Alabama State vs Texas Southern: Game Updates

Sloppy win Tigers but I'll take it. Enjoy this win tonight but come practice on Tuesday we gotta get ready to contain Alcorn's freshman sensation QB Bridge.

Again, we won as a TEAM tonight!

I second that, Congrats on the Bama Swac Sweep, now we need to regroup and be prepared to clean house in Mississippi again this year and those mofo's are nasty, so get out the toothbrushes and let go to work!

TxSou's punter was the player of the game. :scared: (and if the folks doing voting for player of the week know what they're doing, he ought to be special teams player of the week. This dude was amazing. He KEPT ASU pinned deep. In the 2nd half alone, I think he had 2 punts downed at the 1 yard line, another at the 5 and another at the 10. He was so accurate that TxSou actually punted from the 29 yard line. And it landed at the 1. He was TxSou's best defender. LOL

I am so happy to see sTu has found a runnging back! Who is that #22 I think it was, and where did he come from? He came in running like a man when we needed it.
He ran tough late in the game, but you may wanna hold off yet, cause he was running against an ASU defense that was on the field the whole game. Thanks to your punter. And an atrocious ASU offense. After horrible filed position and 3 and outs, it was a matter of time before the defense began to wear down.

He ran tough late in the game,

MH, I expect more from you. When is it most important for a running back to run tough in a game? If we hada RB that could come in late in a game and be a threat to move the chains, or make a tough run when we needed it late in a game sTu would have beat pv and tu. Remember how jc kept throwing, throwing, throwing and throwing again. Then he would have to throw again becaus the last throw was picked and put sTu in a bad spot. What this kid did was a big deal for this team, because until now teams only had to cover the pass late in the game. If jc can find a little balance this team could be a beast down the streach. Now we just have to see what happens from here.

He had 6 punts...1 touchback and 5 inside the 20...

Sleeper,
The point I was making is that the defense was on empty after being on the field all game long. So, IMO, the late game pickups were more a function of a tired defense than anything else . When your punter continually pinned ASU deep the whole 2nd half, that meant that TxSou's offense was working with a short field. Time and again. But your offense really didnt get anything going.

I agree with an earlier post, our punter was superb allowing TSU to work with a short field most of the 2nd half. Our defense coming on strong to cause ASU with multiple 3 and outs.

We will need this type of play again next weekend against Alcorn sprinkled with some offense.

We appreciate the compliment, but if I didn't know better I would not have notice the sting in that compliment (pun intended) :D
