HBCU's in FCS Playoffs

We were just not good enough to go this year but it could happen. It's a long shot but we will get a team in from time to time. You need the right formula for it to happen which hurts our odds. Right now, our wildcard teams were Grambling and JSU. Gram could not go and JSU simply lost too many games. The only way for the SWAC to get a team in is for for there to be two pretty good teams one one side of the bracket. For example, even if the MEAC had a championship game(North-South set-up) denying BCU from going to the playoffs, SCState still would have been in the South division of the MEAC and got a playoff bid. The difference in us and them is that their second place division team would have been 9-2 and the champ 10-1.

TP.............LISTEN GOOD.

AS LONG AS WE HAVE DUMB AZZ LEADERS IN THIS CONFERENCE LIKE OUR COMMISH, GIVING PUBLIC, EMPHATIC NO's WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE PLAYOFFS, THE SWAC AIN'T RECEIVING SHAT. I don't care if we undefeated. Why would the committee give us a look when our dumb azz leader, on more than one occasion, have officially and publically told FCS to take the playoffs and bacically go fugg themselves with it?

Can you answer that question with all the other FCS choices they have in front of them to take our place?

How, please explain.
Because you have a team that should be still playing not playing, there for they lose the chance to further prove themselves and their Team. Why should they be 8-3 and sitting at home until next year?
Its about opportunity, they cant have that opportunity because we have put a value on somthing that could be priceless...

To further prove my point, a 6-5 Coastal Carolina recieved a bid to the playoffs. I personally believe that the NCAA has a vendetta against the SWAC and will not EVER give us a bid, even if the all the stars are aligned. JSU could go through the SWAC undefeated, lose to Alcorn, and the NCAA would not give JSU a bid. That goes for PV, Alcorn, Texas Southern, or anyone else who would not be playing in the Bayou Classic, Turkey Day Classic, or SCG.

This is what I'm talking about.
You got a couple conferences like the Colonel Conference, WHO SUPPORT THE PLAYOFFS AS A CONFERENCE, that has 4 to 6 teams that get bids. After 10 years of telling them to kiss our butt, they ain't even looking at us. Look at how hard it is just to get one of our players on the Award list.

Please get your info correct before spreading lies. They won their conference. They just didn't get a bid. A lie don't care who tell it, but it will get told.

Of course they are pissed at us... we're not letting them pimp us for money that we can keep for ourselves. But we really don't maximize our profit (imo). I'd play the SCG at the home campus of the team with the best overall record (or site of their choice).

How is it a lie? Coastal Carolina is still 6-5 yet were "good enough" to win their conference. What type of foolishness is that to award a 6-5 team a bid but ignore other teams with better records, especially given the fact that the field of teams has been expanded?

While I agree that it will be HARD to get a team in the playoffs, if we are worthy, we will go.

They got the automatic bid. That is why they went. The SWAC doesn't have an automatic bid. Therefore we couldn't send a team unless they are selected.

How is it Pimping? Do we even know if we make money on the championship game? Correct me if im wrong but didnt most of these promoters pimp us into playing in these classics into recently and for some HBCU they still do.. up till 2 years ago, I believe a lot of these classics still owed Grambling money.. We didnt get know Bayou Classic Money up front making it just as much as getting pimped as going to the playoffs... buts that not the point, J state got a raw deal... And I dont believe anyone on this board really is Happy or ok with them seating at home watching the Bayou Classic instead of Playing

Dude the playoffs require you to make a BID to host a game in your own stadium, then the NCAA takes at least $75% of the gate. Montana's AD said they lost money on their playoff runs.

No different from a 8th seed basketball team winning a conference tournament and going to the NCAA... its an automatic bid.

Some of us don't know that. Isn't this like the 1,847,984.5-th thread about the FCS Playoffs and the SWAC's exclusion? And we still don't know about which conferences get automatic bids or the NCAA's heavy-handed bidding process. Fiyah and others have posted ginormous posts with the info, but some of us just ignore it and smack. Sheesh *thanks Robber*

I think the current trend is to do (maybe) a D-II for HC and FBS $$$$$$ OOC. I could be wrong though.

Okay, but that still doesn't answer why yall dropped them and why no rescheduling? I need to know so that the next time they call yall cowards over on AGS, I can tell them it's not true.

Stroke... not only do they get the bid money, but they also (as far as I recall) get the proceeds from concessions. I could be wrong on that...but the gate receipts that they get constitutes "pimping" to me. What would you call it?

..and this is why you are killing yourself and your playoff chances. I don't konw who your OOC opponent was other than USM but playing a Southland team and a MEAC team or two Southland teams might have got you an 8-3 record.

I'll never understand why yall care this much. yall dont want the playoffs. thats cool. we do. why is it so insulting to yall that we dont agree with yall. we dont all have to agree.

You are right MikeBigg. The NCAA takes 85 percent of the gate reciepts for each playoff games. I know in the past if you wanted to host a playoff games, the team would have to put up $30,000. Did everone see that article by Montana AD where they made less than $100,000.00 going through playoffs and winning the FCS Championship game. Montana paid the NCAA over million dollars from gate reciepts. Grambling and Southern would be foolish to give up the Bayou Classic for this kind of ripoff. At end of the day its about bringing in revenue for your school.

On top of that, they take over your vendor booths and ONLY NCAA items can be sold. No university/athletic gear can be sold inside or outside the stadium. They have volunteers patrolling the parking lots looking for "Hook Up" man.

Damn!!!

SCStateAlum,

No hard feelings at all, congrats on your at-large (attaboy) bid from the Selection folk. All that "opposition to the Legacy Bowl" talk here and ad naseum over on AGS paid off for you guys. Good luck...

One question before I go... Why aren't yall hosting?

simple question...simple answer...Ga Southern outbid us. and I'm sure Ga Southern's AD being on the selection team had a little influence on it as well. but that is speculation. fact is, they outbid us....if we want to host, we gotta get our money up....
