DONNIE MCCLURKIN GOES OFF
ON THE CHURCH!!!
Pastor Donnie McClurkin -

Perfecting Church, Freeport ,

New York

This past week, popular preacher, recording artist and pastor,

Donnie McClurkin, went on record to declare his deep

disappointment with what he sees as pastoral

abuses in the body of Christ.

His comments have raised a legitimate question about abuse

and excesses in the body of Christ and has brought
attention to a topic that has largely been ignored

in the church community.

In an article appearing in Essence this past week
Pastor McClurkin is quoted as saying:

"As pastors, we have to link arms and have bi-partisanships.

The [Black] church has always been the face of the community.

Now we have to take on the responsibility of becoming true

servants to the people from all walks of life.

I get so mad when I see these pimpin' preachers driving Rolls-Royce,

Bentleys, flying around in their private jets, and making it seem like

prosperity and money is the way of God when 90 percent of your

congregation is on Section 8 or can't figure out how they are

going to keep their lights on or feed their kids.

I'm big on perception, and what would it look like for me to

live so lavishly if the people in my church are struggling?"

says Pastor McClurkin in the article."

In venting his frustration over the behavior of some in the church

community, Pastor McClurkin reveals his own humility and
sense of service to God and God's people, by outlining his

own relationship, financial and otherwise, with his church

and his refusal to take revenue from a congregation that

he has built from the ground up.

"I've done great in gospel music, and only a few of us have
accomplished what I have, and guess what? I live in the 'hood,

not some place on the outskirts of the 'hood. There ain' no gate around
my house; I have a white fence because the people I pastor live in
that community. I have one vehicle and it's not a Mercedes , it's a
Lincoln Navigator. I don't receive a dime-not an Abraham Lincoln
copper coin-and haven't for the last seven-and-a-half years because
I'm okay." He tells Kenya Byrd of Essence Magazine.

As such,
Pastor McClurkin has become a model and an example for others to
emulate. His mentality and actions, that places a greater emphasis on
service than profit, can only be admired by all of those who love the
Lord and are seeking to do His will to the best of their ability.
Pastor McClurkin makes it clear that he has options, but chooses to
live a modest and humble lifestyle because that's what God has called
him to do.

If I wanted to buy a Phantom or Bentley I could and
not hurt my pockets, but I'm okay with what I have. I can sing and
work and I have all that money go back into the church so we can buy
the delicatessen on the corner, or the house next door to make it
state-of-the-art low-income housing. We've trained our people to put
their leaders on pedestals, and some people want to live vicariously
through their pastor and say, "My pastor has this and he's on
television and so on," but then what do you have? How have you
prospered and grown? So when I hear other pastors say, "My people take
care of me," I'm thinking, But you're supposed to be taking care of
the people. I just don't get it. Pastor McClurkin goes on to
say.

What is best gleaned from the wisdom and honesty of Pastor
McClurkin is his healthy attitude about the church and who it belongs
too. His "ecclesiology", which is worthy of our consideration, perhaps
best represents what Christ had in mind when He gave pastors to the
body of Christ in the first place.

I don't have a church, but I do have a
church that I pastor. I can't name something the Donnie
McClurkin Temple because the people do not
belong to me and if they did that would mean I have slaves. I am
simply a vessel to deliver God's word. At the end of the day, it's
God's church, not mine advises Pastor McClurkin.

AMEN! AMEN!
AMEN! AMEN!

May God Bless You
Have a nice Day!

This is all most of us on here been saying....

I for the life of me can't understand why it is so hard for our people to see many of these folks are only using them..

Good stuff McClurkin

100% agree with Donnie. He comes off as being a man just like me not some built up pedestal pastor like these other guys yall worship and give ya money too.

Yeah Donnie, you alright and don't accept money from your members cause you ALREADY PAID! I guess your point is that Long, Dollar, etc...should only get money from "other" endeavors rather than their congregation. A lot of pastor today forgo their salary, however, I am sad to say that those are the ones I have FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE the ones that have the "most" going on.

I usually question some of that myself...

You will have folk say.. Well wrote a Book and that's how he makes his money... He record albums.. that's how he makes his money..

