictly on the NFL level. Griese won a National Title at Michigan. So he has more Michigan cred. LOL.

As for the SWAC Qbs. You are right. I think only McNair got drafted until Jackson got drafted. Some got Free Agent tryouts. As a matter of fact I can't think of many HBCU Qbs getting drafted. I think Jay Walker got drafted out of Howard and it may have been another HBCU Qb drafted. Just can't remember who. Ted White ended up in KC. Don't remember if he got drafted or not.

The Big Ten named its conference quarterback of the year award after Brian Griese and Drew Brees.

I forgot about that. LOL. You would think they name it after Daddy...Bob Griese than the son. Bob was better than his son when he played at Purdue.
