Can yall stop arguing w/ a guy who's seriously bitter and hurt from the loss. He's stuck in the 90s. This was probably his first time actually SEEING PV play and he' hurt to his "soul". Bless his heart. Dude, it 2009. Let's talk current events and let the great Eddie Robinson rest.

I wouldn't give a flip if they gave out 5000 scholarships. In the past four years, we have been to the SWAC championship game 3 out of 4 times and have won it 2 out of 4. So how in the world do I loose a kid to an inferior program, by not recruiting, and being totally incompetent? Does USC loose kids to Hawaii; does UT loose kids to UNT? The answer is NO... And that's my point, even if they offered 5K scholarships it should not matter because they should be only getting the left over kids that we don't want.

Maybe Gram is not who you think you are. You are not the USC of the SWAC.

Prop 48 was the friend of the SWAC in the 80s.....

Our HBCUs now have admission standards

Catch up dagreightone! I spoke on these very things many, many, many years ago. (standards and the fact that you're a UNIVERSITY and not an advanced high school :retard: )

The playing field has leveled out TREMENDOUSLY and it's continuing even budget wise! :swink: :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: Catch up! lol

I agree but that doesn't mean that Coaches shouldn't bust their buts to recruit, and its apparent that he isn't... This is not a knock on PV but a knock on the coaching staff of GSU... We have only had one LA all state player since he has been there and that's the kid from Rayville, LA, and please correct me if I’m wrong. But out side of that all he has been getting is sub par players. It’s all about quality not quantity because his first recruiting class was huge, but none of the players have really panned out. So one of two things is happening, he isn’t trying to get the best players or he doesn’t know how to evaluate talent or maybe a combination of the two…

this is the 2009 recruiting class, calling it 'ok' is being generous...

http://www.neworleans.com/sports/lo...-football-signing-class-now-stands-at-20.html

I will see if I can find the two previous classes just to help support my point so you all don't think I'm all emotional and bent out of shape because of the loss...

PV isn't located in Houston... :noidea: There isn't shii around PV.

And location has nothing to do with recruiting. Doug recruited while at Grambling with the same circumstances and location. There is not a recruit in the state of Texas that would chose PV over Grambling if Grambling contacted that recruit. Broadway and staff have to do a better job recruiting because Grambling don't have the talent it once had. Yes, PV beat Grambling but, I think letting go Spears was the right move. Broadway is a good coach, but the recruting is not up to par. And JSU folks, I know that it feels good to speak bad about Grambling. But please remember that your azz is located in country ass no speaking english Mississippi, and your team is hot garbage.

Errr dude PV ain't much further from Houston than some of the suburbs on the other side of Houston. Maybe if you aren't from here you wouldn't understand but its quicker to get from the NW side of Houston to PV than it is to get from the NW side to the SE side. And this is Texas. Folk drive and don't care. Mind you also Houston is rapidly expanding towards PV. There is about to be a new loop that cuts about halfway between the NW side and PV.

There is not a recruit in the state of Texas that would chose PV over Grambling if Grambling contacted that recruit.

Man get over yourselves. Aint nothin that great about Grambling. I didn't realize some of ya'll really were this delusional.

You think Gram's '09 recruiting class was not "ok?" All those honors? Ok, realistically speaking, you're wanting to go head to head w/ the top dog in-state first (LSU), right? That's who has pick of the litter, followed by other remoters @ the FBS level (ut-austin, aTm, miss st, usm, et al localers, then the Ohio Sts, Michigans, et numerous al). That "name" and "branding" of "Grambling" isn't carrying clout these days. Today's kids are so media driven until it almost hurts. They want the camera, they want the extra "perks" that come w/ playing for FBSdom, and they want the 60K+ seat stadium to play in on Saturday's as well (bowl games, etc).

I'm not advocating that FCS coaches not go head-to-head w/ FBSers because in my mind, the least one should do is try. But this issue is actually even much bigger than Grambling. It affects ALL of FCS.

Did Gram out smart themselves by firing Spears? I say yes. Even in the loosing season he still put 53 on PV. Broadway has done something that even Eddie Robinson couldn’t do or didn’t do in his wonder years and that’s lose to PV. I have never been so embarrassed in all my life. But it all makes sense; this is nothing more than the accumulation of poor recruiting, poor coaching, arrogance, ignorance and lack of respect for the legacy of GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY. Have we become JSU, with the reincarnation of James Bell? GOD bless GSU and all the alumni that wanted Spears gone, this is one example of us out smarting ourselves. Now let the debate begin… Give me a sec before y’all start commenting, I’m going to the liquor store.

Oh and before you give me the excuse that PV has gotten better my questions is how? How in the world can the ICON of the SWAC lose a player to PV? Refer to the previous paragraph sentence six for an answer. I’m off to the liquor store…

You making me sweat lol. It could have been one of those contract deals where they stated that he had to have 3 or more consecutive winning seasons if he was to keep his job, but I don't know exactly why he was terminated so I am only left to speculate.

Another thing is that I saw us loosing to PVU coming pretty soon becasue they have had these past 3 years the team to do it and their recruiting seems to be pretty stable at least for now so I am not shocked at all that they beat us IMO.

I ran across this on the Net! GREAT VIDEO!

Congrats PV!

thats what college football is all about....

Maybe Bama State students/fans will be able to make one of these 20 years from now after 25 straight asswhippins!!!

