^^Why do you even ask? That fact that the topic has the word 'Rumor' in it is![]()
I think it depends on a number of things.
The performance of the program over a significant period of time.
The performance of other teams in the division or league.
The expectations of the program in relation to other teams in the league.
Did he do what he was hired to do.
Numbers to and three are important. I don t believe any team in the conference is so much better than JSU that it will force the school to change coaches just to compete. If Comegy were to come back, it does not hinder the Tigers chances of winning the division or the conference.
Those are some of the things I would look at before making a move.
That one dimensional offense beat SU five straight times though. :lol:Maybe leadership looked at what people here have been telling you for the last few years ..... there is NO reason why JSU should have been struggling to get to the last few SCG's under his tenure.
Who did he have to beat?
Even at it's highest point, AAMU was one dimensional on offense, Alcorn never holds their game for an entire year and Bama State and Valley have been nothing to talk about since he has been there. Then, he defeated Southern a couple of times and never had to worry about Grambling stopping him and once PVU could, they were not on the schedule.
While I mess with you J-State people, there was no reason why J-State should not have been in the SCG from the East for the last four years, seriously.
That one dimensional offense beat SU five straight times though.
Okay .... and?
That's one of the reasons why we want Pete gone too. He shouldn't have lost those five games with what he had and what AAMU had at the time. Your last trip to Mumford, I understand. The Indianapolis game I understand. The rest, just like the three Prairie View loses, his coaching, or lack thereof, did more to produce those wins than what Jones or Frazier did.
Just like some are questioning J-State, if either of these schools find the right guy, that's game over for the Prairie View's and Alabama A & M's.
Dude, keep GSU's name out of your little spat with 79. Our dominance isn't over. We stumbled a bit this year but you can best believe we'll be back in the SCG in 2010. After playing in 6 of the 10 SCG's this decade, and winning 5 of them, we'll start the next decade off the same way we started the last one.:lmao: Man please. The days of SU, JSU and GSU dominating is over.
I didn't come here to set up a pissing match with Cee, but here it is.
Dog, you (AAMU) have a different issue than J-State does. In the years were J-State was up to snuff, you were destined for second place. Your one SWAC title .... Comegy's first year. Otherwise, Grambling was knocking the bottom out. Your SWAC Title win .... over a good, but inexperienced UAPB team.
J-State falls and low and behold, who's in the final this year? AAMU.
I'm not saying AAMU is not good. Let me repeat that. I'm not saying AAMU is not good. But on the grand scale of things in this sport, there is no reason why J-State shouldn't be handing you your lunch yearly except that they are not doing what they should. It's the same for Southern and Prairie View.
Prairie View has a great team, but even in this year, they didn't dominate mediocre Southern or Grambling teams. See Southern 2003, Grambling 2005.
No, of course, none of this is AAMU or PVU's fault and no one is trying to make you feel bad for getting where you are. All I saying is when these four schools have been at full power at the sametime, more times than not, Jackson State and Southern have handled business.

You made some great points concerning SU and JSU being up to snuff and handing teams their lunch.......The situation change when SU lost the LSU connection, facilities were not up to par, and high school players who normally were on lock for SU no longer wanted to attend. SU was the envy of the SWAC when AAMU came into the league. Therefore, we gauged our team on being on SU's level. If you remember, the last few meetings have gone our way. Now SU has upgraded their facilities and hopefully, the recruits will return.
JSU went South when they lost discipline of their team....When you bring in transfers who already have no discipline and mix them in with a team that has no discipline, it will not work. Coaches arguing among themselves in public did not help........Firing Comegy is not the answer.....this will only add for a quick fix that will tumble down hill in the end.........Getting control of the players and coaching staff could bring JSU back to par.
AAMU and PV are on the move.......AAMU and PV have been consistent over the last few years. Therefore, when a SU or a JSU slip. It is easy for us to ease into the SWAC Championship game. The team to me that is the most consistent is GSU. They bring it every Saturday and has a bead on AAMU that we have yet to shake. This is not smack, just my opinion......

DOG81 these folks don't get it. I am no big fan of Jones, but he has been consistant. He has had 7out of 8 winning seasons. Folks wanna live off of the past. Those days are gone. At least Jones is consistant. If you don't come to play he will beat you. These other schools have been consistant since the 90's. The world and times have changed, these other schools are stuck in the past. In 1999 you could leave the country witout a passport. In 2009 you gotta have one. Feel me.

I understand your point, but like I said, that's because other schools didn't put the money into their programs. When they saw us come in and win they started to invest.

If JSU had halfway decent coaches, you wouldn't have made it to the SCG game not one time this decade.
AAMU is still a second-tier school. That won't change no matter how much you try and claim otherwise. You are who you are.
What JSU calls consistent and what AAMU calls consistent are two different things. We fired a coach for going 9-3, 7-4, 7-4, 7-4....and 4-0 vs AAMU. That was consistent but that was not JSU football. Now we have a coach who has only had 3 winning seasons and 1 losing season and his seat is hot. He is 6-5, 8-4, 7-5 and 3-7....not far from what Jones has been over the same timeframe but you let your team go 4-7 and you cause no shake-up. Comegy is gonna have to make some changes to become DOMINANT or else, he is gonna have to go.
CEE, they are not programed to see it. It is not their fault. It is tough for those guys to see that they are a "has been team". These guys are on the Smack forum where they have to defend their team. If you want the true feelings of the JSU fans go to the Clarionledger. You will see true comments from BlackBengal and JRob......Here are few, but the link will give you the true feelings

A year ago, Comegy cussed out a fan at the luncheon who hinted that he was protecting Woody. Comegy told the fan, "I'm not protecting ANY man cause I have a family to feed. If you knew me, you wouldn't have said that sh!#". We'll see whether he was being upfront or a plain ole liar.
Either Woody and his offensive assistants go or Comegy needs to go. It's just that simple.

This speaks volume! All these coaches need to be fired. Even Comegy.

The Hughes firing was not about wins and defeats..........You know and I know that. What unravels is a 1-9 High School coach that was hand picked and honored by you (I saw you on the video bragging about Bell). Fired him at got Comegy who is dragging the program down further than Bell....Now you want to fire Comegy and hire another coach......Keep firing them.........This decade has been a major disaster for JSU.....

Right, we don't go by wins and losses at JSU. We go by QUALITY wins and championships.
