They choked that game away. Boise didn't know how to respond to a challenge. It had been 2 months since the VaTech game, and beating up on all of those lesser quality teams by 40+ points threw them off. It is easy to get amped to play that big game against Big BCS, but what happens when the Nevada's and Fresno's of the world rise up and give you a challenge? Every BCS national champion has had that gutcheck game near the "knock-out" part of the season where they had to overcome some adversity to keep their title hopes alive.(2010 Auburn at Alabama/ Oregon at California, 2009 Alabama at Auburn, 2008 Florida vs Alabama, 2007 LSU vs Florida, 2006 Florida vs South Carolina, you get the picture.) Unfortunately for Boise, the build up to this game was that Nevada was the last test on their schedule, and they couldn't close the deal. The question is, what bowl game will Boise end up in. Nevada is the WAC Champion and will get the top bowl for the WAC. Will Boise possibly steal a bid from a lower-level BCS team?
Hell no, Boise probably gonna host the humanitarian Bowl on they home field... whatever the case ain't no way they gonna beat another SEC/Big Ten team out for a spot in the a BCS game.
They were up 24-7. That's choking. Just like Bama did against Auburn. How did they choke? They were positioned to win... the kicker missed two makeable game winners. That's not choking...that's just bad execution down the stretch against a one loss top 20 conference rival on the road.
There's not a team out there who they can't beat...
Yeah, the only two football teams that matter in the state. The purple people eaters at TCU won't do any choking this year, it is the season of the Texas teams, well except Dallas Cowboys ot UT Longhorns
I know a lot of people are wondering why I didn't post after Boise State lost last night. Well, I had some more important obligations to take care of. I will say that I believe Boise State is still a great team. Before losing to Nevada, the Broncos had won 36 straight regular season games.
Say what you want about the competition along the way, but to win that many games is a testament to how well those young men are coached. However, you have to give Nevada credit for not giving up and keep fighting. Many said Nevada would be a tough test for the Broncos. And they were right.
I feel bad not only for Boise, but for all the non-AQ schools. Why? Because the Mark Mays, Gary Danielsons and E. Gordon Gees of the world will use the loss to say, "See, these schools don't deserve to be mentioned among the elite in college football."
I'm disappointed that the Cartel dodged a huge bullet with Auburn winning and Boise State losing. If those scenarios come out different, a non-AQ would be guaranteed a spot in the BCS title game.
Boise along with TCU and Utah were the only schools in the country who were in a no-win situation. When they beat "The Little Sisters of the Poor," the argument is that they haven't played anyone. When they play a close game or happen to lose those games, the argument then "is how could they lose to school like that?"
I think come preseason 2011, the voters, no matter how Boise State finishes this season, will severely punish them for what transpired last night. And that is not fair.
I wasn't wondering. I figured you'd post sooner or later.
Boise St. fans support kicker with Facebook page
Boise State fans have a message for kicker Kyle Brotzman: We still love you.
A Facebook page titled The Bronco Nation Loves Kyle Brotzman popped up online Saturday, less than 24 hours after Brotzman missed two short field goals in Boise State's 34-31 overtime loss at Nevada.
Under a photo of the senior following through on a kick from an earlier game is the caption: Thanks, Kyle, for all you've done for the Broncos.
As of Saturday night, 5,462 people had clicked the Like button on the page and hundreds of supportive messages had been posted.

this lose only exposed them...you had a 30+ win streak against mid-bottom tier teams with a few upsets of ranked opponents, and you think that qualifies you for BCS. this game was only a reality check....

Oh... Po' LSU  thats another team out of our wayWAR DAMN EAGLE!
But serious question tho...if Auburn were to lose the SEC game, and TCU were to lose there next game, leaving Oregan the only undefeated, who should go? seeing All would be 1 lost teams, but AU with the tougher opponants....

Exposed them? Boise State hadn't lost a regular season game since 2007, bro. Sure, Boise shouldn't have blown a 17-0 lead. Alabama blew a 24-0 that same day against Auburn at HOME no less. Was Bama exposed? Did losing that game prove the Crimson Tide is no longer an elite program?
Comments like yours prove folks were just waiting for Boise State to lose to discredit their run.
Comments like yours show the Boise Nut Hugging. Since 2007, HOW many of thos teams were RANKED!?! any DECENT team can prepare for one possibly 2 ranked teams on they schedule a year and squeeze out a win folk. they got exposed by a #19 team period.
Ima Auburn fan, so i could give two shits about bama seriously. Buuuut for the sake of the convo...AU was more exposed than Bama. SEriously. AU was SUPPOSE to win that game, and bama Stopped the run. Now, please don't compare Bamas team and sched with Boises :retard:

It probably should not have come down to the field goal kicker. Boise State had things going their way in the first half. Then again Alabama did too.

Two missed field goals doom Boise State as Nevada prevails in OT
Associated Press
RENO, Nev. -- Two missed kicks, and Boise State went from being the darling of BCS busters everywhere to just another team looking for a bowl game.
After winning 24 straight games, maybe it was just not meant to be.
.....
"We had a chance to win it," Boise State coach Chris Petersen said. "You play two evenly matched teams, it usually comes down to a couple of plays. It's tough; it probably shouldn't have come down to that."
In the space of one bad half, the Broncos (10-1, 6-1 Western Athletic Conference) most likely lost out on playing in any BCS bowl. On the verge of playing in a big game with a win, they likely will be relegated to the Humanitarian Bowl, played on their own blue field in Boise, Idaho, or the Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco. That's good news for TCU, which was at risk of being nudged out of an automatic BCS bid by Boise State even if it completed an unbeaten season on Saturday by beating lowly Mountain West Conference rival New Mexico.
No. 19 Nevada won't get a BCS invite, either, because that is life for schools not in automatic qualifier conferences. But that didn't stop the overflow crowd at Mackay Stadium from celebrating the improbable win by its team, which was a 14-point underdog and had lost 10 straight games to Boise State.
.....
TCU's season is complete at 12-0.