TGee JSU,Alcorn and Valley are rated as better schools academically than Grambling. Try again. Gram is essentially located in a bad location with a dwindling student body. But you took that as hate so you came back with mindless dribble...SMH

Spears was probably my favorite SWAC coach since AAMU been in the SWAC... Watching Season of the Tiger made me respect Spears.... I liked the way he tried to beat the hell out of EVERY team he played.. he didnt care what the score was, he wanted to beat the hell out of you. If I was a coach, I would be a spitting image of Spears. He would coach like he was playing a video game.... going for 2 point conversions up by 40. I like ol Spears... If Jones was to leave, I would want ol Spears here.

You have a good point there, but my point is that if you recruit the way you suppose to that level of complacency never sets in. Because the player in front knows that if he messes up you have a guy foaming at the mouth waiting for a chance to get in and take his position. But that’s all coaching…

Spears was head coach during that year I was referring to. It was his last year as a matter of fact. That team was full of talent and went 3-8. The team was missing "something" too. That was quite clear after the way they methodically dismantled JState...So if it was coaching as you say, then Spears must not have been all that you are trying to make him out to be, right?

You're speaking on emotion w/out intell.

Right now, there's a recruit on our squad who's the SON of 2 (yes, TWO) of your OWN alums (OL) who was recruited by Gram and PV. ( Position: OL
Year: R-Fr.
Height: 6-2
Weight: 260
Hometown: Flower Mound, Texas)

He, and I'd assume his parents, chose PV over Grambling. Wonder why eh? Check your house, the foundation looks like it's been caving in for a while now and living off of "history" certainly won't help it stand while others are moving forward pretty fiercely and obviously very quietly. :swink:

Panther88 & PVers-----> :emlaugh:
TGee/dareightone & haternation--> :argue2:

Just bitter and won't concede. Don't worry. Basketball season will be here soon enough. Oops! We're gonna' dominate mens and womens there too! :swink: lol Sorry there's always bowling but I've heard great things regarding our current student-athletes there too :emlaugh:. :(

Panth...don't want to take away from your win because you guys earned it. However, don't you think it was bound to happen sooner or later. Also are you saying that having the past 3 weeks to game plan didn't help your cause?
Do you not think your team being mentally and physically rested also didn't help your chances? Good win and all...but it doesn't mean that all of a sudden Grambling doesn't have good players.

In a sense it's flattering that folks don't seem to expect Gram to lose a conference game on occassion.

I wanna' watch the game again before I speak on it. I wanna' make sure I saw what I saw going on @ the point of attack (OL/DL).

I'm not taking anything away from Grambling because y'all recruit super-recruits. But the question begs are they continuing to work when they get there to get better? :read:

I'll answer back 2morrow. (later today lol)

I just saw the video of the 1st half and it affirms what I saw last Sat night. Y'all were getting pushed and knocked backwards. End of story. Good night. See you guys next year in Dallas. I'm done w/ the banter on the post-game stuff.

All I've heard thusfar are a bunch of excuses from y'alls side. That's why I was hoping and praying y'all would do semi-well vs oklahoma state because I didn't want to hear typical "black folk" excuses after we beat y'all like we said we would. But I understand, totally how some are. lol :swink:

Good-bye and good luck on the remainder of your season. We're 2-0 SWAC West and sit alone on top, for now. :) Looking forward to Prairie Viewham. :swink: Bama State? :D

True but I never said that he would, but I do think that he should be able to recruit a Jake Reed, Trumaine Johnson, Scotty Anderson, Curtis Ceasor, Jason Hatcher, Fakhir Brown, Andrew Gloover, Randy Hymes, do you want me to continue? So your logic is flawed my brother you didn't attend Grambling to I understand your defeatist attitude but don't try to pass it on to me like the swine flu. Keep that to yourself... Now go take your antibotics and blow your nose and make sure to use lots of hand sanitizer.

Dude, it's obvious that your brain is stuck in a time warp, a warp that you refuse to recognize. Grambling is not who you're THINKING they are. It's only like that in your mind. You can make all the excuses you wanna make, but facts clearly show that Grambling can't even consistently beat their fellow SU team, so head to head does that make SU a better team than Grambling? Not necessarily, but it does indicate that you aren't anywhere close to the team you think you are.

Like it was said earlier, the playing field is much more leveled today. It would help ease your useless mental pain and anguish if you'd only see the light, but I doubt you will, so continue on with the worthless excuses.
Grambling is NOT the Grambling of old or you wouldn't have lost by "fitty plus" to any team in the country.

Panth...no excuse from me. You guys won in the trenches and also on the scoreboard. However, are you saying that the time off didn't give you guys an advantage? It is what it is...you guys have a good squad and were well coached and well prepared. Part of that preparation came from having the time to dissect everything about us while also adding some things we hadn't seen.

I'm not one of those fans who think that we should look down our nose at the rest of the league... As B'Way stated in his press conference, this year we're not winning the close ones as opposed to last year when we did. I agree that it's on him and the staff to figure out why and how to correct it.

Again...Congrats!

I told ya'll a few years ago that Broadway was not going to be able to recruit at Grambling. Also, Grambling's coaches are normally high profile and recruit with both THEIR name and the Grambling name. That is why GSU should have hired that former NFL player who practically begged them for the job.

Broadway's style is more fitting for Southern from his style of coaching to his persona. Broadway was never a good fit for Grambling in my opinion.

BUT, I don't see Broadway ever losing at Grambling. He has enough good football sense to know how to run a program. He is gonna have to be more of an Xs and Os coach than any of the previous Grambling HCs.
