SU GSU leaves SWAC

If we're gonna expand... I favor seeking to add Morehouse, Albany State, Fort Valley, Tuskegee from SIAC.

How are we acting brand new? We've always won in other stuff but geographically speaking, our gate would not die overnight if yall left the SWAC or we left it as all it would do is make us play more state schools.

we're like A&M and UT.....us and TSU and joined at the hip so as long as the rivalry is intact, we're alright.....maybe Valley and Alcorn are the Baylors where they need JSU, SU, Grambling to survive

No..no...no; Those are small tater tots! :emlaugh: Perhaps they would be ok for the SWAC after the big fish leave. :emlaugh: They could then brag about what we achieved when were the big fish in a little pond.

What should happen on the serious tip is.......S.U. FAMU, TNST, SCST, GRAM, JSU, BCC, Bama St., AAMU & NC A&T should form a new conference and moved to the FBS (formerly I-A). The new name could be the South Atlantic
Athletic Conference. The conference would be split into two divisions with 8 conference games mandated (three revolving and one Permanent out of division foe........Permanent foe in parenthesis)

SEAC South

1) Southern (FAMU)
2) Jackson State (TNST)
3) Grambling (SCST)
4) Alabama State (NC A&T)
5) Alabama A&M (BCC)

SEAC Atlantic

1) Florida A&M (S.U.)
2) Tennessee State (JSU)
3) Bethune Cookman (AAMU)
4) South Carolina State (Gram)
5) North Carolina A&T (Bama St)

Possible Sponsored Conference Championship Homes

1) Georgia Dome
2) Louisiana Super Dome

Possible Bowl Alliances
1) Sunbelt 2) C-USA 3) WAC 4) MAAC

Potential Expansion Programs

1) Texas Southern University
2) Prairie View A&M
3) Hampton University
4) Norfolk State

This model is the "Big Ticket!"
Conference Mandate: No more than 1 FCS Opponent per year for each conference team and no D-2 teams or below.....

I like this model. Is there a way that you can present this or promote it for support?

Very interesting Jrock.

I like this alot. All of these teams will draw their fans, locals and others who enjoy watching HBCU's. THe only thing I will change is I would definetly put Texas Southern in the place of aamu. aamu has no draw, nobody knows about them except them. Not trying to be sarcastic. Also to survive, these schools must have a helluva band and The Ocean of Soul is much better than the marrrrrrrrrrooooooooonnnnn and white.

I normally don't touch these topics but Jrock bruh I like that plan!! Would support this if it was ever possible!!! Those games in () are on point.. Shitttt let's do this.. Tomcat you can leave TSU out bruh they have never won anything in football bruh. Not an attractive team for the proposal!!

Basically it would be the SWAC vs. MEAC ( and TNSU), but just within the same conference. I think it would be a tossup between adding TXSU or AAMU, but since AAMU has been much more successful in the football and basketball, and they have that huge classic with ASU, I would vote for them. Texas Southern can be in the next group to expand to 12 teams.

adios....wouldn't dent our pocketbooks no worse than it is now...Grambling will still want to the SFC for revenue purposes so it wouldn't matter

I like this, but make it 12 from the start. Adding Texas Southern/PV and Hampton/Norfolk would give this league some foothold in the Houston and DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) markets.

This league would have potential, namely because so many natural rivalries and largely-attended games would be under the conference's banner. Just look at the lineup this league would have to present to networks.

Bayou Classic (SU-Grambling)
Southern Heritage Classic (Jackson-TnSt)
ATL Football Classic (FAMU-TnSt)
Magic City Classic (AAMU-Bama St)
Florida Classic (FAMU-BCC)
Southern-Jackson St.
SC State-NC A&T
FAMU-Southern

Then you reignite old rivalries across divisions and create new ones that draw interest.

A true six-team divisional format could, in theory, reduce travel costs for other sports

Just let that last spot in the West be rotational and rotate it between TxSo, PV, and AAMU. They only good every few years anyway so the can load up for the year it is their turn, and then play the langstons of the world the other 2 years. In addition, it will give them houston schools 2 years to find a staduim to play their big games at.

Lewis, if our politicians were dumb enough to allow state tax $$$ earmarked for education lol to be used to build us a "big" stadium, like some of you :swink:, we wouldn't have the stadium problem/issue we currently endure. :)

All talk looking @ a Ferrarri on a McDonald's french-frier salary. :emlaugh: I'm not mad at you guys for wishing though. lol But we all know it'll never happen w/ the current status. August 2010, all will be quiet and normal yet again. :)

again....let them go and they'll be like FAMU.....in all actuality, they would be looking at the Sun Belt only...

I cannot fathom the idea of them even pretending to want to go when they're broke (athletic wise). lol

The SWAC pushed the 9-game mandate back into full effect so even the perrenial whore herself cannot go out and seek every FBS trick she's allowed to for hundreds of thousands of positive revenue $$$$. :swink:

In that case we need to just stick with 10 teams, we already have enough dependents.

My reasoning is to keep the current members of the SWAC as part of the conference. Adding those 4 SIAC schools are good geographically for travel and
it puts us (SWAC) in Georgia.

And who might this perennial whore school be? Just curious.:snicker:

LOL:flippy::flippy:Only two Univiersities in the State of Texas don't have a decent stadium, that dog won't hunt. Who are they????
