SWAC MEDIA DAY JSU..................Rick Cleveland(Clarion Ledger)

Sam Washington
bilde

Granted a rare 6th year, JSU DE hopes to be healthy difference-maker 1 last chance

"They were hard shoes to fill," Comegy said. "You are down a sack, down a big play every game. He helps the offense, helps with field position. He's around the football, making turnovers."
Don't believe the coach?
See for yourself with Washington's stat line from his junior year in 2008 - when the defense led the Tigers to the SWAC East title:

•57 tackles
•14 1/2 tackles for loss (7th in SWAC, 19th in FCS)
•6 1/2 sacks (6th in SWAC)
•5 QB hurries
•6 forced fumbles (team high)

Notebook: JSU's QB derby seemingly wide-open affair
Dedric McDonald can expect some serious competition this fall for the starting quarterback job from a group of QBs....................
............................."We know it's going to be a challenging area," Comegy said of the quarterback situation.

Jackson State started three different quarterbacks in its first three games of last season, a reason Comegy and staff signed these four: California native Te'Shon Burton, Callaway High grad Mark Thigpen, Hattiesburg High's Tevin Chapman and Los Angeles Southwest College transfer Torrey Harkness

SWAC MEDIA DAY VALLEY..............Rick Cleveland(Clarion Ledger)

Devil of a job: Deck stacked against MVSU coach Morgan

Karl Morgan won't say it, but I will. Morgan, the first-year head football Coach at Mississippi Valley State, has the most difficult job in football.
Believe this: If anybody has a tougher job, you don't want anywhere near it. Neither does Knute Rockne or Bear Bryant.

Why is Morgan's job so hard? Let us count the ways:

SWAC MEDIA DAY ALCORN

Earnest Collins
bilde

Alcorn enters season overflowing with optimism

Earnest Collins' Alcorn State Braves won only three games in 2009, his first as head coach, but two of the three were especially huge.
Alcorn defeated both in-state SWAC rivals Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State en route to a 3-6 finish that was the Braves' best since 2006.

It's almost as if the Braves are starting 2010 at 1-0, because Collins openly called last year's Capital City Classic, the season-ender against Jackson State, "our first game of the 2010 season."

Alcorn beat the JSU Tigers 14-7, a victory that made winter workouts and spring training much more fun and productive, Braves players say.

Its "fear". The more they talk, the more I know that they are trying to convince themselves of something that they don't even believe. :smh: It comes with the territory. After all, we are their Champion.

Somewhere around the Sabine, the message isn't getting across that Panthers don't buy wolf tickets...so please stop selling them. We believe in our team, our coaching staff, and our program. What else needs to be said. :noidea:

oh yeah....see y'all at the Cotton Bowl:wavey:

Thats what im saying. They actually think they had a great team. They were solid and didnt make many mistakes, but I know SU beat them up and down the field but lost due to turnovers and poor coaching.

Thought I'd help you out here. Always willing to help.

GAME_____PV___SU___EXCUSES?_________QUESTIONABLE_COACHING?
PVvsSU___(W)__(L)___(post'em here)_______(post'em here)

I'm still looking for the column for "EXCUSES" and "QUESTIONABLE_COACHING." What statistics tool y'all using that has a column other than WON-LOSS? :emlaugh: :lmao: :bawling:

Y'all are borderline ridiculous. lol

Apparently SU had more "moral victories " last season than real ones..:smh:

Looks like folks feelings are hurt  . This is a new season, with new coaches, and players with new attitudes. :) No more dumb azz play calling, down 2 with 40 seconds, no timeouts ,on the 50 and you call a QB draw smh. Hope yall fixed that sorry azz secondary. Heisman defense is flawed big time :) .

SOrry dude but he benefitted last year because he didn't face ONE opponent with a passing attack. If Nelson can pass the ball, PV is going down in week 1. Northern can't stop the pass.

They say that every year. So you think PV doesn't try to improve at all. The people that hate on the parity that is sneaking up on you just trip me out. I think there isn't a lock in the SWAC at all. I thought sTu and the Pine Bluffers were coming on strong last year. The Jacked up Staters need to watch out for ASU and AAMU before you start talking smack. With the parity forming in the SWAC I limit my smack LOL. But we are so looking forward to being your homecoming guest:lol:

We have the best coaching staff ever, bar none. Trust me when I tell you, we'll be A-okay. I'm not 2000+ miles away just "guessing" and I don't know what's going on about everyone else's squads BUT!!!!! I DO know about our squad and what I've seen't, heard't, felt'th, smell'th lol, et al senses that relate to common sense forces me to KNOW that we'll be A-okay.

You can take that to the bank. We're repeating our championship back-2-back. But you can disbelieve it until it happens if it helps you all to sleep @ night. :emlaugh: :lmao:  :bawling: :emlaugh: :p :lecture: :lmao:

Dude how many times I have to tell you to stop leaving our back door open. They don't need to know what we got and I seen it myself, but I ain't tellin. I will say this though. The people that were redshirt last year are nasty and the people waiting in the wings are even more nasty. The folks waiting on the PV of the 90s to show up will be waiting a LLOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGG time

I don't know why everybody is knocking PV... Henry Frazier has stuck with his plan. When PV was not winning in PV's early years Frazier did not waiver... He kept to his plan.... When a program is that bad u can't fix it over night. He played freshmen and let them learn on the job and it paid off in 2007,2008,2009.... He has kept his coaches... He has kept the schemes in place... He has stayed the course... People give PV a hard time and no respect.. Its time to get over that. Henry Frazier has laid a good blueprint for coaches to follow in how to rebuild a bad program... Stay the course and good things will eventually happen for your program....

Damn, you can tell this brother went to an HBCU and actually got an education. The haters need to read "Who moved the cheese"

and his coaches are becoming head coaches and coordinators......not many staffs in the SWAC can say that because the SID has to rewrite bios every year....