Where did the "Start Up" money come from?

And if it came from the congregation, aren't they owed a percentage?

Paul never took a salary from the church because he was a rich tent builder. My pastor doesn't take a salary because he has a rich business and wanted to follow Paul's example. Having said that, the bible justifies a pastor taking a salary. The problem comes in when determining the salary amount. We all know what's sufficient for a pastor's family to live good, and it doesn't take private jets, and luxury cars to live good.

The Apostle Paul also said this:

23Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.

24Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.

25Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

26In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

27In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

28Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

2 Corinthians 11: 23 - 28

That doesn't sound like a prosperity ministry to me. No luxury lodging and travel.

Interesting because Paul also said this:

1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1

These preachers are definitely not following Paul's example and thus not following Christ. So ... who are they following?

10His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

11Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

12Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
Isaiah 56: 10 - 12

:shame:

How much start-up money do you need to write a book or to become a singer? LOL

That is about the leaders of Israel at the time.

Ask Crit about the book.

But as far as a Singer to cut an album.

Your fees will include:

Music Production:
Most albums are at least 12 to 13 songs....
Producers in the industry are charging atleast 10k a track and that's on the very low end.. Tracks sell up to 75k in the industry.

If you paying live musicians for studio time, then it's MUCH more expensive than that.

If you have any features, that ain't ALWAYS free.. most times it isn't.. Only time I know it to be free unless that artist really wants you on their album also... so it's a even trade.

Studio Fees: (Which often includes)
Tracking Fees:
Mixing Fees:
Mastering Fees:
Duplication:

Those are costs the record company usually absorbs upfront right? I mean, a cat who signs a record deal doesn't have to pay the "startup" costs you listed upfront. I could see if he was starting a record label.

Most of these pastor folk do have their own studios and lables...Well the ones we are talking about..
Paul Morton does... Dude had a million dollar studio before Katrina....

But if you from New Orleans.. you KNOW he used his congregation for damn near everything...

And if they don't have their own studio.. that is the upfront cost for someone that's not signed to a lable...

Where the company trust you enough to let you pay if off through shows and records sells.. that's one thing... But these pastors going in the studio with stacks ...

Donnie is signed with Warner Music, so he doesn't have a label. Paul Morton was already singing long before they started that music label but I don't know anything about how they started it.

I don't know about Donnie... I think it great there is actually ONE of them out there that is for the right...

But you might as well kill that about Paul Morton... Yeah he was singing long before he dropped and album... he was also asking for his congregation W2's long before that as well....

Paul Morton got his position over "Greater St. Stephen" because of a boating "accident" where it was just him and the guy that was over the church at the time.... He falls off the boat and drown.. and low and behold Paul Morton is over Greater St. Stephen....That's when that church slowly and surely turned into a business..

I have relatives that used to go there and his church was 3 blocks rom my house when I was growing up..EVERYTHING came from that congregation...

And folk down here already knew about Paul Morton gay parties...

Shut the doe...LAWD, I didn't know about this one. Hope he didn't push the man over board. :uhoh:

Man you for real? Never heard that one about GSS. I've always just read that Morton has been pastor there since 1974.

Have mercy...I don't remember none of this, but if it was back in the 70's, I was a child and didn't know narry a thing about a Paul Morton or St. Stephens. LOL

Yeah.. that's the story all my family members that been going to his church since it was on Liberty.. which was the first church... Most stories would say.. "His untimely death"....Some kind of way Morton had the real story covered up...

Morton didn't move to New Orleans until like 72 or so..... Dude is from Canada.. All of that drew suspension in some of the church members at the time...

That cat ain't right...
Dude would stand in front church and call all the members who didn't pay their tithes or didn't pay enough... and read out their W2s in front the whole congregation..smh

That whole church should have jumped ship after that B.S. but you know these cats usually have a mouth piece to make other fok feel guilty ....

From what my dad told me (r.i.p.) Morton felt the church wasn't growing fast enough for him..Before dude died...Soon as Morton took charge... He went to making all kind of land deals and growing his congregation.

I just think something ain't right when a Pastor main goal is to have a LARGE congregation.. I mean there is a church damn near on every street corner down here.. So in a way it comes off as selfish...
