Im sorry but FAMU's announcer had me ROLLING lol... How do you even prepare for him if you are an opposing announcer?

As much as I disdain the whole concert band formation for the tune, this is another example of why Lindsey B. Sarjeant is the best marching band ballad arranger EVER!
 



Joe Bullard is one of the greatest HBCU band announcers of ALL-TIME. That was a very good show by the Marching 100. Did anybody notice that FAMU did BCU's attention while playing "Shut Up"...LMAO!!!

The stole that from the DCI but still nice. Particularly the Blue Devil's.

Nah, bruh. We were playing the same thing in HS back in 1976 and it was 10 years old then.

Let me lay it out to you because it went over your head. FAMU used to be known to do their own thing not have to do what others are doing. That's what i was getting at while you're getting bent out of shape like a damn woman. It's that serious? Just stating the obvious. lmao

I appreciate your insight.

When Dr. Foster arrived at FAM~ in the 40's, multiple generations of my family musicians had already gone through the school. Needless to say, I have had family musicians in Da Hundred almost every year since then. While that may have been the impression from people on the outside, those of us who have been closer to the inside know better. It has been a place of creativity and innovation, presenting a good deal of originality. However, we know that musical ideas are borrowed and clipped all of the time ... and that has been as true at FAMU as it has been any where else.

I don't think that you have presented anything "over my head" ... yet. :)

  1. Top 5 in all of the USA in computer science.
  2. Full academic scholarship
  3. A chance to go school out of state so when I moved back to FL I would not have to be involved in any of the smack that goes on here.
  4. The challenge of earning a degree at what was considered a second-tier school [as an HBCU] and competing against graduates of the other 237 schools that offered me a full ride. I was right about it.
  5. The music program was not too bad. I was originally a double-major.
  6. It was the right place for me.

So music and your principle thoughts of a band had very little to do with you attending JSU...

He was tired of going to school in the state of Florida and really wanted to experience the lovely beaches and dirt roads of Mississippi. So it was a great opportunity for him..

Almost nothing. Music at JSU was an afterthought for me. Had music been the higher priority, I would have gone to FSU, Michigan State, or Southern Cal. Still, I enjoyed all of my musical opportunities at JSU, especially learning to play viola.

Not at that time. FAMU did not START to blossom until as an institution until the Fall of '81, when I was a junior at JSU. It simply did not meet my standards when I was looking to enter as a freshman. Believe me when I tell you that I caught an awful lot of grief for that from my extended family ... especially when I chose another HBCU in the State of Mississippi ["... of all the places on earth ...."].
