I WAS TALKING TO SOME OF MY FELLOW ALCORNITES LAST NIGHT AND THIS SUBJECT CAME UP. TILL THIS DAY WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN A STRAIGHT FORWARD ANSWER AS TO WAY THE BOOM DIDNT SHOW UP TO THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS IN THE COLISEUM THAT YEAR. SOME SAY WE HAD BAND PRACTICE, BUT THATS NOT AN EXCUSE. WE HAD PRACTICE, EARLIER AT NICHOLS MIDDLE SCHOOL IN CANTON. NOW LET THE EXCUSES BEGIN AGAIN. ALSO WE GOT TIRED OF CHASING YAL AWAY FROM OUR BAND PRACTICES ON THE YARD TOO! NOW LET THESE LIES BEGIN AS WELL. READY-------SET------LIE.....:shame:

That won't stop it. Things that happened years ago can and will pop up at anytime during the year. Sometimes, especially during football season, because folks like to remember old battles and compare them to current ones.

Dude, the way ya'll got waxed that year at the game (especially at halftime) why you even bringing that up. That the year the J-Settes had Chico DeBarge wanting to enroll. :licky:

Wow, 98'the year i graduated from TnSU, and i made the iniative to go to my first CCC that year. I must agree, JSU halftime was on fire, but Alcorn's show was not that bad.

Also, not only did the J-Settes have Chico Debarge, but the Drum Majors brought out Kelly Price as well, while the band played "She was a friend of Mine". Truly a classic halftime show.
 
Even I have to agree with the JSU folks on this. Who cares why they didn't show up 12 years ago? I definitely don't. We were there and they weren't. Does it matter now?

Well, let me tell you what PROBALY happened.

The promoter (I can't recall his name right now) had bad blood with JSU. The VP of Student Affairs (Mildred Allen) had basically banned him from campus. So more than likely, this was NOT an event approved by JSU. Also, if he didn't go to Liddell DIRECTLY and ask him to show up for an event, he was not coming. I recall once that the campus was gearing up for a pep rally. The band marched from the band hall and went straight to the practice field because no one went to Liddell and to told him that there was gonna be a pep-rally. However, Dr. Allen was probably the reason the BOOM did not show up for the battle of the BAND!......and if you were in the Coliseum that night and saw that mess that were promoting on stage with girls half naked and shaking a grinding like strippers, you would understand why JSU wanted nothing to do with those type of productions. Once JSU banned him from doing events on campus, he did everything in his power to compete against on-campus JSU events so that our events would fail. I think the DJ/Promoters name is Chris something.

Yea you are right. We didnt know about all the concert and things that were going to take place ourselves. We sat in the stands for a good lil minute and Griff said lets and but when those girls came out, he said everyone sit down, lmao.
